They had a few paintings as backup and I believe David Chase has one of them. I would have to rewatch the bonus disc that came with my boxset to tell you who all got the other ones.
"you know what it does to me? to remind me of that horse?" lmao you gotta love T's melodramatic empathy for animals. And lol at "lawn jockey" remark too.
Holy shit i remember seeing that painting for the first time and almost dying. Tony looks so hilarious in it. This and 'the Kramer' best paintings around.
Spaceorbison you are talking rubbish. Tony's ok really. he only messes with the people in that world.Nobody working/living in the straight world has anything to worry about. grow some balls
I remember this scene. God, i hated Tony here. He can be such a whiney asshole sometimes. I know i know. They're all gangsters but Paulie seemed to me the most loyal and especially to Tony 'cause he had no one else (and the guys offcourse). Poor Paulie :( He's my favorite character next the Uncle Jun i think.
@StuUngar you're right. I totally forgot. Also how he fucked up with the Russian and that Jinny Sack joke. I started to watch the sorpanos backwards maybe thats why i thought he was loyal. Last 2 weeks i started to watch from Season 1 so now it's pretty clear :) Sopranos is so awesome
Since i seen a few opinions on it, i think its so funny that he just happens to step back into some eggs. Ralph happened to be making those before Tony decided he stepped out of line and strangled/beat him to death for the horse.
@MrIITONYSOPRANOII Totally agree, this was some of Tony Sirico's best acting. I actually had sympathy for Paulie in this scene, and Paulie was one of the least sympathetic characters in the whole series. Damn I fucking miss this show!
I love how this show maintains the continuity of each character. Tony, as evil and selfish as he is, never disappoints in showing his true self. Instead of being flattered and show some fatherly appreciation to Paulie, he indulges in his own feeling because no one else matters. Finally, his ego is stroked in those last shots: the hand, the hilt, the contentment that he IS a general. Love it. LOL. Indecently, these are all Tony's weaknesses as a leader. Great show.
@dander337 lol ur right. great scene but tony was outta line with paulie. Anyone could see he had the painting up there for Respect not to laugh with his whores lol. & man does paulie back down to tony or what ? miss the best show pound 4 pound ever created. rb1031
yeah it was kind of a poignant moment for Tony because he realizes his men see him as a general of sorts and that he was letting them down by putting his own feelings for his cousin above the safety of his men. The very next scene he kills Tony B.
tony acts like such a sensitive pussy sometimes...he's like a retarded kid at times...getting all excited about the ducks in his swimming pool in season 1...and being a dick to people just bc he has some unresolved issues in his own head...paulie should've had the painting remade and put it right up on the wall at the bing
tonys and paulies voices are the only ones who really sound different in the original than in german synchronisation. otherwise they did a good job in dubbing
Tony looks like ge was not mad anymore at the end of the scene because he realized that Paulie had respect for him as a leader like a general or warrior, i like the look he has when he sees the hat and sword and realizes that he has a resembulance to Napolean Bonparte.
Then he smiles for a second because he starts to realize that he was a great mafia boss for his crew and knows that he has Paulie's respect even if he hates the painting
whys he got to get so mad? he said it out loud..he lost a ton of money on dat horse..i got like that 1 time wen my friend said lets eat some lunch and he took me to the o.t.b to eat..i ate quesidllas and lost 90$ betting ponies...i flipped ..reminded me of the days that i lost thousands in there few years back..bad memory
there was a horse that him and ralph kinda shared and one day ralph said he can have it so the horse got injured and ralph burnt down the barn for insurance or some shit and tony ended up killing ralph. tony has always had a soft spot for animals
Yeah, me too. I mean, of course Paulie was being a dick often times, but he was by far my most favourite character in the show (then, obviously, Tony and Johnny Sack).
I can't figure out what Tony stepping in the eggs symbolizes. Is it a reminded of when he killed Ralphie when they fought with the pan? I'm stumped on this one....
