Pleasure is a funny, funny thing. The harder you work the better it feels once you finally finish. People, however, derive pleasure from all sorts of places, too much to talk about in a youtube comment.
Dude you've got to get ride of those frames from your website. That's outdated as hell and interferes with spiders locating and indexing your website.
@GloomBoomDoom Well they look very similar to frames but I viewed your page source and I think you're right. But you should definitely update the look of your website. I actually enjoy your vids and I'd hate to see people turn back for the trivial reason that your page doesn't look modern. Good luck!
I just don't buy this positive is only a removal of negative stuff. Pain and pleasure are just mechanisms to force animals to behave in ways that benefit them. They're equally valid and they are distinct. The argument that it's a one way street just doesn't seem very strong.
“When you're a beautiful person on the inside, there is nothing in the world that can change that about you. Jealousy is the result of one's lack of self-confidence, self-worth, and self-acceptance. The Lesson: If you can't accept yourself, then certainly no one else will.” maalanyc Sasha Azevedo
When I was younger, my whole sense of self-worth was based on whether or not I was working, which was awful. And I had a baby at 20 years old, so it wasn't just about me. At around the age of 30 there was a stretch where I wasn't working - certainly not on anything I liked, anyway - and I started to do other things.
I loved making 'Rising Sun'. I got into the psychology of why she liked to get strangled and tied up in plastic bags. It has to do with low self-worth.
Every word, facial expression, gesture, or action on the part of a parent gives the child some message about self-worth. It is sad that so many parents don't realize what messages they are sending.
All the research shows that being married, with all its ups and downs, is by far the most effective way of making young men law-abiding and giving them a sense of purpose and self-worth.
I disagree with the pain/suffering thing. In a lot of cases, yes, thats true. But you can go into the 'pleasure positives' without having a negative and taking it a way. If you eat food when you're not hungry, it still tastes good. Pleasure. Your brain gives you a fat chemical shot of pleasure for keeping yourself alive. You're not removing anything. So I'd say suffering and pleasure would always be felt considering how you JUST felt. Pleasure can make average feel like shit etc.
thanks for the mention, its ooj, not oog tho, lol! jus sayin
i certainly dont agree with much of what Rand says, tho i do think much of her philosophy is misunderstood, and she gets it bang on with the god stuff.. but then thats not difficult.. anyway, her sometimes wacky ideas doesnt mean her book aint worth the read.
The study of quanta has been touted as magical so its hardly surprising its drawn pyrrho and others like a moth to a lightbulb. Of course its absurd and Neils Bohr should be shot for pushing such mush. Bohr infers nothing is real unless it is observed!! It gives the religious nutjobs ammunition to claim that the universe only exists to serve man. Such arrogance is offensive and Machiavelian.
