@ Smackdaddyt yes, same with me, except I'm not 40. Sometimes my back doesn't agree, but I just do the basics then. I try to practise every day though.
How's the back now my old friend? FYI-The picking of the first three stars is in reference to the ladel or handle of the big dipper. The next four stars is representative the of the cup of the big dipper. The reason it is not in the actual shape of the dipper is that this was to test the lion dancer to think outside the box. BTW is you encounter one where they actually used 7 water bottles, you realize you have to dring the water before it is expelled don't you-haha
I think anyone who understand the art of lion dancing will look at this and know how tiring it is to do this 30-min routine. I'm more amazed by the stances because you can hardly see those traditional martial arts stances now a days. Also, this routine is known by a hand full of teams. Thank you for sharing.
Great job guys! I'm also a 43 year young lion dance performer! We just performed for over 5 hours in the Chinese New Year's celebrations in Seattle and it took me close to three days for my lower back, neck, and legs to feel normal again! Do you guys practice kung fu as well? Your stances look great and similar to Hung Gar that I practice. Keep up the great work and let's continue to show the "young ones" how it's done! :-)
