@majbritt1 if gracie is honorable why would he never release his locks after his opponents tapped out very often referees had to pull him off his opponents and you dont see any strikers just keep going after their opponent is out i mean 1 or 2 swings is understandable but no one needs a ref to try to really stop them except for royce if u ask me no pride in him never was and never will be a warrior even worse he used steroids and he went as far as to pull hair in a fight which only girls do

He has come to my academy once a year for the past 4 years and he has become a personal mentor for some of our blackbelts. He is very personable and makes an effort to get to know new practitioners of the art as well. I don't think that it is that unlikely majbritt1 knows him or has had in depth conversations with him.

Royce coached Crocop on some of his ground work, especially before his Sakuraba fight. He is friends with Crocop. Royce is a legend and never scared of anyone. For those who say Crocop would kill him, Crocop is anywhere from 230-240 lbs, Royce is 170-180 lbs. It is not a fight that would ever need to happen.
@ZataboKing This is Mirko in his prime, a heavyweight with some of the best takedown defence and striking in the sport. An evolved fighter far different from the standard that Royce competed with. The big differences in weight were compensatable by using leverage against guys who didn't understand jiu jitsu. Two different fighters from two different weight classes and two different eras of the sport. Which again brings me back to my original point, a fight that does not need to ever happen.

That definitely played a role too, but Royce never got too far outside of being a straight BJJ guy. He developed a few kicks and all, but that's about it. nothing enough to survive in this day and age, just like how Coleman and Randleman were unable to get past being that big wrestler.
