  • I would do absolutely ANYTHING...

To have him play this at my funeral.

  • I am inspired to learn this. Thank you

  • thich

  • music is great but put this fucking camera on a fucking tripod

  • I'm over the top now, so this is my last post concerning Andrew.

I finish with a 'WOW', and secondly a 'WOW'... take away what you wish after listening to his music. It is wonderous, if you just let your senses take over.

Last time to say so tonight - Happy New Year all, and defintitely to Andrew and family.

  • You have the passion and skill on the piano like gordon ramsey has passion and skill for cooking. After watching you and Yiruma, I have a new level of respect for the piano.

  • Super! I can listen over and over! This is one of my favorites and you are playing it great!

  • I have recorded my interpretation of this song too, it's on my channel, please, see it!

  • i love watching you play.. ive been trying to learn and you have helped me out so much thank u for being great:D

  • Just found you on here, love all your renditions.. and of course love this song! Pray one day I'll be as good as you :) keep making vids! cool hair btw

  • Lypur!

He is the piano teacher of all poor amateur pianists!

    thanks father lypur

  • God, I want to learn this song so bad! You did a great job! (:

  • very well played.....quite a lot of emotions involved.

  • at the first place, i disliked this piece of Beethoven because it's too slow or something boring.. but when it was featured in a horror tv show in our country, it was absolutely creepy and i like it now.. i want to play this piece but i dont have piano or atleast keyboard with complete notes... =( too sad,

  • This is exquisite!

I'm learning how to play the piano at a late-ish age (I'm 23 and at ~ Grade 3 level). Hopefully if I work hard, I'll be able to play this half as well as you can one day.

  • Wonderful rendition! Brings back memories of my first love, Bill. This is for you, sweetheart.

  • Comment removed

  • you sure can feel the soul of this piece,

and through your interpretation, we can hear it ^^

    thank you:)

  • Great performance, I listen to this every single night to help me sleep

  • Beethoven is a genius, getting so many shifts of key in one piece.

  • I've always loved this song since I first heard it =w=

Which was for some reason on a Hamtaro game...

  • Wonderful piece! Wonderful interpretation! Wonderful performance! =D

  • i love you Andrew. :)

  • Makes me want to start painting all the things that float around my head during this. But I can't take off the headphones for one second to get to where my painting stuff is. So: good stuff! It's a classic and you do it well!

  • Beautiful!

  • my brother is playing this song and ever since he played it i loved this song and I thought I loved it all I could but when I heard you play it I loved it even more!!! you are an amazing pianist!

  • Eres increible amigo, un ejemplo a seguir, mis respetos :)

  • The best interpretation I found.

  • Thumbs up for the random tree!

  • when i hear this i can image a person betraying someone like killing them or something. he then regrets what he did so he kills himself. man why do i keep thinking of people dying o.o

  • @noeleverblue lol the night after i finished memorising this piece i dreamt that i killed a few people.

  • I love 3:08 !!! It's so beautiful!!!

  • Love your rendition! It's my favorite of all on YouTube. Do you offer a tutorial here? I'll check ur channel. (& I hafta ask, what's up with the bouncing ball? And the screen going darker when it randomly appears, then reappears? It's very distracting. Since it's edited in, might you edit it out, please?). THANK YOU FOR SHARING !~*)

  • @MuskPumpkin That is a video of the moon, not a bouncing ball. Because the piece is called "Moonlight Sonata". He put it in for added....drama? Not quite the word I was looking for, but close enough.

  • @MuskPumpkin Im pretty sure its the moon and clouds :/ it doesnt take away from the music either :)

  • @MuskPumpkin I think its supposed to be the moon from outside his house...(hence moonlight sonata). It adds atmosphere to the song.

  • i <3 this piece :)

  • My piano teacher, who was a professor of music and has performed at presidential innagurations, would have been very pleased at your performance of this. It was my favorite piece to listen to him play and your rendition is quite similar.....bravo!

  • @cavvy68 :) Why thank you!! That's a wonderful compliment!!

  • @Lypur And you deserve it

  • Amazing!

  • Hey lypur. I have this favorite song. But im afraid if i practice it too many times it will get boring. How does this work? Do you got bored of this awesome sonata after playing it 100 times?

  • i luv you

  • Can you make a video to teach Moonlight Sonata for the right and left hands? I ask because I really want to learn this song. I play by ear but this song seems a little complex.

  • you should read moonlight sonata by yannis ritsos ...the great greek poet !

  • Beautifully played! I too can only just hit an octave with my dinky hands (the iPhone I'm using looks like an iPad to onlookers!), but learning to play this piece has got me addicted to playing piano. Thanks for showing me how it can be played.

