Actually,in the st movies you saw a little thing happening between Uhura and Scotty. I liked that. I'm old school Trek. I would like to see Chapel and Spock together. I'm a romantic.

Yep, Chapel's in love with Spock (but he's with Uhura), her feelings begin to fade and Spock starts to notice her (in a romantic sense, rather than just a colleague).

,however people cant compare uhura/chapel because tos and the 09 film are different realitoes,but the reaon why i loved spock/uhura was because they relationship was like aragon and arwen(which is one of my all time fav couples)

I wouldn't say they are exactly the same, Uhura and Arwen are quite different characters. Spock and Uhura are a happy couple at the end of the 09 film, whether Arwen/Aragorn have to put their duties first to save the world before their relationship. Maybe for the ST sequel, there might be something to make the Spock/Uhura relationship more emotional, we'll just have to see. I would say the Aragorn and Arwen relationship is far more tragic.

@EerieAlice yeah u make a point,what i meant was their attitiude both aragon/ arwen and spock/ uhura relationship is very private however not secret,its like they can understand eachother with only a few words(i dont really know how to explain it but am sure u get it)

its not like all the typical idotic love story were the couples are all over each other all the time and jumping of cliffs to express emotions

aragon/aren and spock/uhura are a no nonsense couple .

I finally figured out why this video made such an impression on me. Even though the clips of Sar-Jo and ZQ are separate ones, it's edited in such a way that not only makes it seem like they're speaking to each other but that they have some serious chemistry. Fantastic.

Compared to a lot of people I had no problem with the whole Spock/Uhura thing. But I definitely would have prefered Chapel - dunno, would have felt "better".

Yeah I heard McCoy call over to her for something and responds with, "Yes Sir!" I'm sure she's okay, in the last few scenes of the reboot there are a few blonde nurses still alive and working in the medical quarters. Christine could be any one of them. :)

I'm very pro S/U in the TOS, I love Leonard and Nichelle's chemistry in the series. I sorta wish in 'Plato's Children' the writers had STAYED with Spock & Uhura in that episode. I felt for Christine because she didn't want to take advantage of him. There was something to me very off-ish about Zach and Zoe's chemistry, they were speaking, but I just didn't feel much. I remember thinking 'They should have added Chris into this turbolift scene' like a prolepsis.

I can see that is what Roddenberry intended, however he wanted pair nealy everyone with Mr Spock. Kirk/Spock to be soulmates, Uhura to be romantically linked and he wanted Christine to marry Mr Spock. As much I thought the S/U scenes were cute & I DID enjoy the reboot. I'm sticking with Spockel because I just find it more interesting, than S/U, they are vastly different relationships. Different emotions, different intentions.

If this was a TV show , I believe nurse Chapel would be ideal for Spock. There is time in this format , to develop the relationship. But in a reboot movie with time and storyline constrains, not likely to happen. As much as I love Spock and Uhura together. I feel the writers will have to return them to being friends. And because Chapel is not part of the bridge crew, she would have a better chance at a lasting relationship with "our shy guy".

I agree with piratejenny25. Part of what this "ship" is about is showing, giving the viewer a greater understanding of who Spock and Uhura are. Aspects which were not quite highlighted in this way before. Aspects which are shown though a meaningful connection, an intimate relationship. In TOS & past movies Uhura was in the background . In this reboot, she has be elevated closer to the level of Kirk, Spock, McCoy. Uhura is one of the original "seven". Nurse Chapel was developed later.

TOS Uhura wasn't apart of the background at all, she was brill. I felt for Nichelle when she said HER role would always be cut from the script. That was very unfair. U could hold her own, she didn't need to be tied down. I love Scotty/Uhura in the 4th film (I think). I like the dynamics of 'opposites attract' & that IS them. He's eccentric with a sense of humour, she's sassy & strong. I love em! I found it unfair on Chapel's side, as she was in TOS BEFORE Chekov, Chris was in it from S1, Ch S2.

Zachary Quinto did say something about a possible love triangle between Kirk, Uhura & Spock. So maybe. I guess I could see Kirk/Chapel, but that just means Christine would be limited just to be a love interest, like Uhura was. I'd rather have her character developed, the way she should have been.

I think the romance between Spock and Uhura adds depth and interest to the new franchise. Saying Christine would be limited is like saying McCoy would be limited

You see I never found Spock/Uhura interesting, cute I guess. S & U are great characters, but together they just didn't work for me. I do agree with you, on some levels but if the writers liked Chapel... why wasn't she apart of the new film then? It was an extra playing her, all I heard was McCoy shout over and she replied "Yes Sir!" That was it, you never even got to see her. I guess it could have been running time, continuity, scipt problems, or more simply JJ & the makers didn't care.

I think when most people think of ST they think of the main crew members, Spock, Kirk, McCoy, Scotty, Uhura,Checkov,Sulu. I really love what JJ has done with the new franchise. Its exciting and fresh, yet at the same time its the same, I think as the franchise continues more characters will be introduced since Kirk is now Captain it would make sense that Chapel would be working with McCoy.

Great video! I adored TOS Christine Chapel and her underestimated affection for Spock. Too bad it didn't solidify into a lasting relationship.

I won't deny the Spock/Uhura scenes were touching and well done. But having seen TOS I still wish JJ Abrams would introduce a new Chapel who is deserving of love and trust.

Like I said to another user, I'm still gonna prefer Spock/Chapel to S/U, they're just far more interesting to me. AU Uhura and Spock take themselves far too seriously. I prefer Scotty/Uhura - they were cute & funny & WERE in a relationship, in the prev films, I think. ;)

Kristen has a similarity to Grace Lee Whitney, there's something there in the face. The makers should get someone more unknown. Scotty/Chapel? Hmmm...to me they are perfect as bestfriends. I'm a Scotty/Uhura person all the way. :)

After seeing what they did in the movie with Spock/Uhura, which IMO made sense, I really do think they should stick with it in the sequels. BUT I would probably change my mind in a minute if they could somehow get Kristen Bell to play Christine just because she and Zachary Quinto have so much chemistry together.

Yep Spock/Uhura is great, it's a pity though Spock/Chapel IMO is very creative & interesting, it's sad that their relationship won't be explored further than it was in TOS or in the AU versions. Kristen Bell would be brilliant in the Star Trek franchise, I prefer her to be Yeoman Rand, I think she'd have great chemistry with Chris Pine, they'd mirror each other lovely. :)

Wonderful vid!  Thanks so very much for the Spockel love. I'm afraid that this pairing may be lost in the new AU ST franchise. But at least there are still vidders out there who keep it alive. ;-) And, for what it's worth, I think your choice of S.J. as a young Chapel is really good! I wonder if the second movie (if there is one) will include Spock and Christine's relationship? I read somewhere that the creator of Star Trek REALLY wanted Christine and Spock to get married; it'd be amazing to have it incorporated into the next film.

I heard about that too, Gene Roddenberry wanted Spock and Christine to have more scenes together but I guess it didn't work out right for the series. In the reboot, the writers original idea was actually Spock/Chapel but they swapped it to Spock/Uhura instead. I've heard that a sequel has been commissioned, I'd LOVE it if they incorporated Spock/Chapel. :) They'll probs take it down the Kirk/Uhura/Spock trail though instead.
