  • this is very informative and clear. thank you. :)

from what i see i was lucky for my audio not to work.

  • 23 are anti-nature :(

  • I'm a kid who is one of the smartest in class. I live in a house that probably has lead paint.

And I don't know of a single thing that isn't recycled. Name something! The green movement will be what kills us.

    Also the lyrics are wrong.

Buy it, use it, break it, fix it, trash it, change it, mail-upgrade it...

  • @CountryKid1010 What do you mean the lyrics are wrong? The lyrics are adjusted to make it focus on e-waste. You should have realized that since you are "soooo smart" (btw the music and voice is also different to the technologic song)

Oh and all that stuff you see on the dumps in the video. That is not (properly) recycled

  • @Alexf2105

From Wikipedia: A joke (or gag) is a phrase or a paragraph with a humorous twist. It can be in many different forms, such as a question or short story. To achieve this end, jokes may employ irony, sarcasm, word play and other devices. Jokes may have a punchline that will end the sentence to make it humorous.

  • @CountryKid1010

Also from Wikipedia: An idiot, dolt, or dullard is a mentally deficient person, or someone who acts in a self-defeating or significantly counterproductive way. Archaically the word mome has also been used. The similar terms moron, imbecile, and cretin have all gained specialized meanings in modern times. An idiot is said to be idiotic, and to suffer from idiocy. A dunce is an idiot who is specifically incapable of learning.

  • NICE

  • Planet doesn't need saving, we need saving. We'll kill ourselfs.

PVC releases chlorine & HCl when burnt for anyone whom is interested.

  • We all have to sacrifice to save the planet. I for example, had to listen to 5 minutes of this execrable electronic music.

  • OK, so I drive a 23 year old car, with many more years of useful service left in it. But Greenpeace would see it off the road as a polluting old clunker. May I refer them to their own video?

  • If we didn't send waste 2 them they wouldn't have any money

  • they used a computer to make this

  • BEST VIDEO EVER!

  • Technologic :) Daft Punk all the way!!

  • LOL

    GREAT VIDEO.

    Technologic!

  • This video is purely commercial, in the end always sell to exporters

  • I'm a die hard conservavtive in the good ol USA. I hunt, I fish and I will always eat lots of rich tasty animals. That said, since being immersed in caring for my reef tank and having taken an ENVIRO BIOL class cause it sounded interesting, I have become more aware as to the ill effects humans have on the environment and just watched a follow up to "The Cove" on the green channel. If we do not protect our oceans we will lose them forever. Hunting is sustainable, overfishing isnt! YAY DAFT PUNK!

  • Why doesn't this have more views?

  • oh shit this made me think

  • what is the original song

  • Why HELL would 17 people vote down? There is litterally no reason rather than if you own a business related to electronics.

  • @RapidRiver22 the music is kinda irritating. but still I get your point.

  • what do we want.... well the situations says that we love living in garbage it appears that we <3 garbage and we </3 greenpeace.

greenpeace im with you, but let me say that i use TV, cellphone and laptop, sadly the world obligate us to use. What the technology have made us =(

  • I think this is more effective with the sound off

  • I'm so over electronic hugging hippies..

  • @trevgoodchild Why are you watching? This is something that effects all of us. If you disagree, go out there and hang out in the fields with e-waste, breathe the air, drink the water, eat the food. Then bitch about how you hate electronic hugging hippies. I'm not hippy, but I recycle, I care about animals, the environment, saving money and resources.

  • @studpuppy69 I agree with your comment, go out and see what is actually happening.

  • WOW !! This is crazy I never thought that the work was done in that way . where were these videos taken ?

  • So we should stop using technology?

  • THis stuff is ABSOLUTELY True -any one who says otherwise is lazy and in denial and doesn't want to investigate the truth

  • I understand that all the piles of old electronics are bad but I am a bit confused on how it is harmful to humans. How does the hazardous materials get into the human body? Do people go to e-waste junkyards and chew on the compters?

