@659521 He did not die, he chose not to compete anymore. He only competed for the prize money for Mei Lin's operation and in the second he took the nose of the Tengu to try and help her. Now that she's better he retired. Elliot even refers to him in the present tense in his story mode.
something tells me hes gonna train that little girl the way he did eliot in dead or alive 4 and the little girl might be in dead or alive 5 :)
