@KnifeBSting You should be able to, It's not the controller that records but the program - so if you're running the full version of Traktor ot TP2, you should be able to record.

I have now got Traktor in preperation of my VMS4 thats coming soon. It's much better than VDJ i must admit however when I record mixes and play them back the pitch and speed is much lower than I could hear through my speakers.
Also when I mix in Traktor every songs pitch and tempo I put into a deck is set by default much higher than it should be.

i have an issue while recording in traktor 2, i can record but when i listen back not only can hear the track playing but also the track i'm cueing to mix, even though the channels not up, when i did the mix live i had no problems

But i do have one question for you. How do i convert the recorded mix to mp3 conversion for windows as ur video shows the conversion for mac pro ? Also can i still use my new audio card. Numark DJ iO audio. or is it usless to me now
@Mrja3ki Hi, thanks for your comments, you can still convert to MP3 (if you need to do so) using itunes on a windows pc in pretty much the same way. right click the tune and there should be the option to convert to MP3. You an still use your Numark Soundcard, especially for playing out live - definitely if you want to use a controller with an external mixer and more than 2 decks
I have on my Macbook the software Traktor Pro 2 and the controller Numark Omni Control and I have a problem when I try to record a dj set... While I play it i can liste quite well but on the cd, the audio quality is very low.. I tried to change the Latency and Sample Rate but the result never change.. The Main Audio is on 0dB.. Which is the best combination of these elements to obtain a high quality audio in my cd recorded?
Everything happens the same here as with mine, but when I play the wav file in itunes, it plays it and has the correct time for the recording but absolutely no sound. So my computer is recognising the file but no volume. Any help?
you need to go back to the mix recorder option in prefrences and deactivate the external icon (I'm assuming it is on) and switch it to internal. Test recording and make sure u see the levels move on the master and on the recording sections. that should fix it.

Hello mate i was wondering if you know how to burn the mix so when you put it in a cd player when you hit next song it hits the next song in YOUR mix like those dj compilations like in search in sunrise the whole cd is mixed but it has each track separated its so annoying that if you want to hear a song from the mix you have to wait or fast forward thanks and nice video

If u want your mix to be on a CD why the hell would u convert it to MP3 1st, that doesn't make any freakin' sense!
A WAV file is uncompressed so iit's much better sounding & is perfect for a CD, u only need it in MP3 format for sharing on the internet or for your iPod since it's a smaller compressed file.
Converting the original source just to put it on an audio CD is just plain retarded cause it doesn't change how much u can fit on the audio CD but it will degrade the sound, that's just lame!

U want your music on SoundCloud so it makes perfect sense to convert it to mp3, or if u wanted your music on a portable mp3 player but there is no absolute reason to convert to mp3 for an audio CD, that's just false info, unless it's an mp3 CD but not an audio CD. I've met people who work on music, record themselves, convert to mp3 & delete the wav, that is retarded!

Hey Simon, I use Traktor Pro internal mixer with the MBP. Over the last couple of recordings, everything goes great until it's time for me to open the recording and listen to it.
As soon as the tune comes near to a bassline, it skips a beat, goes back a beat and then plays normally again. Kind of jittery. My latency is set at 30 ms... What could be going wrong? Appreciate any help...Cheers bud.
Simon, I'd like to know if it's possible to record using an external mixer (Denon DN-X120) with the NI sound card Audio 2. I have no 'booth' input on the mixer and it is only two channels.
@IanDJcolorado - Hi there, I'm no real expert in that area but the fact that the mixer onlyhas two channels shouldn't be an issue - the booth output maybe an issue though - I'd have a look through the NI forums to be honest as I'm sure you'll find your answer there, and if not it's the best place to source help.

nice to see it records in wav, this file format is way bigger and therefore sounds better than MP3 however if you play mp3's in your mix and record them in wav they wont all of a sudden get much better sounding.

i have tested this out and it is recording BUT when i listen to it the scratches i do the high pitched sound when there isnt a sound on there but through my spreakers it actually does have the sound :/

WTF is this itunes thing? I don't get it. There's nothing better then just store mp3 in normal folders click them and play in fuckin Winamp. Fuckin "I"-men just mess in ppls heads with their lame stuff. I guess in its converter you can't even set the bitrate of the mp3 file, but correct me if I'm wrong. Fuckin i-shit. Cdex program with LAMEmp3 Encoder kills the itunes encoder.

When making a CD of your recorded mix using iTunes, you don't have to make MP3 files out of the .wav. Just use the wav files since iTunes converts the MP3's temporarily to .wav files anyway before it burns them to disk. Besides, you go from lossless, to lossy, back to lossless again, and you've already lost some of the sound quality converting to MP3.