  • thats why company's are making eco-friendly technology

  • @1Rockyboxer1 haha eco friendly its a marketing scam...

  • @1Rockyboxer1 i hope this video was made on an eco-friendly computer... Lol

  • @IpswichPKerJoe lol, good one

  • i pledge to invest into making a suitable e-waste prosscessing factory.

  • I've been hearing more and more about this problem... I can't see anything being resolved anytime soon though. :(

  • Im surprised I made it through the whole video without muting

  • i threw my old cell phone at a whale. so fuck you hippies

  • @wafisherman7 apparantly you dont understand the fact that all the shit u own and everything you know depends on us keeping our environment healthy. but your what we call a dumb-shit so you wouldnt understand

  • why is everyone cracking down on te tech industry?

i mean, accumulation of toxic waste is a problem, but we have far greater goals at the moment.

and besides, computers have saved a countless amount of trees used for newspapers and other disposable fliers, cd cases and posted letters.

computers are the best piece of tech for the environment in the last 50 years.

  • @aidoanto221 Whats the use of computers and all this tech if humans aren't even around to use them. It's making us all very very sick.

  • We Watched This At School - The Song Is Cool - Homework Is To Try And Remember 5 Facts And The Song - Not That Hard :S

  • HI, do you have this video subtitled in spanish? thanks

  • Cadmium was used in older cellphone batteries but I haven't seen one in about 12 years... Except in 12yo cellphone. Yes, NiCds still have some popular applications but not in many "disposable" electronics (LiIon and NiMh is often more portable/dense).

  • This is an awful french accent... and i'm french, i can say that...

Anyways i like the spin of daftpunk and the vid...

  • Oh My God!

Poor People and they fat american that just throw this electronics away to small countrys, :(

  • I like the daft-punk spin on this. Though the accent kinda ruined it.

  • Depopulation of the entire human race (except for me) is the only answer. We must erase the human parasite plague that endlessly leeches upon our limited resources. We, the Wealthy Elite shall eradicate Global Warming, snuffing out the human life whoes very breath suffocates our Goddess Earth. With your help we'll create a better pandemic, a more lethal virus, a deadlier plague, in hopes that one day, the disease called Humans are utterly extinct. Because the world is a better place without YOU.

  • can i get this song from somewhere??

  • first of all, I have viewed a number of videos like this because I am sincerely interested in perhaps helping the situation one day. Yes I am an American, yes I have more than one PC and a bunch of other stuff, but don't blame us solely. It is every country where there is prosperity. Inevitable today with cellphones, the internet..2 groups which should be held accountable: The manufacturers and the governments. Also, notice how many of these workers are smoking? No regard for the earth or people

  • if electronics were not manufactured in countries with cheap labor and cheap materials maybe it would not be as bad.

in north america there is always certain measures being taken in the manufacturing industry to recycle and use recycled components. north americans replaced labor and self-sufficiancy with corporations and consumerism, where everyone outsources. if we manufactured everything we want and need, the environment would be alot cleaner, and everyone would have a job again.

  • Thespartan: in that case the price of electronic tools would be much more higher (because of the higher wages of the Amercian recycling worker) and some family would die because of huger (losing their job) in India.

    lose-lose situation..

  • lol, my citizenship teacher showed us this in environmental club at my school! i <3 this vid!

  • Other option would be not using mercury and other heavy metals to produce these gadgets.

  • People are not compelled to do this job in india. It's their only chance surviving in impoverished area.

If you stop exporting e-waste to the developing countries a lot of people will be unemployed or probably die because of the famine..

  • it's better than ruining the environment of the entire globe for decades to come with the air pollution and the toxic run-offs into rivers and lakes that result from their recycling processes

  • Yeah of course.

but I think the best solution is getting mercury, lead out of manufactoring gadgets, electronic tools and we could export these enviroment-freindly products.

