Totally agree with cooliocoolio29 about listening to good old classic rock I know so many people in my class that ask me, "oh man have you heard______ new album? It's so awesome." And I'm like, "Who the hells that?" lOL
man i wish i lived back in that time. im only 14 but its sad knowing that being in a rock and roll band will never happen. unless i start a screamo band or emo band i will just have to wish. songs now a days just dont have the emotion like these do. ill make this promise to you tom petty, gnr, boston, white snake, who, led zep, i will always listen to good old classic rock till the day i die. "tear rolls down cheak" till the day i die.
Coolio, we need people your age to help bring back rock and roll...you're the next generation of musicians. Tom Petty started with nothing more than a dream of being in a rock band. Don't let pop culture get you down--if you've got a dream to make music like this, never give it up.
Dude, listen to john mayers "say" .......... yeah, hes a douchebag lol. If he were around 40 years ago noone would remember him. Tom Petty's been succeeding since 1976, cause he's original, an artist.
All you haters suck a dick cause john mayer is not a doche and why would you think that
youre probably just fucking jealous that hes 10 times cooler funnier and better at playing guitar than you are so suck a dick and die cause theres nothing wrong with covering a song
heh douch, douche, whatever, he's a mind-numbing stupendously idiotic douche-bag!! I've seen enough TMZ clips of his antics and there's nothing more annoying than a famous douche-bag whose not funny, think he is, what a dick!!! ugh!!! I wanna hurl my TV thru the window just thinkin' bout it!!!!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
hey, dickwad, TMZ tells it like it is, it's real, it's his clips makin' an asshole outta himself, don't shoot the messenger dude, not my fault u've got a hardon for douche-bags, get over urself why don't u
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
tmz a bunch of assholes who got nuthin better to do then stalk notable people and rip on them for being normal. so watch who you says got a hard on. its not like you can even get it up.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
hehe if ur pussy ass was here u'd be my bitch-bent-over-the-sink, u'll see just how much I have to get "up" ur just an angry homo-repressed douche-bag fan, not my fault, TMZ is the only TV mag that doesn't kiss celeb ass to the point of being sad and pathetic, like Entertainment Tonight, please give us all a break why don't u...oh yea and get a life dickwad, seriously....
my comment was less about the people who wind up on TMZ and more about the fact that following TMZ is an absolutely ridiculous thing to do, a complete waste of time, and probably makes you... a douche.
TMZ... who CARES, why on earth does it matter, if john mayer is a douche bag???
well there's obviously something wrong with u, unlike Entertainment Tonight where they relentlessly kiss ass, TMZ gives it to u str8, no bullshit, just the facts, and vids to prove it, so get a life asshole, seriously
Are you seriously defending TMZ tooth-and-nail? How embarrassing. From the looks of your comment, I am going to assume - quite freely - that TMZ is in fact giving it to YOU straight, fuckin nerd!
aww go cry... the new foos song is epic and i will continue to buy their albums no matter how similar to previous artists. so go listen to your tom petty album and reminisce on how great he was till you discovered "wheels" ... fool
Wait, are you asking if I think "Wheels" is a blatant rip-off? Why yes I do, though I don't see what managing the foo's would have to do with that. I'm just, as a fan, really disappointed in the Foo Fighters. And I get the arguments, but at the end of the day "Wheels" is just too similar for -my- tastes.
I never claimed it was a ripoff, just that it sounded similar, enough to make me recall "Fast Car", that's all...Besides, it would be impossible for Chapman to rip off Tom Petty unless she happens to know the secret of time travel, seeing as "Learning to Fly" came out nearly 3 years *after* Chapman's self-titled debut in '88...
As for your observation about the similarity between "Fast Car" and "Jack & Diane", I can hear the influence there, but I don't think that any more of a ripoff, either.
I had always thought him a little bit "punk" and difficult before this, but loved him for it.
Then one day he met up with my childhood Idol Jeff Lynne who was simply walking along on the side of the road when Tom recognised him and said "Jeff we should work together!".
Legendary.
That is why we are here watching and commenting ladies and gentlemen!.
The song is written by Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne from ELO. They became friends long before they did the traveling wilburys. The song is about the experiences of Tom from childhood, through adolescence, drugs, prostitutes and his own inexperience at the time he had to face those pretty much by himself.
i was listening to free fallin then my dad showed my this song and its great! i probably would have never heard it if he didnt tell me and im glad he did : )
No it's not, he has the lower neck tuned differently so he can do the slide solo at 1:44. You can't do that in standard tuning with a slide. Just uses the top neck for rhythm.
