Actually it boot from the SD card, while it will boot from Nand so it will be faster. Also the current OS image isnt optimised at all.

36 seconds to boot, well its not that bad (shut be possible to get 20 with a Class6 Card i think). Did u use the Nand oder a SD Card?

You don´t have to turn it off completly every time!! You also can set it in some kind of
standby (like the PSP?), which only takes a tiny bit of energy.
