In this film are the characters we know and love, they always do a great job so this is the first thing why this film did work out. The Film was a very good portrayal of Child Soldiers. Very educating. Having meet quite a few Liberians in refugee camps. I was very touched and impressed by what the Director had achieved. On the DVD though the Bonus part - Documentary about the making of the Film was just as interesting. Buy it

The reality is, it's a hell of a lot more complicated than that, and one single action, donation, relief effort, however large or effective it may be will not solve it's problems. Just as an example, the way Africa was divided up in the first place is a HUGE problem, because it failed to take into account the various ethnicities and tribes that already existed before it was divided.

However large the bombs may have been, they only affected a tiny portion of the country itself, and it had the necessary components such as a functioning government, legal system, etc. to support itself prior to the war.

Add to that things like extreme poverty, large corporations taking over traditional resource based industries and exploiting them past the limit, etc. and you have one big mess that is infinitely complicated to find a solution for.

In this film are the characters we know and love, they always do a great job so this is the first thing why this film did work out. The Film was a very good portrayal of Child Soldiers. Very educating. Having meet quite a few Liberians in refugee camps. I was very touched and impressed by what the Director had achieved. On the DVD though the Bonus part - Documentary about the making of the Film was just as interesting. Buy it

Merely demonstrates the limits of such an education, or worthlessness. Africa is a Continent not some sort of United States of Africa. The Berlin Conference of 1885 put paid to that. The reality is, it's a hell of a lot more complicated than that, and one single action, donation, relief effort, however large or effective it may be will not solve it's problems. Just as an example, the way Africa was divided up in the first place is a HUGE problem, because it failed to take into account the various ethnicities and tribes that already existed before it was divided.

Add to that things like extreme poverty, large corporations taking over traditional resource based industries and exploiting them past the limit, etc. and you have one big mess that is infinitely complicated to find a solution for.

I meant that those killings had a purpose that were closer to the reality, nor were they as brutal as many wars in Africa were they gangrape infants, practicing cannibalism and cutting up women. I saw this at the Dublin Film Festival.
This is easily one of the Top 10 Best Films made so far this century. It's certainly in my Top 10.
It just doesn't let up. It grabs you by the balls and doesn't let go. It'll let you laugh at a Chuck Norris joke, but other than that this is commanding filmmaking.