  • this music is good for people with insomnia. love you Lypur!!!!!!!!!

  • @Lypur You insipred me to learn this piece - Thank you for the lessons. Also @musicismylover123 As long as you can hit octaves you'll be fine

  • So sad and scary~ like someone rise from the dead and wondering, cryin, mournin for love~ I in deep now~

  • I'm so in love with this!

  • Thumbs up if your here because of Kissed by an Angel by Elizabeth chandler?

  • Nice job :) I've been trying to learn this one for ages, you play very well.

  • Do you think it would be challenging for me to play this piece because I have small hands? I love this song and I really want to learn it but I feel like it might be hard for me because I know that some of the notes are far apart.

  • this song is a work of art. Beethoven played so well, considering he was blind. that, my fellow teens, is REAL talent. what you call talent these days is nothing. thank you for uploading this, Lypur

  • @genericusernames2 He wasn't blind. He went deaf.

  • @AccronymArts oh, right. Ray Charles was deaf. :P forgetful. thanks for the correction

  • @genericusernames2 Ray Charles was blind. :)

  • @AccronymArts damn it. i can't get it right. thanks, again.

  • @genericusernames2

He was deaf, not blind. This make´s it a little bit more difficult to compose, than to be blind ;-)

  • @genericusernames2 You mean deaf?

  • 12 people think Beiber won the rap battle...

  • This is the song of angels.

  • Change the "Like" Button to "Love!"

  • This is by far my favorite sound in this world, Moonlight Sonata is so amazing and fills me with pure emotion...beautifully done i must say

  • 12 people are jealous that they can't piano like this great man here.

  • love the music, not too sure about the hair tho haha

  • All I can say is beautiful. I feel like you've really captured the essence of the song, the way Beethoven intended. Congrats.

  • Great song and very well played. Awesome. Thank you, Greg

  • Lyper I think you are the best teacher and an amazing piano player. I hope you keep up the good work and never give up. I mean if you keep practicing you could learn alot of songs. plz tell me you will never leave youtube. keep going and I'll watch all your vids

  • The end gave me shivers...I feel that haunting sadness that makes my heart ache with that an emptyness so profound that I feel utterly alone in this world.

  • Hey pal... Wait a minute... So I am learning from your clips how to read notes, and you are playing Beethoven... by ear :DDD

    Regards from Poland

  • My princess loves this song and i love her =)

  • Oh wow, amazing! This is why I follow your lessons in hope that I can play like this someday

  • sux. tempo changes sux real bad, dude. those rubatos are too fast for the rest of your tempo. but again, you teach better than you play and it should be that way if you're a teacher. am i rgiht, or am i right?

  • @PianoTHIS ??? you are retard !! am i right? :)),,sure you are

  • @papcyrill shouldn't teachers TEACH better than they PLAY?

Thanks for saying, "sure you are" -- duly acknowledged, and I thank you. :))

  • @PianoTHIS ......and you are a demented lunatic?....am i right or am i right?......

  • Hey lypur this is Hero; Just wanted to let you know that I'm still around and still play piano and still watch your stuff. I wrote a song based off moonlight sonata a while ago and wanted to share it with you (and at the same time i really wanted some more views cuz it feels like i dont ever get any lol..) so yea I posted video response hopefully you don't mind and will like it :)

  • Awesome!

  • Where is Moonlight sonata?? Will never forget that lesson

  • This song never fails to completely captivate me...

  • incredibly beautiful performance. there's nothing else I can say. it's perfect. :)

  • This song, makes me sleep ZZZZZZZ

  • Just love this... Is now on my babygirl sleepinglist. So when shes going to sleep its easy to find. You play it whit soul.

  • Dude you made this song even more epic than it already was.

  • im gonna play this to girl i love tommorow xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • amazing!I really like this song, i only know how to play part of it though, this is very good it sounds amazing.

  • so after spending quite a bit of time on this piece and getting everything sorted out, i realized that I have subconsciously followed your interpretation a lot.

honestly - glad I heard your version before I learned this piece :P

  • Moonlight Sonata has always been my favorite piano piece, thank you for doing a cover of it n_n

  • why do people put dislike why

  • Some people cant convey emotion when performing this, but this is... emotive.

  • by far the most haunting song ever composed. beautiful.

  • Oh god no offense but you play it way too fast..

It's a melodramic piece. Should not be hasted over!

And then in the middle you back to slower.

    Enjoyed it anyways!!

  • very very fine :)

  • His hair is amazing.

  • i love this vid it it one of my favs i had this song to practice ballet in class now i remember tnx ppl for posting this vid. most ppl think this is boring but its awesome so ppl who think its boring u suck haha

  • I this and I love the way you played it

  • Man, i swear this song gives me the chills but also makes me feel relaxed at the same time. This is awsome, plainly said. Straight forward, scary song rocks!

