That is NOT true and you know it. Pandits were bing harrassed in kashmir and were being labeled as "Indian" Hindu dogs, rather than kashmiri bradar. Now what is done is done. The persians, afghans and turks were the invaders who brought Islam into kashmir. Hence, present day kashmiri culture and language has strong middle eastern and central asian influence. Kashmiri Muslim culture is strongly SUFI inspired, while the Pandits are Kashmiri Shavites. Kashmiri Muslim culture/religion is different from Porkistan and Pandit religion/culture is different from India.Both Muslims and Pandits have more in common than different. BUT independence is NOT possible because of Porkis. More realistic is for Kashmir to get more autonomy within the larger nation of India. Sort of like a nation within a nation. @valekashir I am sorry but i disagree with you with respect to Omar (although I agree regarding his dad, lol). I think that Omar Abdullah is intelligent and articulate and he can take Kashmir back to the top. But we need to give him time. All the changes that he has promised will not happen overnight.

@kashur1975 My dear bro. We Kashmiris have the tradition showing allegiance to leaders as individuals and we have never been followers of cause or ideology. Our fathers & grand fathers were die hard supporters of Skh Abdullah even if he tied their fate to an alien ideology of secularism. Without thinking ppl chose to relate to those with whom Kashmir & Kashmiris were distantly related in term of culture,social values,religion etc(Im talkin abt India)

I hope that you don;t think that Secularism is a BAD thing! We have to remember that in kasheer we have Pandits (or atleast we USED to ) who are just as much Kashur as you and I (my last name being "Dar" is testimony of most of our Pandit past)!!

Also, we ourselves are NOT all Sunni. There are Shia Muslims as well. While you and I may NOT care too much about the Sunni/Shia issue, there are people who are STUPID enough to cause problems on that front as well, I assure you!

Kashmiris r stil being managed by bureaucrats imported from N delhi, stil we run aftr class 4th jobs n hindus from Jammu take away majority in top jobs in gvt. Stil our homes r power hungry n major projects r exploited by Delhi. Its his party tht sold our resources to outsides jst to please them n hve pol power in return. Why didnt he do anything abt it. @kashur1975 Its sad that we still have those characteristics. He is better but how? Bcos he has gud English language skills, is handsome, gives gud speeches & face interviews well. This shud nt be the criteria mature nations judge their leaders.BUT what is his thinking abt the aspirations of his ppl. @00abcd1231- Omar Abdullah is an imporovement...but that does NOT mean that he is great! We Kashmiris need to come up with more dedicated leaders who will represent the needs of Kashmiris in New Delhi. I cut Mr. Abdullah some slack because he has not been in office for that long and I feel that what he has promised might take some time. But if in another year, things continue to be the way they are, then he too will be no different that all of our previous so called "leaders."