  • Why don't we give them the jobs that are taken up by exporting waste? Why can't they be employed for a better purpose?

  • so how can I NOT contribute to ILLEGAL recycling????? I have five broken monitors in my basement but want legitamate recycling of them and not just pollute another country.

  • what if all this, is just lies.. just to make money from us to go their site and buy their stuff?

not what we do we already destroying the planet.

  • there's an organism close to where I live that takes old Broken Monitors and computers...; they somehow put the pieces together and then sell the whole thing for something like 10$

There are people who pray for the environnement everywhere and that are gladly helpful.... I'm sure you'll find someone, you just have to search... or be creative!! We, Humans, are an enlightened race after all.

  • where can i get this version of the song?

  • sounds like daft punk technologic

  • yeah, it does

    They made their own version

  • hahaha daft punk style

  • Even if all of mankind changed direction and actually started to care about the enviroment instead of raping it. And started to care about of all humanity instead of letting people starve or kill them in wars. If we achieved the perfect balance between Man and Nature. We would screw it up. We need strife , it is in our nature. Someway , Somehow we need to become better than we are.

The Road we are on surely leads to the end of mankind.

  • We're a direct product of the environment in which we are raised. It's not a matter of human 'nature', it's human 'behavior' reinforced by today's throwaway-centered society. Change the input properly and you'll see the behavior change accordingly. We don't need strife any more than we need war (or throwaway items).

  • PCGuit I wish I agreed with you fully. However we are animals and we do have animal instincts. Thus human nature.

The enviroment you are in does affect the way you think, but does not replace basic human nature, which I feel is "hardwired" into us. You see it everyday , in the way men and women react to each other, the mother instinct, "the leader of the pack", "the lone wolf", survival instinct, "packrats", etc..

  • love the sonG!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • it say's that the avarage lifespan of a gameconsole is only 5 years but i have a 9 year old playstation 1 that works also a 6 year old ps2 etc. and they all function like the day i buoght them. so most of the lifespans mentiont are incorrect.

but the music is great :).

ps: yes i checked the info before posting it on the interwebzzz.

pps: no i am not someone from the big factorybosses.

  • maybe thts urs, but the AVERAGE life span which means the average of all the lifespans of a particular group of people! and this is pretty accurate cuz i checked it out.

  • Obviously you didnt understand...AVERAGE life span for consoles IS 5 YEARS. When a new one comes out 4 or 5 years later we throw our old ones away, same thing with Televisions and Cell Phones. Just because your an outlier in the equation doesnt mean this information is false.

  • I never understood why we let corporates sell us such worthless stuff that never lasts long than 5 years so we can buy another one.

My Mom gave me her Turning table with huge speakers about 20 years ago... she bought it in the sixties, still works a wonder.

My roomie bought a pretty good stereo 3 years ago paid about 600$ CAN for it and it is fuzzing like crazy, we put my old can back instead.

  • Homeless man makes lamp that makes itz own power, great for third world countries, power outages, children gifts, mothers day

  • lol so useful

  • is there any possible way to donwload this video, or a video similar to this one..??

all help will be appreciated! :)

  • have you tried Downloadhelper, a very easy Firefox add-on which ALWAYS works ?

  • So maybe you guys will stop acting all crazy like you have been for thirty years? YES, this campaign might attract more donations.

Sorry, though. Cant defy NATURE, if you want a battery, you must have metals like these. Studying electrical engineering or an electrical apprenticeship teaches you that.

I still disagree with Greenpeace's INSANE position that somehow the WEST is responsible for the pollution in China.

    IVE BEEN THERE. ITS NOT

I also want some evidence where these numbers come from.

  • WOW, you've been thre! So, you MUST know what EXACTLY is going on over there.... Jeez.... Also, its not just about China. Yeah, now we wont a battery, next minute, we die. Also, I think this video is also about not to dump it like this, and not about not to produce it at all. But I also think that there is technology for a change, just some pple have too much money invested in this one. I'm not sure if anyone will miss the human race from this planet. We haven't been here for all that long.

