When in doubt of what you are seeing in your sights, SHOOT DAMNIT! LOL, I love it!!!! "Hmm, I think that's a target. Hmmmmm." No, it's your neighbors brand new Budweiser baseball cap that he was trying out when he showed up to check out what all the dang noise was about.... LOL
Haha, that looks like a videogame the way you have that set up. I've actually been thinking about trying to make a "budget" NV setup with an IR camera and small monitor..
Nice video. I've been wanting to do some videos too. What I've been worried about is destroying my camera, recoil. What did you do about that if anything. I want to mount my camera above the scope, zoom to about 20 MOA at 300 yds. I'm afraid the recoil will slip the glass on it. What camera did you use, was it a tape camera or a hard drive camera. If you have the interest on giving me any information I am 10thpowerx1.
Camera is a Sony HDR-CX560 with 64gb flash memory, no hard drive. I have the camera cushioned to some degree to prevent recoil messing with the picture quality. My next task is to try this with an EoTech.
shouldn't one squeeze with the tip of their finger hold it it all the way back until the round contacts then release? I'm curious to learn more about long distance shooting, just a question
When I am watching one of your point of view videos like this one, I find myself holding half a breath and waiting for the surprise break of the trigger. These videos actually make me feel like I'm the one shooting!
Tnoutdoors9, I am a pretty big fan of all your videos, and I am very curious how you can have all this land, ammunition, guns, and yet still have time and money to make these [GREAT] videos. Is the land inherited? Do you get paid for this?
Well, thanks! This tract of land is in the family, I'm pretty much the only person who uses it. I've been stocking up on ammo for several years. Alot of what you see was purchased quite some time ago, I just cycle it out. Regarding the firearms, I've tried to maintain a steady pattern of buying something every year, but recently went on a binge and bought several. I am fortunate to have a great job and just do this in my spare time.
I was wondering how large your tract of land was. I've been contemplating buying my own tract for shooting purposes and as far as I know, the only limitations are sound ordinances in the area. How much land do you think would be large (acres) enough to fit all of your shooting needs? This may or may not include long distance shots (1k)
That's really an incredible set-up you've come up with. From the looks of the holes in the stock there must be a 1/4" x 20 stud that you anchor the video camera with. The whole thing is just rock solid.
Actually, those holes were from a setup attempt with the standard def camera in 2009 or 2010....it did not work. The bolts hit the recoil spring that is in the stock, not a good thing. Painters tape over the camera, duct tape over that, and a small piece of wood about 3" x 7" for the base....which was set crooked on this video, unfortunately. Extremely cheap but effective.
Believe it or not, 75 gr at 700 yds. However, 69 gr consistently at 200 to 400 yards. I don't reload, so just wish there were more 69 gr loads produced commercially.
i cant tell if its just the way the camera is mounted on the stock or wat, but it appears as though ur scope's crosshairs aint plumb and level. like i said it could just be the camera.
@tnoutdoors9 ah k because i knew as much as u shoot u would have noticed that. because i notice it imediately if i pick up a weapon that isnt mine. or if i put a new scope on a gun.
I'm thinking about teleprompters here. Might sound like a stretch, but think about it. I have no valuable practical suggestions, but if you somehow could set it up so that you can look through the scope past a pane of glass at 45 degrees, with the camera perpendicular to the direction you're shooting, you might be able to shoot like you normally would? Given you have enough eye relief in the optic, etc. Just a fleeting thought. Perhaps someone else has more input?
@zooblestyx Second thought, here's another idea. Maybe just as impractical. ^^ How about on a side rail, you could set up a second optic, dedicated for the optic. That would also allow you to shoot wassum video without having to aim through a view finder.
That could happen sooner than later. I left the mount on the rifle when I put it back in the case. So, the next time it's out............and maybe some tracers also.
can you do this with an eotech at like 100 yards i want to buy one but i would like to see the sight picture(please do not co whitness the rifle. reticle only please=)
This may be a stupid question. but i have never used a proper scope really. not enough to realise. if you move your head from side to side a little, does it make the sight be off target? Or does it work like a read dot sight?
Awesome shooting and visuals is an understatement. I have trouble with a scope on an air rifle from Ruger getting it to have a cheek weld consistently so the scope hits where the crosshairs are located. I actually would aim at a close target, pivot and it the distance target, but if I aimed at the distant first it would barely miss to the left. To shoot that well using a camera viewfinder is astonishing.
You should do a shooting video like this with a cheap BSA scope, and a leupold, and do them side by side to give people who are new to optics an understanding of quality vs economy.
Would really help people out who are missing the point.
Those gallons really have a nice response at 200 yards. I wonder if at that range with your setup the bullet is really "doing its job" regarding the ability of the round to tumble and disintegrate.

Given you have enough eye relief in the optic, etc. Just a fleeting thought. Perhaps someone else has more input?
