That will make people think about getting a job BEFORE they decide to have kids. We have a situation here in the UK where young girls have kids so they can live off the benefits they will get, and no-one can say that is ok. This will reduce the population over time.

Yeah, I was on board at first and it sounded great, but I went to the website & found that the idea is that there will be no military because there will be no need for one... conflicts will be reduced, etc. But the fact of nature remains, anomalies in masses exist, and there are the violent few. When the violent few get to be really insidious, they play the game and gather support, and with no military, there's no protection. I'm opposed to wars, myself, but I want at least my self-defense!

My point is, even if we get down to the physical nature of ourselves and re-engineer our species for non-violence, the possibility of physical failure in duress is increased, creating, lo and behold, a scarcity.

Probably not. Good point. A president makes choices based on information in front of them. as i see it it all crystalizes into
authoritarian or collectivism = economies of scale at expense of individuality/freedom.
individuality/freedom earned through more individual effort, & lower population.
IMO we'll never see a practical "one size fits all".
So we can say "let families decide".
More babies->more dependance on state.

The solution is actually quite simple.
Don't stop people from having babies, but ensure that those children are smarter, and more knowledgeable. Why you might ask, well a correlation has been found between the number of kids you have, and your intelligence. The smarter you are, the fewer kids you have.

One of the points of this guy is that most crime is generated by pressures of your environment and will naturally disappear if you alleviate those pressures; the crime that is left, crimes of passion, crimes of insanity and such would be sent to hospitals instead of jails, to be studied and truly rehabilitated, being released when deemed healthy enough to live in society.

Yeah, I was on board at first and it sounded great, but I went to the website & found that the idea is that there will be no military because there will be no need for one... conflicts will be reduced, etc. But the fact of nature remains, anomalies in masses exist, and there are the violent few. When the violent few get to be really insidious, they play the game and gather support, and with no military, there's no protection. I'm opposed to wars, myself, but I want at least my self-defense!

The nature of humanity, I should have put it, is the same as any aggregate set of data regarding a complex interactive environment, in that there are times where the unexpected happens. Bipolar disorder, manic depression, schizophrenia, and other mental disorders can lead to violent outbursts. These are the anomalies in the control that the Venus project doesn't account for.
Also, I'm not afraid of the Venus project; please don't assume that I am. I just feel that it needs a bit of work.

It is our capitalistic environment that doesn't address these "non average" behaviors. We simply apply labels and laws the behaviors while pharmeceuticals profit tremendously. Thus there's no incentive for erradication of the b/h or addressing the root causes.

I'm well aware of the problems existent in our society placing profit over health. I went to the site and read what was said about dealing with "aberrant behavior" when implementing the new social system. It is insightful enough to recognize the potential of genetic characteristics, but the anomalous spikes of social disruption are not addressed.
So if we remove or suppress our adrenal glands, that's a good step, until some danger hits and we're all too pussy to fight back.

My point is, even if we get down to the physical nature of ourselves and re-engineer our species for non-violence, the possibility of physical failure in duress is increased, creating, lo and behold, a scarcity.
This scarcity is of human life and fear exists for the self. If we value our human lives, we need to understand violence and anger, not try to physically suppress them. Even if we educate our heads off, there still will exist anomalies in the relative knowledge, and thus, actions.

Scarcity is not the only cause of war & violence in the world. But let's say we get rid of it. Awesome, free food, shelter, warmth, clothing, etc. But then I ask the question:
What begs the imposition today that there is an urge to rule others? Where did it come from? Simply speaking, it came from the environment they knew.
If scarcity was this environment and it's removed, then suddenly, scarcity is scarce. The human race, upon realization of weakening, may attempt counteraction.

Probably not. Good point. A president makes choices based on information in front of them. For instance, Bush was presented with information in August on Osama Bin Laden and he then authorized first strike, but sadly the signing of such behavior does not mean they do it the very next day. Osama Bin Laden knew what was coming and hid priro to 9/11 and the signing of that document was meaningless as it came to late.

It will happen, no matter what. As time progresses, technology will slowly replace the need to do.. everything really, every job will slowly be replaced over time as technology advances - change WILL come eventually.

i dont think it will. i wish it would, but how high will the unemplyment level get, how bad do things have to get, how many times do we have to go around the same circle before those being forced to feed from the bottom feel forced to push up? we are much more evolved then that. lets not wait til false economies collapse, leaving people scared and fighting for survival, look at how people panic when you merelt mention a shortage of something...

Although the institutions and ideologies that are currently being maintained are causing far too much waste, human suffering and environmental destruction, it is important to recognize that they are not necessarily bad but rather outdated. The ideas behind this social alternative appear to contain more truth than the ideas of any other known institution and the opportunity to grasp and implement those ideas has never been more apparent. I fully support the Venus Project. I have been watching videos on youtube about the inevitable depression that will occur in a year or two and the New World Order taking over the world. In Zeitgeist Addendum, Mr. Fresco, you mentioned that a Depression should occur in order for the Venus Project to be the true alternative. My only concern is if the government will threaten the public with violence if the people refuse to support the establishment. Please respond.
