Yes, Sir. Lee "Scratch" Perry definitely produced this re-made version of the Heptones' "Party Time" , a Studio One classic done by none other than the legendary Heptones themselves featuring Leroy Sibbles on lead vocals. This version was recorded between 1976 and 1977 at Black Ark Studios.
@HecG I'm studyin reggae music, I wouldnt say which one is original but rather which producer got in the hands of Heptones - Party time first and it was Studio 1 on 1968. The Heptones made a second version of it on 1976 with Lee Scratch Perry.
Oh Man! This is massive. I now feel I understand a little bit better what Lee Scratch is trying to do musically , after hearing this. I agree HecG. Thanks for posting.
yea lee perry produced this. not sure on the actual release date but this particualr version of Party Time was recorded in '77 at Black Ark studio in kingston.
this is indeed the Lee Scratch Perry version cut at Black Ark Studio in 1976

One of the greatest rhythms Scratch recorded. A great step forward from the original with the steppers beat.
