I love this commercial, instant classic. We all dig the long ball. I don't care what people say. 1998 was the best year in baseball and it saved baseball. Without McGwire baseball was really struggling for attendance. No one complained about steroids and HGH. We all just enjoyed the show and the tickets were sold. There were no test being done. It was like 90% of the players doing steroids yet we blame McGwire for being the best at what he did. Mcgwire put on a show and I freaking loved it

Go back and count the empty seats at the 1997 World Series and realize that attendance is largely tied to winning and markets and little else. Did McGwire save baseball in Montreal?

Had people known, everything would have changed and the ultimate consequence is a total tainting of precious historical records. Poor Glavine. His release by the Braves yesterday reminded me of this commercial. The Braves came to Dodger Stadium around the time this commercial was in the rotation on tv. Glavine was walking back to the dugout after just striking out. I yelled "Hey Glavine! Chicks dig the long ball!" I swear a whole section was laughing their asses off at him (obviously the commercial was fresh in thier minds too).. He kept his head down and continued to the dugout without saying a word.
