  • i have that same glove and love it.

  • Nice to know this stuff sticks in your head. Use to do competitive archery in school and 3 years later I still remember all this.

  • what bow is that?

  • @bzarembareal looks like a hoyt gamemaster

  • god theres more to it than i thought i thought you put a arrow on puul back the string and let go

  • Pretty awesome quality for such an old video XD

  • Can someone tell me what kind of bow that is?

  • @CrumblesDA ....Recurve.... -.-

  • @DeathCabDriverx

haha, that's a good one, douche. What brand of bow is it?

  • @CrumblesDA Why would I tell you after you called me something like that?? Think young one, THINK!

  • I'm 95% Accurate with Longbows and Recurves. I don't use compunds. :D

  • I'm a walking distance from that guy. LOL!!! That's to funny.

  • saying that your right hand does all the work is pretty misleading. When you get out of the low poundage range the strain of your left elbow and shoulder, and both shoulder blades is imense and you have to put effort in to not hurting yourself.

  • this is kinda a question to everyone, ive been trying to get back into archery(i took like 9 summer camp courses) but the problem is that i always had the equipmaent provided, im trying to find reasonably priced equipment for myself, mainly just a recurve bow(i suck at compounds)and some arrows.. anyone know a good website?

  • what kind of bow is that?

  • @9FDproductions How to Shoot a RECURVE BOW

  • you pulled it like 30 cm and i thought it would not even reach the target!

    so powerful

  • Can you use a release on a recurve bow?

  • @Avatar230594 yeah

  • @Avatar230594 sure, I use 2 different types of releases

  • I'm starting on a compound bow, but once I can shoot that well enough, I'm going to buy a recurve to build up more skill.

  • I'm not going to attack anybody here. What I will say is that as hunters, our worst enemy is not anti hunting groups. Our worst enemy is ourselves, and the bickering between cliques. Hunting with traditional or modern equiptment should be respected without one side calling the other worthless. same for riflemen who shoot single shots, or bolt actions. This is not a new debate, it has been going on for some 800 years now.

  • I know nothing about bows but I found this highly entertaining :P Thanks!

  • i shoot all bows but i love my longbow and recurve more and my grouping and accuracy with them are the same as any guy with a compound bow.

  • damn it i only have the right speaker my left speaker is broken, whyyyyy

  • @DarkAssassin101100 You can change the balance of your Master Volume to 100% to the right, hopefully this helps.

  • Plain recurves, esp. lightweight takedowns, are hard to find b/c most hunters think more about how much meat goes in the freezer rather than what it took to get that meat. If that describes you, that's cool, but when you brag that you got n-number of kills just remember to bow down when i get the same number with a recurve.

  • What brand of bow is that?

  • my fletching keeps tearing off

  • @zanaik Use stronger glue?

  • I just got my recurve bow yesterday. I love videos like yours, becuase I don't have a formal teacher or a class I love getting tips and lessons from exprienced bowman such as yourself. Thanks buddy.

  • is this arrow head archery shop?

  • goddamn ads

  • My left ear enjoyed this.

  • @MetalAnonym0us You too? o_o Must be only this video. Here I thought they were breaking. D:

  • I shoot a recurve I made myself. My sole purpose was to make a heavy duty bow, and I did just that. I used laminated oak to a thickness of just under an inch about halfway down either limb. How would I get it tested to see how strong it is? All I know is that it's a beast to pull back and I keep breaking store bought strings.

  • I've been shooting recurves since age 14. I'm 58 now and have never shot a compound before. My older brother insisted I take his compound (Bear Silent Hunter), since he's not using it. My first two shots went into the ground. On my third shot I aimed through the peepsite and pin. From only 30 feet, I missed the target by 4 feet and nearly damaged the house. I'm back to recurves forever!

  • he snap shoots. he didn't take any time to aim. I shoot a 45# recurve barebow and learned to shoot point of aim. Of course the arrow is going to "go where it wants" because if you don't actually aim it, it goes where it is pointing. I would agree that there is some movement of the arrow where it wants due largely to the arrow hitting the riser as it leaves, but I can still shoot pretty consistent with my bow.

  • my right ear is lonely :(

  • @tyttkoolkat is a Hoyt draco

  • after i installed a clicker onto my bow. it keep hitting my arm ;( how should i train my bow arm to turn in when i shoot?

  • Hey what is the name of the bow he is shooting? Some one please help me out with what the name of it is?

  • @tytykoolkat recurve bow

  • 2:53 - Remember, we can't come around to where you are to see your hands.

  • skip to 3:50 to see him shoot it

  • I've had my first lesson today. and even then i can see his form sucks.

  • That is the ugliest fucking recurve I have ever seen.