  • Why pick on Apple, who has at best a 4% share of the pc market? They are already the most expensive brand of pc (or one of the most) on the market.

A better strategy would be to have Intel and M$ to enforce standards on the rest of the market which is many, many times bigger. IE.. To get the Windows logo, your product has to be environmentally friendly.

But bigger than that is forcing China to enforce environmental standards in it's country. Let's talk about all the NEW coal fired plants there!

  • It's easy, tell them we won't send any more if they don't respect their environment. Why do you think we loose so many jobs to the Chinese? A big part of it is that they don't care about the environment or their workers safety and we do and therefor it costs us so much more to do it. This is the price they pay for cheap labor and to steal our jobs. They made the stuff in the first place, why don't they make it in a way that is easy to recycle? Because it's cheaper not to. It's their fault!

  • i got 4 boxes of computer parts wont let them go to that ewaste dump in india lol planning on using them

  • hoe kan kik de songtekst vinden van dees lied? :)

  • This is a greenpeace-remix, from the original song is Technologic by Daft punk.

  • Yayyie !

This video has helped me ALOT.

    thank youu :))

  • hey hao can i get this song on my mp3 player??

  • you can convert the file to mp3, save it 2 ur computer and put it on ur ipod...thats what i did lol

  • Wow, that was really good. I came across this by accident but this video is really moving... Thank you GreenPeace. It's groups like yours that give me hope that the environment can be saved.

  • schade, daß es das video nicht auch auf deutsch gibt ....

  • they forgot one, fuck it

  • hmmm...

so lets stop and think how much time these kids take into making these videos...

lets stop again and see how much money they put into all there efforts

lets take these two concepts and then think...what if....i knew all this info that i could build these things, save the environment and make a huge profit!!! instead of whining and being the B****es of this world

  • Reliable?

    Er...

NOT IF IT'S MADE IN CHINA!!

  • /Agree. Companies and people in general should act for this to save our enviorment.

  • similiar with daft punk technologic music ??

  • lol! i can also say that electronic trash is arround 1-1000 tons... omg its not even precise

  • the funny thing is this video was made on a computer that was probly not "green"

the problem is not the consumers its the producers. most electronics and mostly all appliances are made to be obsolete in a few years. the motive for this is obvious. for example if you buy a washing mashine that was made in the last 10 or so years it will break down in a couple. my granmother on the other hand has had hers forever.

  • I agree... most " old machines " works perfectly and lasts also forever

  • my mom's pc is almost 10 years old! woot!

  • You know, greenpeace is the BEST thing ever for the enviroment! i think that their reasponsability is to warn about the damage and not to show new ideas, because this is companies responsability :D:D:D:D:D

  • read ENDGAME by Derrick Jensen

  • Well then, what are the brands that ARE green and renuable??, because I saw Samsung was just about and Nintendo wasn't at all... and are cell phones polluting too?? I guess the do but I'm going to have a new cell phone for my birthday so in this case, I would prefer getting a "green" one... thanks!

  • Greenpeace does the moaning but does no research or comes up with viable ideas.

  • 20 to 50 Million Ton's that's one hell of a variable.

  • Wonderful that GREENPEACE talks about this BUT WHAT ABOUT CHEMTRAILS????

Can you guys get on the case of CHEMTRAILS?!!!

CHEMTRAILS are darkening our skies, puttin POISON in the air and CONTRIBUTING TO GLOBAL WARMING...if not THE REASON FOR IT(!!!)

H.A.A.R.P. and CHEMTRAILS are the REAL CULPRITS FOR CLIMATE CHANGE!

carnicom (dot) com will give you all the info you need!

    PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS!

  • thank you, really thank you for your actions

  • Define we

  • So why doesnt the world just stop making all that bad stuff then. We dont need tv's, computers, or cell phones. Lets just go back to the cave man days!!

