I liked Bill Hicks, even though I didn't really think of him as a comedian. I wasn't all that fond of George, but he did occasionally have some pretty penetrating insights (occasionally he was also borderline insane on some things). I am glad Bill Burr is not either of those guys. He just comes off as a regular guy who isn't afraid to say whatever he wants, and that makes it easier to like him and relate to the things he says.

He does have a point regarding the NOW organization. Now that George Carlin passed away, Bill Burr moved a-top the comedian world. He's a genius, and his humor and dialogue comes off to me as perfect. +1. Bill Burr's the man.
He's funny, but not in Carlin's class (for one thing, there's a little bit of apologies that Burr will put into his bits to not offend. Carlin addressed the idea offending instead of smoothing ruffled feathers). My vote would go to Louis CK. No one vocalizes that unexpressed disgust with children and even themselves like he does and he puts into practice what Carlin talked about in terms of language.
But, I fuckin love him. His perspective is unique and I relate to it even more than I do with Carlin and CK.
But, the the about his apologetic tone sometimes... I think he tries to portray everything as not a big deal.... as to where Carlin and Hicks used to show huge disgust. (Carlin still appreciated disaster though. Which is a great mind set to not giving a fuck.)
The top skilled funny wise is Louis and the best all around is Louis though.
I grew up hearing Carlin so he has great meaning for me. And he really addressed the BS of America and of just interacting with the world. I've seen in interviews that he understands why people thought he was angry because he was working as a performer and heightening for dramatic effect (interesting to hear a comic talk in those terms) but it came from disappointment instead of anger. And offstage he was reported to be a very nice guy.
Yea... it's easy to call someone a cynic when they're really an idealist.
I think Carlin had the best perspective. He honestly enjoyed humanity's disasters.. and I think that's the key to not giving a shit about what's going on.
I think Hicks showed more disgust cause he also saw where we were going in the next decades. Which is understandable really. For all he knew he was gonna live out these decades.

Regardless of his insights, George Carlin always came off as a huge douchebag to me, and that made me care less, because he hated everything. Bill Hicks seemed like more of a politician that had missed his calling and went into comedy to work on his public speaking and improv skills.

I liked Bill Hicks, even though I didn't really think of him as a comedian. I wasn't all that fond of George, but he did occasionally have some pretty penetrating insights (occasionally he was also borderline insane on some things). I am glad Bill Burr is not either of those guys. He just comes off as a regular guy who isn't afraid to say whatever he wants, and that makes it easier to like him and relate to the things he says.

Now that George Carlin passed away, Bill Burr moved a-top the comedian world. He's a genius, and his humor and dialogue comes off to me as perfect. +1. Bill Burr's the man.

He's funny, but not in Carlin's class (for one thing, there's a little bit of apologies that Burr will put into his bits to not offend. Carlin addressed the idea offending instead of smoothing ruffled feathers). My vote would go to Louis CK. No one vocalizes that unexpressed disgust with children and even themselves like he does and he puts into practice what Carlin talked about in terms of language.

Yea I don't like that apologetic tone Burr has.
But, I fuckin love him. His perspective is unique and I relate to it even more than I do with Carlin and CK.
But, the the about his apologetic tone sometimes... I think he tries to portray everything as not a big deal.... as to where Carlin and Hicks used to show huge disgust. (Carlin still appreciated disaster though. Which is a great mind set to not giving a fuck.)
The top skilled funny wise is Louis and the best all around is Louis though.

I grew up hearing Carlin so he has great meaning for me. And he really addressed the BS of America and of just interacting with the world. I've seen in interviews that he understands why people thought he was angry because he was working as a performer and heightening for dramatic effect (interesting to hear a comic talk in those terms) but it came from disappointment instead of anger. And offstage he was reported to be a very nice guy.

Yea... it's easy to call someone a cynic when they're really an idealist.
I think Carlin had the best perspective. He honestly enjoyed humanity's disasters.. and I think that's the key to not giving a shit about what's going on.
I think Hicks showed more disgust cause he also saw where we were going in the next decades. Which is understandable really. For all he knew he was gonna live out these decades.
It's really good to hear someone else support CK in this light btw. Best alive for sure

It's flabbergasting to me how people will judge stuff like that. Even though he says all these things everyone thinks but doesn't say, and does it with humor, it's not enough because his tone isn't asshole enough.
Regardless of his insights, George Carlin always came off as a huge douchebag to me, and that made me care less, because he hated everything. Bill Hicks seemed like more of a politician that had missed his calling and went into comedy to work on his public speaking and improv skills.

Louis though has accomplished what no other comedian has ever accomplished. He comes out with an hour every year that ends up being arguably the best comedy set each time. He exposes the darkest truths and makes it funny and relatable in a whole new way.
