  • How great would Maddux, Glavine, and Smolts have been in a non juice decade?

  • Love this commercial. Hilarious. Miss those days.

  • For Mark it wasnt really the shoes...

  • 0:17 You sure about that?

  • One of my favorite commericals ever. Chicks dig the long ball

  • "Come on, Alice!"

  • Pshh, and y'all thought Rick Ankiel just had control problems?

Dude didn't really go wild 'til he switched to LF...

  • c'mon alice!!!

  • Chicks Dig the Long Ball*

  • I love this commercial, instant classic. We all dig the long ball. I don't care what people say. 1998 was the best year in baseball and it saved baseball. Without McGwire baseball was really struggling for attendance. No one complained about steroids and HGH. We all just enjoyed the show and the tickets were sold. There were no test being done. It was like 90% of the players doing steroids yet we blame McGwire for being the best at what he did. Mcgwire put on a show and I freaking loved it

  • @gold2008 ... baseball was not in need of "saving," it was doing fine. Sure, the home run chase returned baseball to the forefront of American popular culture and brought back many of the people who had abandoned the game following the 1994 strike, but the sport was not on the verge of extinction or irrelevance. Go back and count the empty seats at the 1997 World Series and realize that attendance is largely tied to winning and markets and little else. Did McGwire save baseball in Montreal?

  • @gold2008 No one complained about steroids and HGH because virtually no one knew that McGwire, Sosa, and some of the others were on the juice. Had people known, everything would have changed and the ultimate consequence is a total tainting of precious historical records. McGwire, Sosa, and cheaters like them cheated the public of an innocent, pure run at Roger Maris' home run record.

  • i just watch baseball for homers without steriods baseball boring as hell now the home run debry is boring dont nobody wanna watch no 2-1 game for 9 long innings

  • @TheEaglesfanindc

    Except BASEBALL FANS.

  • @TheEaglesfanindc Low-scoring games are generally more intense and don't last as long as bloated, steroidal slugfests.

  • Watching this again makes me feel old.

  • @Khaoki

LOL! same here bro! My kids get embarrassed when i throw on my Reebok Pumps and show up at there games!

  • As pitchers go these two were pretty decent hitters, Glavine was called on to pinch hit a few times.

  • 18 people come up "short", if you know what I mean.

  • Tom- "how long are they gonna whorship this guy?"- Till they find out his on Roids Tom

It really is the shoes!- No it really is the Roids

  • Baseball should just legalize steroids and allow aluminum bats. Then infielders and pitchers will need to wear helmets, games will last 4 hours long on average, and chicks will really dig the long ball and 16-12 final scores.

  • Tom and Greg should have a sitcom.

  • this never gets old.

  • 18 people are really sad about being Cleveland Indians fans...

  • top upload - your video was the best! you are star.

  • it's funny because they're both first ballot Hall of Famers and McGwire has no shot

  • Hey! Now we got two 300 win club members over here!

  • Funny with all the juice McGwire was on his testicles were probably too warped to satisfy those ladies. And chicks should dig Hall of Famers before juicers. Great commercial

  • The greatest baseball commercial Ever

  • That's my Braves!

  • Maddux never had a dominating fast ball and he has 355 career wins.

  • @thewolfmanchu u dont know wat ur talking about... he had an EXTREMELY dominating fastball early in his career then he noticed if he took a little bit off, then the ball moved more so he decided less is more and decided to get guys out with movement instead of blowing it by people

  • come on alice

  • do they still sell those shoes?

  • 0:44 love Glavine's pose. "Yeah, I just murdered that one" HAHA love the music too

  • They should replace that shoe on McGwire's bicep on that billboard with a giant syringe. He, along with Bonds and the rest, a bunch of friggin' cheaters.

  • tommy and greg were dominating in an era where hitters such as mcgwire, sosa, bonds, and canseco were juicing up and hitting more home runs than ever. In my opinion these two had more talent than any of those juiced up sluggers and they will be sitting in the hall while these other jokers are battling the heart effects of steroids.

  • @gjh12

u 4got 2mention A-rod, or as in some circles call him A-fraud lol

  • almost as good as the tony gwynn-bip roberts commercial...anyone have that one??

  • HAHAHAHAHA GREAT! Maddux =(

  • come on alice

  • Ahhh... nostalgia for the steroid era.

  • Ask me w/this being tagged as "the year of the pitcher" (we did have our 11th no-no in MLB last night) they should do a chics dig the no-no commercial!

  • "Hey, we got Cy Young winners over here" and "Have you guys seen Mark?" Brilliant. Love this commercial.

  • Greatest. Commercial. Ever.

  • For such a long time we thought it was the shoes. Turns out it wasn't.

  • In August, the Braves will retire # 47 for Glavine.

  • This was not filmed at Busch. It was filmed at the Vet.

  • The Record is Still Roger Maris's...Doosh bag roid heads..everyone that hit over 61 did roids...its a god dam crying shame that its still not considered roger's record...

  • have you guys seen Mark!

  • both of them did the bash brothers clap like what canseco and mcguire used to do

  • Best commercial ever! hahahaha

  • STEP INTO IT

  • You can never accuse Maddux and Glavine of taking Roids! Love Maddux!

