I'm wondering if some ancient aliens got stranded on earth. And therefore they then needed to find where in space they were, this would correlate to most megalithic structures being placed near the equator, best view. It would also explain the ancient obsession with astronomy and star placement. I guess when they found out where they were and had the fuel to get home they just left.

Why couldn't hypothetical aliens--who could travel the distances between stars--create gold? The processes which create elements are understood by people on earth today. Some of our known elements don't occur naturally, and must be created by scientists in a lab. With this in mind, it is ridiculous to think that a hypothetical, space-faring civilization could only find gold on earth! There is a lot of crap in these docs, but the gold issue was singled out here because its the focus of this one.
@s3tione We can only create incredibly small amounts of elements and it is very energy expensive, starting a petri dish of monkeys somewhere and letting them mine them for you is comparatively cost effective. I do agree that gold would not likely be a huge attraction for a hypothetical alien race. @s3tione I was also really into thinking why we (or whoever else) can't just create all the different elements by just combining the required number of protons, neutrons and electrons. Apparently things start to get significantly hard cause of the conditions required in order to glue those together and make an element - Gold is quite up the chain. Check BBC's "Wonders of the Universe Stardust" for the greatest explanation ever of how this process is performed in nature.

They have some interesting ideas that would make great science fiction novels, but all their "proof" is just looking at something differently than it has been for the past hundreds of years. Until I see an actual alien all this will just be a funny idea to me. Something important to consider is that it's rumored that there's 40 different species of aliens that we know of. Some of them are good, some of them are jerks. The good ones want to help us simply because they are benevolent and want to see us succeed, the malevolent ones feed off our energy and have been known to manipulate our very existence. This series keeps saying that the oldest known civilization of mankind was in sumer and the cradle of life but in 1994, we uncovered Gobekli Tepe in the hills of Turkey and it is thousands of years older than any other previosly uncovered civilization. The stones there are massive and it is thought to be the precursor to stone henge. Even more interesting, the structures seem to appear to be an ark. Look it up, it's on youtube!
Weather or not it was meant as an ark is a (sort of) far out theory put forward by ancient alien sorts but Gobekli Tepe is really there, well documented and carbon dates back thousands of years farther than the cradle of life.
In episodes of this show they describe the aliens as having a hierarchy similar to ours. leading to the assumption that they would have similar mindsets to our own. if that is true than who is to say their entrepreneurial drive is not just as powerful as our own. Maybe these aliens simply wanted to play god because it would be a scientific breakthrough for them, disregarding morality the same way our scientists want to do with the cloning debate.

I like the comment humans went to the moon to put a flag on it. Why? Why would aliens, who could master interstellar travel, need to travel to earth for gold of all things? @SleeCee The elements found on earth are not only found on earth. It's likely that gold is abundant in the galaxy. Of course mining is dangerous for us, not for advanced robots. If a species could master interstellar travel, why not other technologies as well, one of them being advanced resource extraction (as in things like mining)? But they had horses and other animals to help as well. One horse can pull a lot. How they cut granite blocks I don't know, never tried it myself... This series keeps saying that the oldest known civilization of mankind was in sumer and the cradle of life but in 1994, we uncovered Gobekli Tepe in the hills of Turkey and it is thousands of years older than any other previosly uncovered civilization. The stones there are massive and it is thought to be the precursor to stone henge. Even more interesting, the structures seem to appear to be an ark. Look it up, it's on youtube!

In episodes of this show they describe the aliens as having a hierarchy similar to ours. leading to the assumption that they would have similar mindsets to our own. if that is true than who is to say their entrepreneurial drive is not just as powerful as our own. Maybe these aliens simply wanted to play god because it would be a scientific breakthrough for them, disregarding morality the same way our scientists want to do with the cloning debate.

If a species could master interstellar travel, why not other technologies as well, one of them being advanced resource extraction (as in things like mining)? Im not sure if it is all that dumb, really. How were ancient egyptians supposed to move 100 ton blocks? Or lift them? Humans alone cant do that. And they certainly cant cut granite blocks that big with their bare hands or even an axe or whatever simple tools we were told they had. I dont think they had the modern macinery we have today, but I think they definitley had something similar.

@TheDrWooty No, humans alone can't move 100ton blocks if they're not 5.000men pulling at the same time, which would mean 20kg or 45lbs per person. But they had horses and other animals to help as well. One horse can pull a lot. How they cut granite blocks I don't know, never tried it myself... But to conclude that ALIENS must've done it is absurd. With enough people helping it's not impossible.