  • YEAH!! life was WAY simpler, there was no Bills or taxes or media to stress out about, there was only ONE rule: EAT, or BE EATEN!!!

  • And its made with a MacBook.

  • cool music

GreenPeace! make a new video on how things have changed...its 2008! we want to see whats changed! thanks. brilliant effort

  • Repairability would be nice.

It so often is cheaper to replace than do even simple repairs.

Cheaper to replace Remote than fix, even cheaper to replace whole DVD player than get new remote.

  • You hit the nail on the head. Things need to be less disposable and more permanent in general. Not very practical for computers since they become obsolete almost as fast as they need fixing so they just need to be low toxicity

  • Go Omar!

so RoHs compliance is Eco-design - completely unacceptable!! Ant chance of a guided tour of the CEBIT Greenpeace stand - looks fascinating!

    keep it up people

    Beijos form Portugal ;)

  • nice video but bad music

  • Nice music. Break it down now!

Seriously, the environment is by far more important than lining the pockets... or we'll all be screwed.

  • there was a smithsonian article about this.

you ought to be happy to know that i've owned the same tv for about twelve years. i no longer like tv shows, but it's on cable now. i've also used one other computer - since it's so broke, i keep it in my basement. that's an okay place, right? my tv can join it when it dies.

since there's no other way to toss this stuff...

  • good work on the video

  • jrgcool35, please read the reports of the Basel Action Network (BAN) on their website, before claiming (without naming a source) that 85% of e-waste in the US are recycled. The Basel Action Network published reliable information on the dumping of E-Waste from the US and Europe in Asia and Africa. Greenpeace also did research. The figures in the video are definitely reliable.

  • jrgcool35, of course we don't just do videos, but did also a lot of research about the e-waste problem. If you don't trust the information in the video just read other sources as well. Our toxics campaigner just told me the reports of the Basel Action Network (BAN) are good sources on e-waste recycling and dumping of e-waste in Asia and Africa. You'll find them on the BAN website (I can't link here but just google for Basel Action Network).

  • @jrgcool35 You have got to be kidding, and your post was 2 yrs ago? The city recycling place where I lived said they were shipping all the E-waste to Africa. Google all the 3rd world countries all our crap goes to, not to mention the rest of the so called civilized world. The poor countries are the real victims of our lust for technology and waste. I myself have disposed of 14 cell phones, 6 computers, etc. I've lost count of the broken TV's in my lifetime. Shame on all of us. Excellent video.

  • @biglosersowhat

Thing is, There always has to be someone on the bottom of the chain. The E-waste is being shipped to places like africa because there is a demand for it, since they extract the raw materials and sell it back into the markets. They have to make a living from something.

  • Il messaggio immediato punta alla completezza delle informazioni.

  • interesting...

  • once matter-energy converters come around, itl be all sweet.

put tv into machine, get out blanket, and nice little cube of harmless matter.

since everything in the universe is made up of protons, neutrons and electrons if we were to recycle things on a nuclear scale we could re-create anything from anything.

but that is 100 years off, so dont get too excited.

  • There has to be a way that we can do something...we all use computers now...they are part of our lives...It is up to us to find a better way of disposing them. Great video...you guys are great and thank all of you for you wonderful hard and dangerous work...I respect, appreciate all you do.

  • Cul video, but a bit too long. I got it atfter 2 minutes.

  • Tvs, appliances could be repaired. It's cheaper to junk them, purchase new. My dad was a research chemist for a major chemical company. He developed a coating for cars so the exterior would always look new, heat and cold resistant. It was rejected by auto manufacturers because we'd keep our cars longer, and not replace them. It was such a good product, NASA uses it in the space program. We have the technology. Manufacturers sell products that wear out in a short time solely for profit.

  • consumer society, comsumption craze growing every second....

  • Optimal video!

    Thanks!