  • Wow, there are just no words to describe how you played that. (:

You play it with such feeling and I love the effect you added to the video, it makes it seem so dark and mysterious! I'm currently learning this song and I'm finding it alright, however do you have any tips on learning this piece? The change in #'s is a real pain. Lol.

  • U r my inspiration but I suck at piano :( the only song I know how to play is Harry potter theme

  • @canada2000gh lol

  • You shouldn't need to thank us at the end of the video. We should be thanking you for sharing this with us.

  • The most astounding moonlight Sonata First Song i Ever Learned Due to your Help And hopefully this is the last song i'll ever learn to play (: The song is easy but the emotion is the hardest part

  • the middle of this song is so epic...

  • @ytschlittk piece, i mean piece :)

  • @ytschlittk if by 'middle' you mean the part between the very beginning and the end.

  • @DeHomunculus actually i mean from about 2:12 to 3:16, but yes the entire piece is fantastic as well

  • Youre really good, how long have you been practicing?

  • wow...first time, i see a post on youtube where there are no hateful worlds or jaleousy or racists....that feels so good.....n the music is sooo pure!!!!

  • Awesome Andrew - thanks for sharing your love of music with us.. God bless you!!

  • nice

  • This is my absolute favorite song by Beethoven. You play it so well. I have started watching your lessons and am excited to learn how to play the piano. I have always wanted to learn how to play. Piano music is just so beautiful, wither it is a sad, sorrowful song, or a happy song. God has really blessed you with such a wonderful talent. And you are so young too. I hope you go far in your life and I hope God continues to bless you! Thank you for taking the time to make these lessons.

  • WOW

  • Upload the third movement. The one where you have to play presto agitato. Good work, though.

  • I love this piece, very dark and moving at the same time

  • When is the cover on the piano opened and closed? Is it to muffle the sound?

  • @TheRealDealio different cover/top placements give the piano a different sound. When it's all the way down, it let's you hear the low frequencies more deeply, with it part way up it's more of and even tone with high and low coming out equally, with the top up, I find you hear the upper frequencies more clearly. This is because high frequency sound waves are wider while the lower are narrow and can pierce through the wood. So you change the top according to the tone you want.

  • @Lypur That makes sense. Thanks.. but wouldn't high frequency sound waves be shorter than low frequency; like light waves?

  • @TheRealDealio :) we're talking width not length. A high frequency wave has a wider "wave" so it has more trouble passing through objects like walls etc. This is partly why when a car rolls by with a loud stereo you hear the bass booming much more than the treble.

  • @Lypur im gonna roll by in my car booming this song

  • @ytschlittk haha :) nice with only one half of it detailed? ;)

  • @Lypur Like in the water, the crest to crest of each wave and the space in between?

  • @Lypur Not sure that's true. Higher frequency waves have shorter wavelengths (frequency=wavelength/speed). Higher frequency waves can pass through surfaces more easily (x-rays, v. high frequency). I think the main reason that top down lower frequencies are more easily audible is that the natural frequency of materials such as wood of the piano is lower than the natural frequency of smaller surfaces therefore the bass notes set them into forced vibrations and resonance more easily. :)

  • I have the music to this song but its to complicated lol

Can u do a lesson on it plzzzzz :)

  • Wow I'm going to Favorite this... One of the best interpretations I've ever heard. And I love the video effect. Its pretty much if Beethoven was a youtuber this is what he would put for a video.

  • beethoven is best compositor in the world

  • very beautiful! i love it!

  • beautiful song

  • I listen to you to help me become inspired. Your videos make me want to play (I play guitar but I try to play these songs!) impeccable timing. Beautiful playing.

Fantastic. Keep doing what you are doing.

  • could you post a tutorial of this song...please...

  • Andrew that was lovely, dont change, I love your teaching and your playing, have learnt so much

  • i wish i had a piano to play with

the only piano i get to practice with is the one at school

  • @SexIsNotForKids I recommend doing a local search on Craigslist for pianos. Even in a remote location such as where I live, people will give you their piano if you arrange to have it moved. Professional piano transport runs around $250.

  • You created a nice atmosphere with both your playing and video editing.

  • that was really beautiful, thank you

  • one of my goals is to completely learn this song! i have alot of trouble with the key signature but with the help of your videos i will master this song! i loved how you play this by the way! :P

  • Hey, just wanted to say thanks for all your videos, both musical and instructing.

The musical ones inspire me, and the instructing ones help me learn.

