Natalie is sing the Aretha classic "Day Dreaming" She always admired Aretha and early in her career tried to compete and sing like her. Good version but the original will always be the best. Natalie Cole however is the first lady of Sophisticated Soul and I am so glad to hear this version.

When Natalie was introduced, the media and others compared her to Aretha and billed her as the New Aretha causing the usual drama.

I love them both. Yes, the original is better but this was a fun fresh version as well.

well actually natalie did try to sing like aretha. when she did the songs in the 70's she has said later, that she was thinking how would aretha handle a song. thats where the gospel wells came from and other similarities, natalie never went to a baptist church so that gospel influence, came from aretha. like the concert she did in 75 with cleveland one of those is posted.where she sang gospel, she must have listened to arethas amazing grace before she sang it.
