good video and well done.there is another way, but its abit more complicated, but will work. Just the gov'ts would be abit upset if IF it went wrong big time. But I know it would work because they have used it but wont tell the public they went that way and i can't type it in here. for those reasons. but nice view night shots. :)
As much as i love these videos, i can't help thinking that these kinds of means of getting of the ground are helplessly antiquated, like combustion engine. At the moment most of the funding is going into tinkering with existing methods, alas i think we should really come up with something truly different. And i'm first to admit: i have no clue what it is, perhaps we should really start making those space elevators...
as soon as we can get carbon nanotubes formed into a ribbon a hundred thousand kilometers long, space elevators are in business... until then, we're burning stuff and blowing stuff up.
@robotguy this can be a great help toward helping lift the elevator car as far as the lower levels untill gravity eases the load . something small with large lift.
I concur with andplasma.I want to be a rocket scientist and have teamed up with some classmates. The only thing we lack is money. Despite our age, we have the intelligence. Do u know where i could get some funding? I don't think anyone will take us seriously...
Most of these new space companies are on very low budgets. Put your own money into it, and start small. Check out PaulBreed's channel - Unreasonable Rocket is basically him and his son operating out of his garage, and he is probably now a little further ahead compared to where Armadillo was two years ago. Watch the movie October Sky and try to learn some lessons from what Homer Hickam did right, and what he did wrong. You can do it on a shoestring. It's only rocket science, after all. :D
What's stopping you? Armadillo is only one out of dozens of established space companies, and new ones are starting up all the time. I know for sure that SpaceX is hiring right now - send them your CV.
Well I took 2 years of CompE but then switched to Math/Econ. I don't really hold a degree in Aero..I'm working in an office right now but I am looking into going back to school for a bach in a related field. =/
Apply at some of the new space companies anyway. If they say no, then you've lost nothing, right? In many of these companies, a passion for rockets is the main qualification. Besides, they need more than just aero guys, they also need accountants and computer guys and all sorts of people. Give it a shot, make your wish come true.
What would happen if the cables break?? Hahahaha.

why don't you let it go?
sensiseed84 5 years ago
Armadillo didn't let it go because FAA rules didn't let them.

lol is this what they called afterburner?
CrimsonTides 5 years ago
no..an after burner is on a fighter jet or sometype of fast jet, they spray kerosyne or some flamable material to give it extra boost.
