That was sooooo helpful. I tried fixing the stapler by myself and finally had the bright idea to google it. Within minutes, the stapler was fixed and I feel like the office hero.
Unfortunately, this repair didn't work with my Swingline model. The thin piece of metal at the top is attached to the black clip in such a way that it can't be separated from it the way you demonstrate. This makes the repair a helluva lot more difficult and I had to use a special modified hemostat to get the damn spring in place before attaching to the slider goody.
Oh my gosh, thank you for this! Fixed my heavy duty Swingline after scratching my head for an hour....on a lark, typed it in Google as my last resort and found this. Awesome!
I didn't have to ask my husband to fix something else for me! you empowered me! thank you thank you thank you!!! my model was a little different in that instead of the two holes to feed the spring through it is one hole and a small plastic rod that fits into two notches in place of the second hole - it was a little tricky getting the spring around that while keeping it in place but your process worked for me to.
Thanks so much for the help..my stapler blew appart all the pices..as i was trying to staple..an i cud not be abble to put it back together i didnr know were that lil T shaped metal goes...an it was pissing me off..but ur video saved me a headache..
Thanks! I fixed my Stanley Bostitch stapler using the same basic idea, although I couldn't do step 1. I had to use an unfolded paper clip to hook the spring and get it through one of the two holes.
Thanks! I just repaired a stapler which has been abandoned on a drawer for ages because of not being able to figure out how to put the spring back on. You helped save this one from the dumpster sir, thanks!
Thank you! I just fixed my broken stapler. I looked for a good thirty minutes on the internet on how to fix mine with no luck till I found your video.
I just knew that somebody out there on the internet had to have a "how to" for replacing that pesky spring . . . and YOU were it. I had replaced it myself but it wasn't working correctly (because I threaded it wrong) and now it is working perfectly. Thanks so much for thinking to help us with such a simple thing!!
Thanks everyone for your possitive feedback!! I'm glad I'm able to help people thanks to the power of youtube!! I'll try to keep putting up helpful and useful videos for people like you! Peace!
Great Job, can you do one on how to replace the bottom part. I had a staple jammed and I accidentally knocked it off, a small spring came flying out with the piece that says"Use Swingline" High Performance.
my mother bought a new stapler simply because the spring detached, and she thought it broke. Lol thanks for the video
