  • Is this guy suposed to have been funny?

  • @getthefuckaoutmyway yeah just some people don't get it, I personally think he was the greatest comedian to ever live.

  • Ok OKAY! ok OKAY! How have I missed out on Mr Kaufman for so long? The guy is just incredible

  • Everyone seems to love this guy and use words like brilliant(sic) but everytime I see this guy perform I'm looking at my watch and thinking of the things that need to be done the next day.

  • @clintbronson5 sic uses square brackets like this: [sic.] If you have things to do tomorrow then don't feel obligated to watch Andy Kaufman videos. He is pretty cool though, I like that he just doesn't take life seriously at all and constantly tries to get people to react to him. He might piss you off or make you really vicariously uncomfortable, or genuinely make you laugh. Watch his performance on the Dating Game.

  • @RyderRocks73 He doesn`t make me laugh, piss me off or react in any way whatsoever. He just isn`t funny.Simple. Shite like that today wouldn`t even make it to t.v. It`s dated garbage.

  • he reminds me of peter sellers. he was so many characters ....i wouldnt know which is him even if he was being himself.!

  • The most advanced comedian of all time.

  • Explanation There are two personalities presented in this clip - you have the asshole andy kaufman, and the very nice, charming clean wholesome kaufman. In the beginning, he introduces the notion that he is a bad human being. We begin to label him as an antagonist. However, as soon as he does something so innocent, such as sing a child's song about animals, we suddenly don't associate him with the original presentation of character and want to like him and sing along. We are being trolled.

  • @gregMF

he sounded like ALEX in the beginning clip !

  • this guy lost me I've tried to find humor in his work, but he really comes across as a retard, I feel watching these people during this era that they were just laughing at him and really didn't know why. What a stupid show

  • @23Finndog Kaufman was a genius. Your inability to understand what he was doing makes you come across as a retard, not him...

  • so he was the one pranking the real thing going on in the shows... ? lol

  • A comic genius, far ahead of his time.

  • The missing development of a genius.. you must pay close attention to understand.

  • I've got sound Mwhaha! >:)

  • I love Andy Kaufman.

  • Dudely Jones Comedy Tribe are the next Andy Kaufman!

  • Wasn't he just horrid to that stagehand? It was only water.

  • Sheer brilliance. Andy Kaufman is a fucking prodigy!

  • This is staged. The guy wearing the headset is Bob Zmuda, Andy's comedy partner and co-conspirator of their many elaborate hoaxes. Still great to watch though -- very ahead of its time.

  • This is totally a put-on. The stagehand is Kaufman's friend, Bob Zmuda.

  • If only Bill O'Reilly was kidding around like this...but he wasnt.

  • ...I have sound... USAAAAA!!!!!!!! :@

  • @klugyboy Balls.

  • Zach channels Andy

  • dude would have been a serial killer if it hadnt been for tv

  • @trashologist what the fuck is that suppose to mean?

  • Here I come to save the daaaaay!

  • He's just a stage hand. Get it through your head alright?

  • A perfect ironization of typical then and today public proposal.....I always stand in the back at shows and concerts, and watch the crowd goes like CATTLE after the "stars"(leading cow)....with IMAGE.

  • one dimensional piece of work...

and he's considered a genius by some.

    LOL

  • that's bob zmuda his best friend not a "stage hand"

  • Was the stage hand Bob Zmuda?

  • no sound in russia?

    what a surprise:)

  • WIth sound its funny

  • I got pissed cause i thought my head phones were broken till i read the comments

  • Comment removed

  • The "real" andy kaufman is just that. Always joking around.

  • no sound here in the southeastern u.s.

  • no sound

  • Thats Bob Zmuda as the stage director , The world needs more Andys and Bobs

  • no sound :( can you sub whats going on? would be appreciated.

  • No sound here either

  • Wasn't the guy he spat on his writer/childhood friend that helped him on all his gags?

  • no sound :(

  • The stuff with the crew guy was staged, so that they could show how quick he changes from being a jerk to smiling for the cameras. Something that is done quite often these days, when the director says "Action!" Looks like Andy may have "pioneered" that.

  • FUCK CENSORSHIP

  • is anyone else not getting any sound?

  • in some parts of the world the sound has been deleted

  • @bergduck such as where? because i'm in north carolina...and nothing.......

  • @bergduck shitty corporat puppets

  • :D in my country sounds had been banned!

  • @bergduck

in soviet russia, sound deletes you

  • @bergduck Yeah it's take a long time to have a conversation here.

  • @a1s2d3f4g5q1w2e3 uploaded VHS tapes sound at the right side of the stereo? No sound either in the Netherlands, a1s2d3f4g5q1w2e3

  • @a1s2d3f4g5q1w2e3 HAHA i got sound motherfucker. Oh wait you posted your comment 11 months ago im guessing you dont care now. Ummmmmmm sorry for wasting your time.

