MMA has evolved, but GSP has fought for nearly a decade (fought in '02, UFC debut '04), and he's at the cutting edge of it, so I doubt Fedor's too old. After PRIDE, he just seemed to stop caring about proving himself as a fighter. Maybe it's wealth, religion, family, I don't know, but he needs to radically change his approach to fighting.

@sktbd5001 ,before 2008 Pride FC was the best MMA organization,even better than UFC. And Zuffa(Dana White) decided to buy and close it. After that practically all top fighters of Pride signed with UFC. And Fedor could fight there,but his managers wanted to earn more(not money,there were problems in process). As a result,not many fans of mma know him good because he didn't fighted in UFC. But in Pride he was a real legend,he hadn't losses there and he was the last champion of Pride for many years

He seems like a very humble and caring man, but when you see his fighting ability to be a sophisticated brawler(I mean in the raw power that he has)....it makes me think he is extreme on both sides of the spectrum. To me that just equates to a man with a vast amount of depth. I wish the best for him.

the amazing thing about fedor is if you look at him...he's not this big ripped guy with toned arms & a six pack....so if you were to just look at him you wouldnt think he trained or in great shape...but then you see him fight and its incredible to see how quick & powerful he is....also its amazing how calm he looks when he's fighting, he prolly looks the same walking down the street as he does when he's in the ring...amazing fighter

@popularhacks 2.57 is the eye of the tiger and looks like he wants to destroy , he has lost that recently .. i think because he has 2 lovely daughters and is out of poverty and has proved and bought him and his whole family a lifestyle .. he wins at life for all i care he could keep losing " i don't like seeing it " .. but the sport is evolved into a cage which he isn't comfortable in and fighters are huge now on protein shakes which is a shame! greatest of all time in mma though :D
Why are people saying Fedor a bad fighter, and giving that he's tubby as a reason? Fat for a fighter his height in the Heavyweight division is actually a good idea, put on more weight and build more muscle = more damage inflicted. I think anyone insinuating that argument is a bit uneducated in fighting. You don't need washboard abs to knock your opponents out. Case and point, Fedor v Arlovski, and Fedor himself nearly knocked out by Fujita. Do the research.

@563250 Yep, for a heavy he is short. A good 95% of his opponents always out weigh him, out reach AND have height over him. He fought physically-superior opponents and went undefeated for 10 years.
And I'm 6'1...so standing in front of him LIVE made him seem short to me because i'm taller...not only that, everyone in SF HW are taller then him as well.
This was the first fight I've ever seen Fedor truly exhausted. It's time to get out of Starry Oskol, iron sharpens iron, and there's no one left there that will bring out the best in Fedor. Time to take training seriously and hook up with Josh Barnett or Randy Couture, or join a good camp. If he wants to stay as dominant as he was he's going to have to get into excellent shape and get his speed and strength back. Otherwise, he'll be relegated to mid top-10 ranking, and he'll only get worse.
This Fedor would have run through Silva. Never seen Fedor more prepared and focused than he was for the Crocop fight. If Silva had beaten up Aleks first Fedor would have been out for blood.

@nextertube Fedor used to have well-timed aggression. Now he's just a total wildman, and doesn't set up anything other than that overhand right. He doesn't kick, go for takedowns, or gnp like he used to. He used to be an excellent striker who could also transition flawlessly into a takedown. He just simply isn't the Fedor he used to be, and although his new standup has been relatively successful as of late, it was his vicious gnp/takedowns/striking in combination that made him so dangerous.
Even tho he just lost to someone like 40lbs heavier then him and like 5inches taller he should not be discriminated he was fighting his fight. Obviously GIANT Silva was wayy to big for him to handle. In my opinion he is the best fighter still with only 2 regular loses..I like mirko he has like 7 loses I dont care..Also look at Overeem he is now considered the best with 11 loses on his record..Overeem just became dominant, Fedors always been Dominant since the start. THere shud be Superheavys

Fedor and Crocop are the most humble fighters in my opinion. They have never ever insulted any other fighter(as much as i have seen) and crocop even publicly attacked the Croatian journalists,verbally ofc, for insulting his opponent, on a tv show. Fedor on the other hand is friend with everyone before and right after the fight, and what i respect very much about him is that he never forgets about his wife and family!
He is the best.. This is training for Miko Cro Cop and he is training his stand up more than his takedowns ground and pound... In that time Mirko was the best stand up fighter in MMA.. Fedor is amazing,great respect from Croatia

Tyrone Spong is a world class kick boxer..one of the best...he did very well against Alistair Overeem...that was awesome to see Fedor train with Spong
I find it so absurd when people say that Fedor is past his prime and/or that he should retire--he's 34! Lesnar is 33; Shane Carwin is 36; Overeem is 30, almost 31. Look at fucking Randy Couture: he was the UFC LH champ at 43--and he, at 47, is still fighting. It's true, many MMA fighters hit their prime in their late twenties, early thirties. Thus, Fedor's better days, like CroCop's, might be behind him. However, I think he still has a few more years in him where he will be in the top 5

