  • when I get a forehand appraoch shot where the ball is near the service line, I keep hitting it long. I know I am suppose to bend my knees and take a shorter back swing. But do i get under the ball like I would when I hit a forehand from the baseline? Or do I hit through it with top spin without getting under.

  • Hi Brent,

Really great tutorial, thanks very much.

Question,... is the backhand sliced approach hit in a manner where you add MORE slice than the usual backhand sliced cross court shot for example ?

Should we be exaggerating the slice on the sliced approach ?

thanks Brent ! and thanks for all the great tennis tips !

  • @FrostyTheBeerMan - Good to hear from you FTBM. More slice? Not really, it's much more of an effort of a specific footwork pattern that carries you through the shot as you impart underspin with an open faced racket (continental grip).

If you time the movement through contact just right, you naturally impart plenty of underspin that helps keep the ball low as your opponent tries to pas you. - Brent

  • @webtennis Hi Brent, thanks for information, it's much appreciated. One day I'd love to hit some balls with you, that would be an exciting time !

  • @FrostyTheBeerMan We'll find a way to make it happen... Brent
