It went gold in 1970 as a single (the ole 45 days, I had it) the same year they released it. Gold was a million singles in the 70s. Today it is just half of that. So I would have to say they made a buck or two for that day and age even though the record company were probably the real winners.

we played the hell out of this song on then Z-Rock.this song had a short life cause it ran into radio stations changing formats for Disco. thanks 74sodapop for putting up song, with the amount of hits, it seems that people still like "BALLS" in their music.

My friend thought it was this group and said they played a version of the house of the rising sun. I had one of the animals albums so I knew that song. So me and a buddy went to the concert. Previous to that, it was recorded by Bob Dylan, and before that even, it is a frontier folk blues, originally about a young woman turned prostitute by the poverty stricken social situation of the rambling lifestyles and early settlement of America. However, yes this version kicks ass.
