The original RKO movie on 35mm was in black and white.

Was much of the original shot in color? (as per this clip).

I saw the original film when I was a small boy, probably about 1948

yes it was( destroyed and rebuilt), you can see it in the Kon-Tiki museum in Oslo.

i read that the origonal raft was destroyed crossing the reefs at the islands where they landed. did they rebuild it?