Yes you can. It records whatever you do, that then becomes its own music file and can be converted to itunes. You can then DJ any itunes track in T.Pro. You can then play it and record it again with another record expodentially until you create a time vacum and the world falls off its hinges so becareful. :)

Is it possible to do a basic mix in traktor pro using just the program? I have a DJM 800 and CDJ1000s but I want to do some quick mixes while travelling just on my laptop. Thanks in advance
@pridders No link (not allowed), but search for "camtasia studio", very good program. There are other free alternatives such as hypercam (for windows) or Pure Mac: Screen Capture for mac, search "screen capture mac free" on google and you should be able to find one :)
@pridders a screen recorder is software that records whatever is showing on your screen ideal for videos that are showing something on screen most people on youtube doing explanitory videos use them as far as i remember cam studio is a good free one just google it havn't used one in a while thoe.

I've got traktor 1.1.2.004 just like you, but my mixer that i have connected to my PC with windows on it, is a Reloop Digital Jockey - Interface Edition, and when i pushes the preferences button there is no such things as recording and stuff. I only got: Audio Setup, Output Routing, Input Routing, MIDI Setup, Loading, Transport, Effects, File Management, Data Location and the last one is Global View Options. You don't NEED to compress to mp3. Just burn directly to a cd. You won't loose any sound quality that way.

Basically on deck A, there's a beat loop running While I'm scratching on deck B. And just want to record my scratchs.
Is there a way Traktor sends me both signals in my mixer but just send back one to my computer?

Simon, I'd like to know if it's possible to record using an external mixer (Denon DN-X120) with the NI sound card Audio 2. I have no 'booth' input on the mixer and it is only two channels.

@IanDJcolorado - Hi there, I'm no real expert in that area but the fact that the mixer onlyhas two channels shouldn't be an issue - the booth output maybe an issue though - I'd have a look through the NI forums to be honest as I'm sure you'll find your answer there, and if not it's the best place to source help.

That's beacuse you need to alter your master settings.
Click on itunes > preferences
in the box near the bottom where it says 'When you insert a CD' - ignore that and go tp the far right and click 'Import Settings'
Where it says 'Import Using' - change from AAC encoder to MP3 Encoder, click OK.
Now when you have a track highlighted you can either right click and it will give you the option to convert to MP3, or click the 'advanced' tab & the option is 5 lines down.

hmm.
nice to see it records in wav, this file format is way bigger and therefore sounds better than MP3 however if you play mp3's in your mix and record them in wav they wont all of a sudden get much better sounding.

i have tested this out and it is recording BUT when i listen to it the scratches i do the high pitched sound when there isnt a sound on there but through my spreakers it actually does have the sound :/
what have i done wrong?

WTF is this itunes thing? I don't get it. There's nothing better then just store mp3 in normal folders click them and play in fuckin Winamp. Fuckin "I"-men just mess in ppls heads with their lame stuff. I guess in its converter you can't even set the bitrate of the mp3 file, but correct me if I'm wrong. Fuckin i-shit. Cdex program with LAMEmp3 Encoder kills the itunes encoder.

When making a CD of your recorded mix using iTunes, you don't have to make MP3 files out of the .wav. Just use the wav files since iTunes converts the MP3's temporarily to .wav files anyway before it burns them to disk. Besides, you go from lossless, to lossy, back to lossless again, and you've already lost some of the sound quality converting to MP3.

Yes you can. It records whatever you do, that then becomes its own music file and can be converted to itunes. You can then DJ any itunes track in T.Pro. You can then play it and record it again with another record expodentially until you create a time vacum and the world falls off its hinges so becareful. :)

@pridders No link (not allowed), but search for "camtasia studio", very good program. There are other free alternatives such as hypercam (for windows) or Pure Mac: Screen Capture for mac, search "screen capture mac free" on google and you should be able to find one :)

@pridders a screen recorder is software that records whatever is showing on your screen ideal for videos that are showing something on screen most people on youtube doing explanitory videos use them as far as i remember cam studio is a good free one just google it havn't used one in a while thoe.

Hallo. First of all thank you for this great movie. I've got traktor 1.1.2.004 just like you, but my mixer that i have connected to my PC with windows on it, is a Reloop Digital Jockey - Interface Edition, and when i pushes the preferences button there is no such things as recording and stuff. I only got: Audio Setup, Output Routing, Input Routing, MIDI Setup, Loading, Transport, Effects, File Management, Data Location and the last one is Global View Options. Any idea hos i can record my mixes?