  • @MrAussiebloke12345 Interestingly enough, it is working for me now. Thanks for replying, or else I would have not known it got fixed.

  • Comment removed

  • @a1s2d3f4g5q1w2e3 I got sound YEAH!

  • Not liking someone is no reason to applaud their death.

In my opinion, how unconventional Andy is makes him a brilliant man. People who don't understand this type of humor, not to offend, probably lack the intelligence to understand this type of humor. It's called satire. Calling him an idiot makes you look like the idiot.

Some of the most brilliant people have been unconventional.. Kurt Vonnegut, Hunter S. Thompson, Jim Morrison, even Albert Einstein. Those who have the security to question t

  • Andy Kaufman wasn't a man, he was a character created by a man. That character died in 1984, but the man that created him didn't.

  • This was from The Andy Kaufman Special, where he gets in an argument about wanting bottled water instead of tap water during a "commercial break." He berates the director (comedy partner, Bob Zmuda) and snaps back into character at the last moment. Got one of the biggest laughs from the audience the entire show.

  • This is so fucking lame. If you want to hear genius comedy, have a listen to Bill Hicks.

  • @TheDreamMechanic bill hicks is cool.but andy is godlike.

  • he was a genius in such a way that no one knew

    which made him so brilliant

  • How can people believe this was real.. obviously it\s staged and funny as hell

  • the getting mean part, look's like part of the act.Well with Andy you can never tell that's what make's genuine.........

  • He was completely demented and had no real identitiy. Just like Johnathan Winters and Peter Sellers.

  • r.i.p man

  • ok?

  • @massmayhem12 - okay!

  • err isnt that bob?

  • His face reminds me a bit of Gene Wilder! Andy Kaufman's great.

  • TTYL hhaha

  • Big fuckng deal... he had his thing but people talking about genius and doing what no-one else could? Seriously? Based on what? The world has hardly been struggling for laughs with those that paved the way for Kaufman or have come after wow!

  • In case anyone is still arguing about whether this was real or fake or some sort of secret gag on the audience etc, you might want to take note that the bit starts with Andy doing a perfect "spit-take". It's one of the oldest sight-gags in the book but it isn't as easy as it looks and not everyone can perform it correctly in order to make it spray. It takes some practice.

  • If anybody thinks that Kaufman was not aware that the camera was on, then you weren't around when he was alive. Kaufman never missed an opportunity to offend facetiously. His genius was one-of-a-kind.

All these years later, the world is still waiting for another like him, and the wait will go on forever.

  • Freeze the frame at the very beginning and look at Andy's expression! That says it all, ha ha!!!:))) Pure genius!

  • I love how the guy screws up his lines.

  • the begining was staged he reeally messed with peoples heads

  • andy never tried to be funny...... he like to fuck with peoples heads...... performance art.

  • @Abrading1....seriously? wow I laughed really hard wen i read that.

  • "Borat" shocks the crowd to make the television viewer entertained. Kaufman shocks/confuses everyone

  • perfect. 5 stars, great clip.

  • so calm HAHAHAHHAHA

  • GENIUS

  • Green and Galafinakis and Cohen are all funny...

but they're not Andy Kaufman. Not even a little bit. I don't know if we'll ever see another Andy but we can always hope.

  • Andy didnt follow the normal comedy where the audience gets to laugh at the joke. The audience is the punchline. Other people watching the audience are laughing like crazy. To see their uncomfortable chuckles and then total confusion is priceless. I think one thing that all can appreciate is how he stayed in character. Not even a wink. He was great.

  • Agreed. Would you say Sascha Baron Cohen seems to be the Andy Kaufman of this generation? Andy was just way ahead of his time, I think.

  • Another person insulting Andy Kaufman. Just stay away & watch Tom Green, if you're going to put Kaufman down. Your silly comment was uncalled for.

  • Him and Zach Galafanakis. Sascha is a master of the Character acting...but I think Zach has really got the Anti-humor down.

  • @EtherPilot anti humor? lol far from it

  • No way, "Borat" isn't on the same level as Kaufman by a long shot. Andy was perfect for his time because his antics were unheard of. That's why so many people can't understand who he was.

  • I was thinking the exact same thing when I read your "witty" YouTube name. Watch more Kaufman videos & spend time commenting on him.

  • That's Bob Zmuda

  • and THATS the way IT goes ! :)

  • there is no real andy kaufman lol...

  • @IgotNext1986 actually he was real. He was completely a real person, if you look him up, you'll find things over him. He appeared on SNL, Letterman, Taxi and a couple other things. Don't comment unless you truly know what you are saying.