  • @tellmeitsnottaken Its camo. He most likely uses it for hunting.

  • @slevscythe I know it's camo. I was talking about the shape of it. And there's no way this jackass hunts with it, because the arrows apparently "go wherever they want to" when he shoots it.

  • @tellmeitsnottaken Haha sorry about that. Didnt know what you were talking about exactly. But yeah, "the arrow going where it wants" just shows his intelligence. This guy seems more of like a gun nut than an archer

  • Ok whats the big difference of a recurve bow and a compound bow, which is better????

  • Ohh lord, what a disgrace to Hoyt. I feel bad for that bow of his.

  • aight... not bad...

    Frikkin awesome

  • Fuck you 

  • Don't use the arrow for a compound bow on a recurve bow. I meant don't use a three fletching arrow with a recurve if you want to score better. Should use full recurve bow stabilizer for better result also. For techniques look at the Korean Way as they're the best Archers in the world.

  • @khuongdung let me guess....you are korean

  • @guildenstern71 Good try, but I am not Korean, I'm Vietnamese, and I am also a big fan of Korean Archery Team.

  • I like it, but I'd rather shoot an all-wood flat-bow at 30" draw length at around 55 lbs. Nothing like good old-fashioned archery, but I have to admit - this stuff isn't bad either :)

  • @celticbattleaxe Compound is training wheels

  • @Cheddarlover124 Tell me about it :)

  • @Cheddarlover124 I still prefer REAL wooden bows with no artificial additives.

This website offers the best deals I found on wooden bows for the price and quality:

    redmountainarchery(dot)com. I highly recommend it

  • "sometimes it goes where it wants to" means the guy doesnt actually know how to shoot a real bow without the trigger release, let offs, cams, and other BS you get on modern crap... learn to shoot a real bow and the arrow will ALWAYS go where YOU want it to

  • im going to start archery soon and i was wondering, what would be a good starting bow? im not going to buy one right away though, im going to rent one and take a month of lessons to see how i like it and if i want to make the commitment, but if i do make it, wut bow should i get?

  • @Bytricy That's what I was thinking the entire time. This guy has no business in front of a camera.

  • Comment removed

  • DAMN!!!!!! this dude is an IDIOT. Hillbilly Archers need to go away. They give the whole sport a bad image. Hunting and target alike. They already messed up anything dealing with guns LEAVE THIS SPORT ALONE.

  • What's the point of a compound bow? Why not just shoot a rifle or a crossbow. All the ol' boys my Dad shot with would laugh these sissy's to death, trigger release? What!!!! 30+ second hold to figure out what you'd like to do, arm scabbard.... really? Man up! shoot a 80 lb draw straight or recurve and learn how to hold and release correctly, it's an art that many can't do anymore. It's funny watching some one who's never shot a recurve, they can barely load an arrow with out dropping it.

  • I shoot my bow 3 fingers under with a tab. But is there much difference shooting one over two under? Always been curious.

  • @DoctorUnplugged Personal preference and nothing more.

  • hey where can i be able to find a good archery store in miami because at the place where i live i always go to outdoor world and all i see there are compound bows.can you be able to recomend any other good archery stores in miami because i am a beginner at archery and i would like to know how to shoot a recurve bow.if you are reading may you be able to contact me as soon as you read this.thank you.

  • @darthbrown32 order from the internet thats what it do

  • this video is bs

  • @TheInitateLXG tell that to my parents :)

  • I love archery but a good bow is really expensive :(

  • what a good looking bow. where can u buy the camo version?

  • i do one over one under

  • compound bows are Cheaters bows it uses more skill to use a bare recurve bow with no sights no stabilisers. so help keep the recurve alive and thumbs up so every one can see

  • @Snow101453

i agree im just started archery lessons i must admit i like the recurve bow its takes energy and feels more rewarding

  • @Snow101453 true. it is more traditional, and requires more skill. But if one day for some very retarded reason I find myself in a gunfight and all i have is a bow, i'd prefer a compound.

  • @crazypizza yea same really coz a compound has more power

  • @Snow101453 There's no problem with shooting a compound bow. I admire the skill it takes to shoot traditional longbows and recurves, but all bows are heavily based on technique.Compound or other, they all require extensive skill. Some people work better with Recurves than Compounds, and vice-versa. It's up to you.

Also, don't thumb whore. It doesn't make you any better of a person.

  • @Snow101453 its all instinctively, Kind of like throwing a football, you dont aim when you throw a footbally :)

  • @Snow101453 Not at all m8 i shoot a reflex growler compound sightless i recently shot a recurve and will be purchaseing the bow seen here the only difference between my compound and the recurve is the draw and hold. This guy is the sloppyest archer i have ever seen i want a recurve for the traditional factor albeit tech has changed incredibly my father inlaw shoots a compound from roughly the 1980s its almost as hard a draw as a recurve. I respect your opinion but respect choice in archery.