When he's walking down that hall you can really see how immensely beefy he is, just a fucking log of muscle. May have a little fat but it's mostly muscle under that shirt.
heres my theory on why Fedor is well...Fedor! Thousands of years ago when homo sapiens (us) were just coming to be on Earth, Neanderthal man also existed, although alot shorter then the human form was MUCH stronger with a more robust bone structure(explains the Randleman slam!), previously scientists believed that the two species DIDN'T interbreed. BUT scientists are starting to believe that there interbreeding may have occured...thus I think Fedor MAY have a mix of neanderthal DNA in his genome

This was the first fight I've ever seen Fedor truly exhausted. It's time to get out of Starry Oskol, iron sharpens iron, and there's no one left there that will bring out the best in Fedor. Time to take training seriously and hook up with Josh Barnett or Randy Couture, or join a good camp. If he wants to stay as dominant as he was he's going to have to get into excellent shape and get his speed and strength back. Otherwise, he'll be relegated to mid top-10 ranking, and he'll only get worse.

This Fedor would have run through Silva. Never seen Fedor more prepared and focused than he was for the Crocop fight. If Silva had beaten up Aleks first Fedor would have been out for blood.

@nextertube Fedor used to have well-timed aggression. Now he's just a total wildman, and doesn't set up anything other than that overhand right. He doesn't kick, go for takedowns, or gnp like he used to. He used to be an excellent striker who could also transition flawlessly into a takedown. He just simply isn't the Fedor he used to be, and although his new standup has been relatively successful as of late, it was his vicious gnp/takedowns/striking in combination that made him so dangerous.

Even tho he just lost to someone like 40lbs heavier then him and like 5inches taller he should not be discriminated he was fighting his fight. Obviously GIANT Silva was wayy to big for him to handle. In my opinion he is the best fighter still with only 2 regular loses..I like mirko he has like 7 loses I dont care..Also look at Overeem he is now considered the best with 11 loses on his record..Overeem just became dominant, Fedors always been Dominant since the start. THere shud be Superheavys

@Hallzy1990 Silva was 50lbs heavier at the moment of the fight, and fedor fought bigger people, he simply never went easy on his body and he's getting old, and silva isn't simply big but is a very good and underestimated fighter, gotta give him that, and if it wasnt fedor he was ground and pounding any other fighter would have gotten knocked out

@Vykuk123 Nothing wrong... He has been in too many wars, 34 is not old but not young at the same time, i think he is already tired, after all he has been competing professionally for 10 years and that is not something easy to do!

Fedor and Crocop are the most humble fighters in my opinion. They have never ever insulted any other fighter(as much as i have seen) and crocop even publicly attacked the Croatian journalists,verbally ofc, for insulting his opponent, on a tv show. Fedor on the other hand is friend with everyone before and right after the fight, and what i respect very much about him is that he never forgets about his wife and family!

He is the best.. This is training for Miko Cro Cop and he is training his stand up more than his takedowns ground and pound... In that time Mirko was the best stand up fighter in MMA.. Fedor is amazing,great respect from Croatia

Why dont they put mma k1 and boxing champs into a competition and then we'd see whos best of the best.Just imagine Fedor vs Vitali or Alistair Overeem vs Wladimir or maybe David Haye vs whoever is an ufc champ now, that'd be hell of a fights and millions made.

@teanshin you obviously don't know what you are talking about. In boxing for a world title match, both fighters can share around 50 M us dollards. In STRIKEFORCE K1 UFC DREAM ..... the money is not BIG.
Do you really think alistair or fedor would miss that kind of opportunity if they had the level to compete against a Vitali Klitschko or a David Haye ? They would get murdered specially fedor coz is a small heavyweight.

boxing rules: fedor and overeem get murdered
kick boxing rules: overeem has his chance, fedor gets murdered coz his too small
(klitschko has professional kick boxing experience)
mma rules: overeem and fedor finish their opponents via submission

all this talk of fedor retiring, you think a guy that says "i fight for money" straight out is gonna retire early? he doesnt care about his record you could tell, and the man seems quite humble. hes going to fight until he cant, i dont see him retiring until hes in his 40's, im in ny im goign to see him feb 12. in jersey, cant wait! say what you want, all these ufc lovin zombies came in their pants when he lost, fedors number fuckin one. who else gets that big a deal made when they lose?!

I find it so absurd when people say that Fedor is past his prime and/or that he should retire--he's 34! Lesnar is 33; Shane Carwin is 36; Overeem is 30, almost 31. Look at fucking Randy Couture: he was the UFC LH champ at 43--and he, at 47, is still fighting. It's true, many MMA fighters hit their prime in their late twenties, early thirties. Thus, Fedor's better days, like CroCop's, might be behind him. However, I think he still has a few more years in him where he will be in the top 5

heres my theory on why Fedor is well...Fedor! Thousands of years ago when homo sapiens (us) were just coming to be on Earth, Neanderthal man also existed, although alot shorter then the human form was MUCH stronger with a more robust bone structure(explains the Randleman slam!), previously scientists believed that the two species DIDN'T interbreed. BUT scientists are starting to believe that there interbreeding may have occured...thus I think Fedor MAY have a mix of neanderthal DNA in his genome
