@rodgangster Animal friend is better, with animal friend atleast animals arent attacking u. With animal friend 2 you ca recruit dogmeat, and he is a pretty effective ally. Mysterious Stranger never shows up at the right time, and he can screw up one of the best perks in the game known as Grim Reapers Sprint.

I was playing fallout 3 once, and saw an enclave eyebot, now i like to snipe them with a cheap .32 pistol for fun, but the mysterious stranger appeared when i went into vats. funny thing is, he missed every shot.

If its the "Terrible Shotgun" you can find it at Evergreen Mills - search inside the compound for the Evergreen Mills Bazarr. It'll be on a character named Smiling Jack. You can either kill him for it (fastest way) or reverse pick pocket him. (this way, he can live and can continue trading with you)

If it isn't that, its a normal Combat Shotgun, which becomes somewhat more common at higher levels.

The mysterious stranger is so annoying. I was fighting against a mark VI turret on the ceiling, and when the mysterious stranger came in vats (twice in a row, actually), he appeared in the air an just stood there. Then he left without firing and I said: "Gee, thanks ya stupid jackass!"

no he is not a good perk. He only comes in if the enemy has low health left, so he basically cant help you in a fight. He also STEALS your kill so you don't get any experience from the enemy. His gun also does about 9999.9 damage, which is a waste since he only comes in when the enemy is about to die already. Basically he cant fight like a ally, he steals your kill and experience, and has a uber gun that cant be used against real tough enemies unless they are going to die anyway.

No you can't. He's just a perk he comes in and like kills the person you tried to kill in vats but he only appears when the person has less then half health.

Unfortunately it sucks, ColGuns said it already, and there's one more problem - since he steals your kill you don't activate Sprint of the Grim Reaper when he appears - and it can literaly kill you in tough encounters with multiple enemies.