  • @TriggaTap oh ok bro nice man and yea he is a bit sloppy im not one of those people that pick fights so i respect your comment man

  • @Snow101453 I have a passion for recurves and while it is true it takes a lot more skill to shoot them, it takes a lot more strength and length, too. Someone people use compound bows because they don't want to deal with not killing their deer first shot. Small people, weak people and people with handicaps are very thankful for compounds, I'm sure. I just wanted to put that out there.

  • @Snow101453 yeah i hate compound bows. they look like camo-colored robots with strings. I prefer plain bows myself, the type that uses REAL skill and actually helps perfect aim and strength, not having the bow do most of the work for you. That's why I'm getting a plain recurve bow first chance i get :D

  • @Snow101453 i wouldnt call them cheaters yes recurve bows take alot more technique but compound bows put more meat in the freazer

  • @Snow101453 i actually think shooting my recurve is easier... i take it small game hunting because i see a target, pull up and shoot the target. its all instinctive, and after enough practice it's second nature. i do, however, use my compound most of the time for deer because i get cleaner pass throughs, better blood trails and slightly (10 yds) longer shots. (i know it takes more skill to get close to an animal, but if that buck of a lifetime walked just out of recurve range, i'd kill myself

  • @FueledByTyeler that's when your hunting buddy takes a photo of the one that "you LET get away" to help improve the gene pool. ;)

  • @Snow101453 You got my thumbs up -- unfortunately they removed the thumbs

  • bare with me guys, sometimes a recurve "goes where it wants to sometimes" just in case i miss yall dont laugh at me

  • im looking for a recurve bow that i can use to hunt from a further distance and can still be powerful. any suggestions??

  • @ryukyukempoBjjMMA1 you probably should go with a martin jaguar takedown recurve. it has a draw weight of 40, 45 ,50, and 55 pounds. (all are the same bows, just different draw weight

  • tbh, i think if your going to make a vid about how to shoot a recurv bow, you should know what your doing and shoot it propperly.

  • Recurves are the best. have a 1960s Ben Pearson Hunter 45 lb.

  • @jrwel14

    I have a 1953 bear panda

    ={)

  • @ROFLdudes That's cool. Think mine is a hunter. I camoflauged it. later, I took the paint off and the markings came off.

  • What bow is that.

  • @nbow27 its a hyot. not sure the model but the handle is a dead give away

  • Thank you for the video, I have a Q, what kind of arrows you shoot the best with a competition recurve bow, 45lb? ty

  • Compounds seem unfair to game and recurves rock!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @BMX4LIFE2299

ya if you want to shoot a compound you might as well get a gun.

    ={)

  • action begins at 3:46

  • Feels like people that were good/better at archery (bows) in the medieval age than these days where technology really helps us so much..

  • medieval archers would train almost 24/7 from something like the age of 12 until they were adults and went into the army and still shoot 24/7 until they won or died

  • advertisement keeps screwing up the vid

  • Ill Give u a tip

    buy some new eyes

  • Good video, but short. Come on over to our page for more information. We are experts and you can all learn a LOT from us :)

  • what are the best carbon arrows that I can shoot with a 60-65lb recurve bow?

  • i shot a recurve but it was a training one from the 80's. sucked at it and my pointer finger has a blister on it.

  • When I was 12, I shot my first bow. I actually never seen or heard of a bow at that time but the instrument looked ugly and soulless. Now (14 now), I find more life in a recurve.

  • ''compound'' is for the fake archers, a ''recurve'' or proper stick bow is for a proper archer

with a proper bow you trust your instincs, with a ''compound'' you just have to pull the string back

  • when you said finger release isn't as accurate as mechanical, I beg to differ go ask Rick Welch how he shoots a bow.

  • hee hee i just has a big dislexic brain fart. I thought the title said how to survive a bow shot

  • In my experience, a recurve doesn't "go where it wants sometimes", that's ridicules.

  • @pimp10191 in my experience, ridicules is also spelled ridiculous, but i totally agree with you

  • @pimp10191 so is your spelling

  • its not one over two under is called split finger dumbshit

  • He's using a left handed bow?

  • @RachelJones4 um, no

  • Using a compound bow is effective, yes. Inasmuch as a monkey can shoot one with a fair degree of accuracy...

    BUT

It also, passively, numbs your instinctual shooting ability.... by coming equipped with gadgets that do the job your Arms eyes and brain should be working on themselves(sights stabilizers "let-off") IMO let off is the greatest disservice a compound bow provides...

