While i was traveling peru i noticed that you would find this sold in leaf "form" more in the higher altitudes(Cuzco, Puno, Trujillo, etc). other places really dont sell the leaf that much even though the Mate de coca is popular everywhere.(tea bags)

this was filmed in peru. it is legal here. (the leaves) are chewed to help with altitude sickness, hunger, and thirst. i am chewing some right now. a pound of raw leaves costs about 1 us dollar. it is a cultural and historical thing, not a drug. in cusco, it is very hard to breathe when you are not used to it, and coca leaves have helped peruvians acclimate (spl?) for thousands of years
