I have just started getting serious with my boom operating and on the few features that i have done i have alot of respect for your ability to let alone get the mic as close as the camera will let you but also avoiding all the people around you! fantastic work!
Whith all respect, i did some pretty tough stuff in the past 10 years sometimes more difficult than this video. I agree that long, lot-of-movement scenes keep me alert and i like the challenge:) I also boom movies in languages i don't speak and improvise a lot. You get the picture of how awesome i must be:) Anyway who is taking all these videos?
Saludos
Yes, many people would love to listen to the original sound recording of this scene..
I've tried to get it from the sound chief and also from the post-sound studio, but it's been impossible as this was filmed in 2006 and they have erased it from hd's..
Is this an internally cabled boompole, or some sort of wireless setup? I don't see the cable coming out at the base of the pole. How is the audio reaching the sound mixer?
@niceguy2685 - practice and experience as well as learning the script and blocking...and also this guy does it all euro style with no headphones. would love to hear the boom track with that though.
Very well, manuel. I don't think the difficult of this take was holding the boom, the real dificult it's know who is going to talk at any time, and decide who its the important voice when more than one person talk at the same time. Just one thing, I would have done the take holding the boom in the other way, i say, using the left hand to operate and the right hand to hold the boom, just for see the camera all the time. Anyway, congratulations.
Wow. I'm a boom operator and i've never encountered such a fucked up shot. Longer shots, yes; more complex shots mabe; but never a shot that combined this length with such a great amount of movement. That's one heck of a pro.
fucking samurai!!! loved it

You should put the sound that you captured during the scene! So we could have a better ideia about the sound of this scene!

One boomie to another - you're a fucking hero!!! I love how, at the end, every one is clapping for each other and no one notices the true hero!!

Really impressive!!
I've boom operated on a few occasions and I know how hard it is to pull off a shot like this with such elegance. Respect!

a schoeps or a 50? wirless, but with kind of one? zaxcom? lectro?
a hate that long shots,.

schoeps.
senheiser 3000.
long takes with a lot af movement and character are some of my favourites. They make me be alert.
as more difficult it is much more funny it gets.

hmm should I buy a cardioid mic?
plianto 4 years ago
not to mention the movement and the dialogue/where to point...
Despite moving a lot and vibrating the boom pole (well there's audio sweetening), I admire his endurance, reflex, etc.
plianto 4 years ago
f**** hell...that is one professional Boom Mike operator...it`s really not easy holding the boom for such a long time...