Using a tab instead of a glove cripples you inasmuch as release requires no technique crippling your "trick shots"

  • 30.5" draw my ass

  • Would shooting a bow with 20lb. draw weight hurt my fingers continuously if I dont use a glove? If it does, will baseball/sports/etc. gloves work?

  • @CCedible My fingers get pretty killed when I practice with my 26#, definitely recommend gloves.

  • shooting a bow with a baseball glove doesnt sound possible to me :P and it depends how much you shoot it and if its cold out but i would definately get an archery glove they arent expensive. besides you would probly hurt ur fingers if you shot it much at all so just get a glove meant for it.

  • when is shoot a bow i shoot with my right hand but im left handed is that ok or not

  • @shadowhacka93 I believe that for bows, its more about your dominant eye than your dominant hand. Still, this one guy told me he draws with his right hand even though he's left eye dominant. I'm right handed, but I draw with my left cause my dominant eye is left and I can aim better.

  • Does anyone use gloves much anymore? Because at the range I go to most people there (including me) just use tabs.

  • @jess1541 Here in Germany most people who use gloves shoot traditional longbows or barebows (is that what they are called in English?) like he does.

  • @jess1541 tabs are cheep, gloves are more expensive. shoot for an hour a day, 5 days/week for a year and you will probably get gloves or a release. been there, done that

  • cool dude

  • Yeah, Larry, stick with your compound devices.....@Firecat719 -I can shoot pretty well with pretty much any real bow(trad). Granted I shoot better with my own.....

  • @petrosspetrosgali I only shoot with recurve, Compounds etc are too high-tech for me :3

  • @supah1337B Yeah, same.

  • What bow u got there??

  • i just came back from archery lessons in school and wanted to show my mom a compound bow and the bow we use at school(reflexive)

  • recurve doesnt "sometimes goes where it wants to" you just suck at archery and the years of a compound have probably made it so

  • @megadeth22885 Compoundbow's are awesome man,

  • @megadeth22885 i love compound bows

  • @megadeth22885 I think that he meant compared to a compound bow.

  • @megadeth22885 after reading your comment i assumed this video was from expert village.

  • I noticed the attachment for the arrow is on the left side. Is there any way to switch it? Attach in the right side

  • does anyone know what make and model the recurve bow is?

  • @dirtbikerider153 Martin Jaguar Take-Down Bow

  • @dirtbikerider153 it's a hoyt gamemaster 2.

  • look at how guilty he looks for lying about his shot at 3:52 lol

  • stick and string. pretty simple. just pull back and feel the shot. if you have good form and atleast 10 hours practice a week, you'll get there just fine.

  • @tibherius dont be such a rude bastard, he took the time to make this video so dont be an arrogant toad for no reason

  • pathfinder huh?

  • There is thousands of target archers out there pissing their pants while watching you shoot. Just terrible form.

  • when i shoot a box, sometimes it kinda like bounces off. what am i doing wrong?

  • SHOULD YOU WAX THE STRING ON A RECURVE?

  • @teatshanglow426 Definatley if you want to keep getting good groups and have a string that lasts.....

  • i just bought a hoyt gamemaster 2 recurve and its very loud is there any way to quite it down

  • @traditionalbows123

have to put any limb savers or string dampeners on it? try installing cat whiskers and a limb saver on each limb. my bow has alot of shock without them esp the string dampeners. i dont shoot a game master but thought i would share what helped my bows

  • @traditionalbows123 Yes there is. you need to play around with the brace hight and see if it improves when you reduce or increase it. check also that there is not a clearence issue between arrow and riser. Have a coach show you how to tune the bow then it should quieten down...

  • I got one of these for Christmas today

  • @ironmancat Me too. Too bad it is cold as fuck outside.

  • @MajBlood ur a pervert

  • @ironmancat Excuse my French.

  • 3:48

i bet he completely missed what he was aiming for

  • you know, if u pull the string to your ear/the end of your jaws, it will be more powerful

  • if you hit the arrow keys during the video a game of worm pops up....

  • @Damico07 OMG lol it does!!! :D

  • @chaosblade188 thank you i was afraid i was the only one seeing it hahaha...

  • what kind of bow is thats recurve your shooting

  • I didn't know recurves are still in production. I had a custom made wooden one I was gifted several years ago but after the fiberglass started fissuring I unstrung it. all I can find now are compounds, any advice on where to find a recurve that's 40-45 pounds?

  • fail title, i wanted to watch someone shoot a bow. not some cow yapping about

  • 2:53 ya cuz we totally saw how u did the 3-under hold

  • its a great video