  • @IgotNext1986 check the rare interview on my channel, its the real thing, i know, and hes clearly bothered by the audiance, but he did it to himself, people didnt always groove on his wrestling a chick from the audiance

  • If any of you thought this was Andy just being mean, then you are definitely not familiar with his unique wit. His routines were always much more character-based than punchline-based, because Andy hated cheap laughs (such as sitcom humor).

  • a long long spaced out laugh.

  • @avastyelandlubber nice referenece to the movie

  • @avastyelandlubber he was in a disney channel sitcom, lol.

  • This isn't the full clip guys find it , it is better.....

  • hehe..

  • No, this is Andy acting. The "stagehand" is really his manager Bob Zmuda.

  • No, this is Andy acting.

  • you could see andy smile a little bit when the stage hand called him andy instead if mr. kaufman!

  • LOL he's just kidding xD

  • I'm just happy for getting it. :)

  • okay

  • :( I feel ripped off because I don't get it :(

  • Well, that's too bad. A lot of us do. You should watch something you "get". But, It's cool.

  • Why thank you for your pointy, pointy words, klwewf. I'll take your advice and watch something I "get", like talented comediens.

  • Good. And, you're going to have to do better than that......

  • Watch the movie "Man on the Moon" and you'll get it.

  • ShmAAAAAcK!

  • your stupid.........its funny cus hes all mad one moment then he acts all happy the next

  • It must hurt to be that stupid.

  • Hahahaha I love him! hahaha

  • haha what a little fucker hahahha. awesome.

  • genius

  • ok?

    ooookay !

  • Yeah, I think the stage hand was Bob Zmuda... Andy's collaborator.

  • was the stage had his friend that he does pranks with or just some poor shmoe?

  • such a great entertainer! being an ass to a 'stage hand' and then singing the animal song

    OK!

  • He trolled everybody, for great justice and with no remorse

  • Good comedy involves breaking the 4th wall. I now understand why andy concidered himself an entertainer rather than a comedian.

  • i think actually he considered himself a song and dance man.

  • Very funny

  • Can't stop clicking on Andy Kaufman's Youtube videos. It started a year ago. It's a sort of compulsion now, I guess. ;)

    He WAS a GENIUS.

  • i started yesterday... lol...

    he was unique!

    rest in peace andy <3

  • we will never know the real andy, the real andy was never apart of his performance art. we can only appreciate his conceptual constructions. And for those of you stuborn none artist that ridicule, thats great, he made this to expose you ur ignorance.

  • Yes, but how do you really feel ?

  • That's a good reply to his horrible comment. You can't fule ignorance.

  • haha andy still getting people mad 25 years after his death(?)

Complete strangers will probably still talk about you too many years after your death

  • ok so what DOES make u laugh....staplers...child rape....9/11? look ur entitled to ur opinion..which i highly beg to differ..but insulting a mans death is fukin slander & is really low....i bet he got a lot more done then u ever did ever do & ever will..oh yea & im sure millions of ppl watch u daily...

  • Hey, I love Andy Kaufman, but child rape and 9/11 make me laugh too.

    You're being unfair.

  • good joke, andy would have like this one...

  • Awesome!! :D

But I wonder if Andy is really dead or was that just the "ultimate" prank that he did to finish what he was doing with wrestling and kindda insulting some people. Still he was a genius because he was differend in a good way :D

  • Spring watah!

  • so authentically terrific, it's almost unbearable.

  • easy killer,

i'm aware that it's staged. also, you're second question only proves that you are very unfamiliar with antihumor (a brand of humor shown above) that should never be delivered with a smile. who wants an all smiling, joke telling comedian anyway? i might as well hire a clown.

  • You're entitled to your opinion. But, what's funny & gives me TWO smiles is that you're here & have watched more than one Kaufman clip (be honest) & took time out to actually comment. Kaufman would appreciate that love & attention. And, a true testament to his creativity & memory. Please comment again. This time, with something even more dumb.

  • Good job. You didn't disappoint. Can you outdo yourself again?

  • No, sadly..........

;( I do not have the ability to be any more stupid

  • You reached th critical limit, uh?!

  • He's just not trying hard enough....

  • where is the full clip?

  • That's not the real Andy Kaufman!

  • Poor...Poor Bob Z. LMAO!! What a pair of genius. Ok.

  • O.K.

  • i don't think he was a troll. i think he was doing a lot more than just 'disrupting.' it seems to me that he was showing life is a performance. we're inherently social beings, so we don't have to get hung up on the imaginary dichotomy between 'authentic' and 'imaginary'.

  • awsome

  • total genius

  • Pure genius

  • he is the best

  • look at his face at 1:24

  • Andy is just acting

  • We're all just acting. That's why he was a genius. He made us realize that.