Certain characters mention in non-chalantly before something bad happens. I don't want to get too specific because i'd rather not ruin anything but watch some earlier episodes again, and you might see what I mean,
but yes, you're right aout them being significant, I'm just saying it extends beyond ralphie
please explain further or message me....I really have no idea what your talking about and I'm a die hard sopranos fan....could repeat pretty much any scene and I don't know wtf you mean about these eggs
eggs, they usually symbolize death in the sopranos, like you said with ralphie.
There are a number of examples and I don't want to spoil the fun, but look at episodes like 'long term parking', 'Boca', and the ralphie one you just mentioned.
Perhaps I overlooked something huge; In the Godfather oranges usually symbolized death, and the eggs are the 'Sopranos' version of that.
Also, the quote 'Peppers and eggs' shows up a lot, referring to a sandwhich, but something bad usually happens after that, hell its even the name of the audio soundtrack to the TV show.
If I come across any more examples I'll let you know, they are scarce, and they went right over my head the first several times viewing
Much appreciated. I'm familiar with the oranges in the Godfather, when he gets shot and stumbles into the oranges and they go everywhere. Anyway, thanks, I'll check that out! I never knew there was a soundtrack!
You're right about the eggs - also there's another tribute to Godfather when the 2 black guys try to shoot Tony in series 1 - he's drinking Tropicana orange juice just like Don Vito was buying oranges when he gets shot in One.
@starchild123456 good observation...on one episode, vito's cousin was smashed in the head w/ a golf club by mustang sally just after vito's cousin had told a coworker to go pick him up a pepper and egg sandwich
LMAO haha you STUPID MORON!!! Obviously it's a horse in the picture you stupid shit. HE SAYS WHORES, NOT HORSE! So you are saying paulie and the horse in the picture laugh at the picture itself? Yeah, that makes sense you stupid asshole. A painted horse laughing at a picture of itself. hahahah what dumb shit you are!!! Oh and fake pics? LMAO that's me in the video from about 3 years ago. I'm way bigger and stronger and would love to slap your puny little ass for being such a stupid fuck.
This is a response to the stupid moron domdick9000.....Also shithead, notice how Tony pronounces HORSE at :56 and WHORES at 1:21. Totally different. I rest my case you little shit. It baffles me that someone as stupid as you can even function in day to day life. Jesus....
this is one of my favorite Sopranos scenes -- esp. Paulie's sad face @ 0:58 and @2:24 he looked like a little boy who got caught with his hand in the cookie jar. he was really heartbroken that Tony didn't approve of what he did to the painting of Pie-O-My and how he pictured Tony.
I don't under-stand this about Tony. One of his biggest problems is that he wants respect & friend-ship & a lot of this show is about how he struggles to find a balance, correct? In MY OPINION, "Yes.".
This scene's a perfect example...:
Here's a guy, Paulie, who obviously admires & loves this guy. What does Tony do? "He freaks out & ruins it.", that's what he does.
I don't think Tony deserves the screwed-up life he has, but, I guess "The money talks & the bull-shit walks.", right?
Your looking WAY to into it, Tony does not like paintings, pictures, anything that dosent have a straight forward meaning, he feels like hes not in on whats being portrayed, almost like hes being "tircked" or "fooled" and gets frustrated when he dosent see the sam thing people see in things, basicly becuse hes to afraid to confront how fucked up mentaly he is, he likes to fool him self into thinking hes just as normal as everybody else, see tony and panic attacks, pictures are the main cause
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
That seems like the kind of picture a guy would hang in his bathroom. I almost want recreate that with me in the picture and hang it right in front of my toilet. Mt girlfriend would throw it out in probably 3 seconds though.
I never saw the show. Does Paulie ever get his painting back?
I hope so.

Tony's face in this painting is just price-less!

Doesn't deserves the life he has? He's killed numerous people and cheated on his wife countless times.

That seems like the kind of picture a guy would hang in his bathroom. I almost want recreate that with me in the picture and hang it right in front of my toilet. Mt girlfriend would throw it out in probably 3 seconds though.