I'm mainly a guitarist, and I learned by copying what I could hear, but your videos teach me new things, and I hope to be good at piano one day too(I play a few songs by ear on that too, but I don't know much about it, and I'm not very good).

    Don't stop posting any videos!

  • Oh my gosh I lovve this song!! I've been trying to learn how to play it for the longest! <3

  • Very nicely done Lypur. With your video lessons and my determination I am sure I can achieve my musical goals. Thank you so much, I am in your debt.

  • Incredible!

  • amazing! i loved it! ur a wonderful pianist lypur n a gr8 teacher! :)

  • amazing!i loved it! ur a wonderful pianist lypur n a gr8 teacher! :)

  • Good job Lypur, keep it up.

  • Great song :) :) i started learning it :D xD

  • god i love this song.

  • I listened to this for an hour:]

  • Wow super saiyan plays moonlight sonata XD jokes ur hair is wicked! Oh yeah and very nicely played! :D

  • I just found you yesterday after trying to figure out how to get back to playing and to start over with the correct fingers. I'm looking forward to see your videos. Darn that you live in Canada, you are so cute.

  • I just found ou yesterday! I wanted to get back to play and learn the right way -not my messy fingers. I'm so happy, I'm a teacher too and I know what you mean to do this because you know it makes others happy. Well you made me happy, there's no way I could get to do lessons right now and you are making it possible. Also, damn that you live in Canada and damn that you are only 24 ;-)

  • Lypur can you post more videos of you playing the piano. It's such a joy to watch and hear you play too. But, sometimes its too much theory in your posts. Thanks

  • @ashleiyy Hey there, Right now i'm actually trying to finish off the theory course, once those are out then I'll probably go back to posting more music videos :) I don't have many new idea's anything other than music after that!

  • @Lypur You could share your knowledge about classic compositions and discuss what makes them classics. I mean for a layman like me, I would like to know why/in what way/how a particular composition is so unique and brilliant. But that's just me.

  • This guy is amazing! Lol i like his spiky hair. Im going to learn this song soon. I probably wont be goood as him

  • I used to love to play the piano, but I cannot even afford a little electric one, other than a really bad kid's one I have write now. Still, an inspiration. Love the clothes style there, man. XD

  • very good job I just love it .

    keep it up :)

  • I know u said ud never do it again but it would be awsome if u taught us moonlight sonata

  • @Soccermaniac3555 Learn notes and then you have a tutorial lol and if you suck at reading notes write them on paper as letters... it's all you need.

  • @Kill3rCze i guess i can try that but im a better learner when i see some one else doing it.

  • Your vids have Bern so amazing last sunday I practiced for eight hrs watching ur vids and i'm 16 and only been playin for a weak. You really are inspirational and you should be very proud about what your doing cuz it's helping a lot of people. :D

  • love this song and you do a wonderful job of playing this, i hope one day that i can play like this and express my emotions and feelings through music

  • Fantastic! It makes me feel... I can't express that in English (nor in Spanish which is my native language). Thank you so much for your videos. They really make me want to practise more and more to improve. It's a pitty I started with the piano when I was 31 because I've loved it since I was a child. I won't become a great pianist but it's great what I feel when playing.

I wish I had a teacher like you (if I could pay a teacher) but your videos really help and inspire me.

  • @ninesita31 thank you so much for your kind words :) It's every pianists hope to be able to inspire their audience. My advice is, try to appreciate where you are at any step of the journey.

    Take care

  • wuhh I like this music very much. very creepy but you played it lovely. A magnificent, opulent, tremendous, stupendous, gargantuan, bedazzlement, a sensual ravishment! Can you play Claire de Lune and La Campanella? please please please!!!

  • you're very good.. such an inspiration

  • @certi5cute Thanks ^_^

I hope the inspiration makes you practise hard and become a great pianist!

  • I wish you would make a tutorial over your version!

  • This is fantastic.

  • Think you can try the 3rd movement?

  • YOU make him so aliveeeeeeeeeeeee.....thk

  • The sadness and pain of this makes it so beautiful also makes you wonder.

  • omg i love this song

  • There's playing a piano... and there there is playing a piano.

Piano isn't about hitting the right notes, it's about the emotion involved when you play said notes.

You hit them all perfectly, Andrew! Well done. mate! :D

  • You rock DUDE!

  • Very nice to listen to, thanks for sharing Andrew. Ignore the social outcasts (e.g. truthinmedia). If you'll notice, 95% of the time pompous snobs behave in such a way is because they feel threatened by their own mediocrity. You'll also notice that 95% of such people do not have a single recording of their own available for viewing. It's the same with everything though, even in video games you'll notice the guy with the biggest mouth is usually the worst player on the team. Have fun out there
