  • What strikes me this is that it ends up losing symmetry near the end.

    Does the simulation begin with perfect symmetry? If it loses symmetry somehow, we should find out why.

  • @otonanoC There is invisible asymmetry all the way through because the pattern is initialized with low-level "noise" (so low you can't see it). Since the circle of spots is an inherently unstable shape (it "wants" to become non-circular) irregularities like that noise build up, until eventually they show up (first noticable right around when the circle is broken and 16 becomes 20)
