is the guy with the sheild and sword usable in games? im thinking of starting a space marine army but i want to know a little bit more about their gameplay before i buy the codex"
@DangerousGazes I built that character to use in a different codex but it can be used. It is either a combat shield with close combat weapon or a power weapon and a Storm Shield... or some combination of those four things. in short, yes it can be used. If you are interested in learning before you buy. There are a lot of videos on youtube that can teach you the basics. You can always go to your local game shop and ask for a "demo game" most respectable game shops will show you how it is done.
again, NICE WORK, I hope to soon be making some sternguard vets, and this is great inspiration...
I came up with a bolt pistol hand to replace the pointing finger, and a Power Sword arm that I magnetized to change out with the chainsword... on AOBR Sgt. fixed up... I might just replace the other with another model entirely... Nice job... I may have to just buy one extra tactical squad box for bits and extra dudes... thanks again for the vid...
I need a tactical Sgt.... or bits to convert mine, any interest in selling some SM bits... I need a Storm Bolter and Powerfist Sgt... or Sgt. arms other than just AOBR style pointing finger and chainsword... I'm also looking for a Meltagun marine and a Multimelta Marine.... AWESOME JOB!!!!!
nice conversions, but if it were me, i would have put them with running legs from the assault squad sprue and dont more dynamic poses, like marines looking down the sight of their gun
@thisguybrybry Thanks for the comments. I had considered the running legs, but the Sternguard, to me at least seem more like the calm and confident soldier of a 1000 campaigns. Taking his time and planting each round where it will serve the best.
I see the Vangaurd veterans as more of the "race in and tear em' up" sort.
i am in the prosess of building a dark angels army, which i managed to paint tnx to ur videos,(tnx man). i have searched all throughout the net but cant get a straight answer, can the dark angels have sternguard vets.?really help me out if u know man tnx
@LosArxidos Sorry that I did not see this earlier. According to GW you can use them only if your opponent agrees to it. Then again you can do anything if your opponent agrees to it. GW put out a statement that made no hard fast ruling, it simply directed people back the rule book which states (paraphrase) 'The most important rule it to have fun'. This doesn't really help the rules nazi's but it makes sense. Don't expect to use them in a tournament but a friendly game shouldn't an issue.
@Shiznaft1 There are no restrictions in using them. They're in the codex and you don't have to ask your opponent to use them. The dark angels codex does not include sterngaurd, but they do have veterans. Which are similar except they don't have special ammunition.
@ahultahuaskar I was responding to LosArxidos question. He asked if Dark Angels can use Sternguard. The old GW FAQ failed to give a definitive yes/no on Dark Angels using units from the Marine Codex. Yes, If you are playing codex Marines you can use anything in the codex. His question was not about codex marines but Dark Angels, and GW still says "You can ask your opponent" if you can use units from the Space Marine Codex in your Dark Angels army. Thanks for the post.
Yeah I'm not a big fan of Metal models. I am currently making some Sternguard for my blood angels army using the grenade drum magazines from Imperial guard cadian grenade launchers (I have sooo many spare grenade lanchers from my IG army) and attaching them to standard SM bolt guns. To make them all look all "veterany" used a lot of the spare bits from the Sanguinary guard and Death Company kits.
wow how do you covert and and make them look so good. i suck at conversions. i usally just keep them as they are. by the way how in heck did u make that marine that was neiling.
You should make some Space Wolf stuff when the new release comes out in October!. I'm a big fan of you and your videos. They encourage me to build like you ( I mean try) lol. Theanks!
this is just me but i paint my miniatures before i assemble them so its easier to do the details. dont get me wrong your models look great but that was just a tip
No more like a super sneaky ninja assassin Ghost......LOL..... No really, I am just camera shy I guess. There is a certain degree of freedom that comes from anonymity.
Nice Sternguard, I really like the Sergeant. I also like the marine with auspex, great pose as if just coming out of Drop pod and surveying area. Oh and hows that master of the forge coming along?
to be honest mate i dont see the point in paying for gw stuff when making things out of your own bit to make stuff much cooler like you have dont awsome man
Yeah, they can be a pain. I usually pin them and that gives them more stability. Then again, there is the issue with paint rubbing off and breakage.... I like the detail though.
Thanks for the critique. I am not 100% satisfied either. I might redo some of them. I just wanted to do something different with the sgt cause I have three of those models. How do you mean 'overview'? I talk throughout the whole vid.
Yeah you are right, that magazine is higher up on the metal figs. I was wondering about that. I kinda like the longer magazine, but then again the shorter one looks more compact. I think I will leave them as they are and do the next group with smaller magazines.
I did mine with the crux shoulders, but for the mag I used rhino storm bolters and drop pod storm bolters. Drop pod ones are a little bigger. The other two mags I used where the like ammo boxs from the dev box. It has a handle but if you cut it off its turns out to be an over kill, which is what I think stern guard are.
I guess since it is 38,000 years in the future, they probably don't even know that the U.S. or Canada ever existed LOL. I think Master Corporal sounds cool though. So, Master Corporal it is.

The space marine Scout biker frame has a sweet scoped Bolter with A drum mag on it if you need a little extra inspiration.

Ahah, been a long time since I've watched this video. But, as a CF player, I've been spurred on to finally convert my own Sternguard.
3 of each combi weapon, a power fist and a heavy flamer in a pod + Pedro = nasty :)
Just watching this vid again, see what you did back then for some more inspiration.
