yeah, it's cool & all, stick tricks but you know its the skill with the skins & cymbals that matters, & the creativity & feeling. yeah there's a certain amount of performance for "show" but gimme a good time, sync beat (mystic rythms...) it's not like the drums are up front, they got to back ya up! hey don't get me wrong, it's real cool if you can play like bruford. copeland, peart, & you know, when in doubt, twirl... hey congrats on your baby girl?! YEAH welcome to the world, baby girl!
@mythtree Amen on that one! I'll never come close to some of those drummers b/c they spend an entire DAY learning-I haven't the time w/ my kids now to look after-but I have played better than some and that is simply b/c THEY probably didn't invest as much time....it's ALL in time man! I watched a Beatles tribute band called Rubber Soul, and the only guy I really HATED was the Ringo impersonator. He constantly did drumstick tricks between songs and my dad (who's also a drummer) and I were really annoyed that it felt so out of character. They were a FANTASTIC tribute, though. The guy who sang for John sounded incredible. You should look them up.
@lotusfae Ah, yeah that's always the thing Brit, I mean I understand "pyrotechnics" for marching bands and whatnot, that's part of the show. But I found a youtube video of a dude who had this douchebag attitude about how much cooler he was than other drummers that couldn't do that "stick thing" so I just HAD to make a video to counter him.
@Thejbirdy Douchebags suck! I think we need T-shirts that say that. Minneapolis is treating me well! Had a drunk old lady on the bus judge me for my low-cut dress the other day and tell me to "be careful" and "look out for myself." When she got off she told me "I'll call you," so I imagine she was also pretty nuts. Other than that weird story, things are just dandy! Graduating with my Master's in a few weeks... woohoo!
