It was my experience (being raised Protestant and now being Orthodox) that refusing to honor the Lord' Mother essentially stems from an incomplete understanding of the word "Lord."
sigh...i am tired of these arguements....I am a 19 year old Catholic..i came to know Jesus wen I was 15 and I did not have the support of my family. I loved my family and wanted them to come to Mass with me instead of going alone. I prayed the Rosary earnerstly for them asking Mary to pray for them so that Christ will be born in their hearts. Now my entire family loves and serves Jesus and my partents are more zealous about it than I am! Mary is my Mother and I love her....please dn't disrespect
And you PROds better get in the Catholic Church and get that Eucharist! The most important thing CHRIST talked about in John 6 , and you PRODS can't see it? How blinded you are from SATAN and your foolish preachers. You would rather sing songs and foolishness instead of the Eucharist. HOW EVIL
Of course Virgin Mary is not God, but she is the Mother of God. And it was God ´s will that all graces that comes to us comes through the hands of Mary, and all prayers He receive He receive through Our Lady. All this is wonderful explain in the books of St Louis Maria Grignion de Montfort, and it is explained by the theologians of the Church. This is the common and universal teaching of the Church. Very nicely exposed in this superbous Mgr. Fulton Sheen video!!! Thanks for posting!!!
God's will that all graces come through her? Funny how no one in the Bible mentioned that. The Nt authors must really be clowns to fail to mention that one.
While attending mass one day, I asked the Blessed Lord to give me a good laugh. I know its a very simple childlike prayer. With laughter and with tears rolling down my cheeks, this video is His answered prayer. I should share this to everyone. Thanks for posting!
of course we pray to Mary, what do you think the Hail Mary is? We pray to the Saints, we above all; pray WITH Mary, we pray WITH the Saints in that most sublime form of prayer reserved only for God: Worship.
I understand you, but there are certain members of the other churches who would twist that sentence around to say that we're placing Mary above God, in saying that we PRAY TO Mary, rather than God, who alone reserves the right to Latria. Mary is given Hyperdulia, a term in Theology that refers to a form of reverence above Dulia (which we give Saints) and which comes below Latria, which should be given God alone.
Amen flannerywannabe! Very good answer and very true. Our Mother is not God, but is given "graces" from God. It is amazing that people take without question that protestant preachers can heal people of all kinds of maladies at alter calls, but they cannot fathom that the Mother of God could never help us with her prayers.
@ pennylane: praying "to" Mary is no more nor less than asking her to pray for you, just as you'd ask a good, holy friend. The idea is that she, being holy and in heaven, can help you to present your request to God better than you could on your own. No one ever, *ever* suggested Mary is on a level with God, which is what the word "Mariolatry" implies. Please, learn with respect about other people's beliefs before you make such wild assertions.

Mary is my sister only and there is no reason to put her above anyone else. Did Jesus say honor her? NO. Does any holy person ask the no-longer-living for intercession? No. Have you ever read the Bible? Obviously not!
Also, what's the 4th commandment? You should practice it! Jesus did, and commanded us to when he gave us his Mother via Bishop John the Evangelist at the foot of the cross.
pennylane: you are NOT her sister unless you follow and obey the commandments of Jesus.
Hey stupid he gave her the Church. How do you treat your mother? use your head we are talking about his mother not some prostitute. you should be ashamed of yourself.
He 'gave her the Church'? Sorry, the Bible doesn't say that (not to mention that everyone fails to mention this in the epistles). The 4th commandment? Says to honor Jesus mother? Not hardly.
I remember God telling us, "Honor your Father and your Mother."
And I remember Our Lord, crucified, say to John, "Behold they Mother!"
It is such that when we look to Mary as our Mother, we represent John- whom Jesus loved so much. Ah! Then from this the Church draws her joy and strength- that when we stray and lose our way, our Mother, Lovely as she is, leads us back to Her Son.
It matters because the word of God IS truth, according to Jesus (y'know, Mary's kid). Likewise, concepts and catchphrases like 'Sacred Heart' are unscriptural.

As a matter of fact, we do not 'pray' to Mary, not as an act of worship, but we ask her to intercede to God on our behalf.
It's like asking a good friend to pray for you about something.

And this alleged 'mother' of the Church gets how many mentions in the NT? Read the Bible and wake up to the truth, you poor idolatrous creature.
pennylaneproductions 1 year ago
Does it really matter how many times Our Blessed Mother is mentioned in Scripture?
How is the number of times she is mentioned in the Scripture connected with the Truth?
But you know what, the Word of God is not given to us to be argued or debated upon, but to be lived.
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us!

@pennylaneproductions
Well did He say you count how many times a person appears
in the Bible because that is basis on how
important they are?
I guess, for your own interpretation, they are
unscriptural.
But, if you are on your quest on finding the Truth
then you will find out later on.
God loves you!
