he lacks some of the basic principles of musical interpretation and technique in his voice, his interpretation is bland and boring , where is the passion and energy at 2:25 thats one of the greatest Puccini moments ever and hes hardly hitting a forte let alone the rest of the piece where he stays at a static Mezzo Piano, he's a joke and an embarrassment to opera

Bocelli is a remarkable talent. No, he's not Caruso, or Pavarotti, and certainly not Placido. But his sweetness and reverence for the material is breath taking, he sings pianissimo sublimely, and when he hits and holds those high 'C's', his contribution to the greatness of operatic music is undeniable. He brought more people to opera than anyone, and for that, we owe him much, including respect. Bravo, Andrea...I love your Puccini...

Bocelli is a light lyric tenor! i prefer a Lyric Spinto or a Dramatic Tenor singing this!

His voice is abit on the thin side. But still 5/5 stars for effort and good rendition.

Yes, it is sweet, but common... the middle of this aria is not good. He got great help from mics in that part. That part of the aria needs a more open, free and strong voice. And to jagcf: This is a studio recording. They do polish and mix!

lol u should have seen the live version, he hit the high C even better then in here and the role of Rudolfo if perfect for him and i dont know wats up with the critics i mean always making comments as if anyone cares about their opinions; opera is ment to be for the people not for the elite who think they know it all!

this is such an unbelievably sweet, dolcissima interpretazione. Bocelli is not a person I consider to be an opera singer by trait, but those who denigrate his Bohème are simply haters. And I can't hate a man who tries like Andrea.

sure, his technique is not flawless. his voice is small in operatic terms. but he has the heart of a lion and one of the most naturally pleasant voices in history. he has a will to perform like no one else before him. it is for THIS that I adore Andrea Bocelli.

i like when he sings this area more that all who have sang it before him

he has in my opinion the most amazing voice of all time maybe not opera materiel but his notes are just unhuman, and much more plesant to lison to than all the very powerful voices like Pav (who i love too) and domingo, etc

I think Carreras performance untill the high C is better than Pavarotti's. His interpretation of the role is better. Bocelli is a great singer, and he did a nice work here.....