    STEP INTO IT ALICE!

  • It's the Roids. Nike

  • C'mon Alice!

  • All the cheaters surfacing enhance Glavine and Maddux's values. Both of these guys dominated the steroid area cleanly and without dominant stuff. Not only should they be first ballot hall of famers but unanimous decisions. And borderline hall of famers that played in the steroid era cleanly should also get in the hall. Fred McGriff comes to mind.

  • @wildmike2310 Without dominant stuff? Even though they didnt throw 100mph pitches and have curveballs that dropped off the table, you dont win that many Cy Youngs, games, etc... without having dominant stuff.

  • @jmangana

I think what he's saying is that they didn't have dominating fastballs.

They don't need to have a dominating fastball to be a dominating pitcher.

  • @TheStSilver That was the whole point of my comment, but when you stay "stuff" in terms of pitching, you are talking about the whole repertoire. If you want to talk about a fastball, you say fastball.

  • @jmangana

I agree, just trying to clear up what he said.

  • @wildmike2310 +1 for the crime dog

  • @wildmike2310 someones a braves fan

  • to think, all that time spent training hard and working hard, when all they had to do was cheat and take steroids!

  • @MrBurgundy76

dude, you still have to workout even if you take roids. muscles dont just appear out of nowhere when you inject it.

  • can you live with that?

  • Mad Dog is a funny dude.

  • i completely forgot about this. LOL

  • HEY! We got Cy Young winners over here!

  • @glebs lol

  • this is only funnier after the fact. Jeez...

  • lol :21

  • Nice one mark! Go cry with Costas.. "I wasn't in exile. its called retirement."

  • haha I loved this commercia.

  • it really is the juice. Mark

  • I miss our 2 Cys!

  • LOL, too funny. I'd never seen this before. Can anyone tell me what year this commercial is from?

  • 1999, it was a preseason hype thing after the summer of 1998

  • Oh ok, cool. Thanks!

  • One of my all time favs! I bought my dad a shirt that says Chicks Dig the Long Ball a while back. Probably wears that shirt once week at least. haha

  • watching this what we know know now..this is too funny!

  • i wish smoltz was in this too, he also won a cy young

  • lol

    i LOVE this commercial

    my boys

  • so classic haha

  • haha this is pretty funny...gotta love nike

  • those shoes are sick...i was too young to wear mens sizes back than otherwise i would of bought those. do they sell those anywhere, they look like air max's

  • anyone have the tony gwynn-bip roberts commercial from 1995??? plz send it to me--its about bip's baseball card

  • lol nice

  • This is my favorite commercial ever.

  • "Hey we got Cy Young winners over here!"

  • best. nike. commercial. ever. PERIOD.

  • LMAO "It really is the shoes"

more like "It really is the JUICE!"

  • Chicks dig Steroids & the Viagra

  • Chicks dig the long ball...so did the owners. The long ball made them a lot of money back in those days. Truly a shameful time in MLB (late 90s, early 2000s) where morals and standards were at an all time low.

  • cracks me up everytime i watch this lol..two great picthers

  • Classic commercial.

  • Maddux just had his number retired. It will be a matter of time until the Braves put up # 47 for Glavine. mcgwire will never have that honor. From a Yankee fan, congrats to Maddux and Glavine on having great, steroid free careers.

  • From a Yankees fan that means something, I'm a braves fan and haven't always beena Yanks fan but thats shows a lot of respect. Thanks Man those guys will bin in Coopers Town Some day and so will Jeter and other Yank greats

  • I remember watching the Braves vs Yankees in the 1996 as well as the 1999 World Series. Both Maddux and Glavine were great, even though the Yankees won both years. I tip my hat to them. The Braves didn't lose because of Maddux and Glavine. Both played the game the right way, and they perfected their craft on the mound.

  • cheers brother

  • I guess all that milk was put to good use

    ;D

  • Chicks dig a pair of non-steriod ravaged B@lls.

  • steroid*

  • Get over yourself - this is a spoof, making fun of themselves... ass.

  • The billboard should've said "It really IS the juice" ... Greg was an artist .. baseball ain't the same without him in my opinion.

  • Greg, Tom don't worry both of you will be in the Hall of Fame and Mark more than likely won't.

  • And Heather is old now lol, so total bode for Glavine & Maddux.

  • "Hey, have you guys seen Mark?"

Last time I saw him he was lying to the Senate and not talking about the past. I guess he'll be on the outside looking in when Maddux and Glavine make the HOF.

HOF voters don' t dig the 'roid-aided long ball.

  • because of this reason all the chicks dig me

  • does anybody know the name of the sneakers at 0:18 ive been looking for them for a long time

  • The best part about it is the humor totally reflects how they are as pitchers. Dry and efficient.

  • Tommy, Greg, thanks. You guys rock.

  • what's really funny about this commercial is that maddux and glavine were actually great hitters.

  • Poor Glavine. His release by the Braves yesterday reminded me of this commercial. The Braves came to Dodger Stadium around the time this commercial was in the rotation on tv. Glavine was walking back to the dugout after just striking out. I yelled "Hey Glavine! Chicks dig the long ball!" I swear a whole section was laughing their asses off at him (obviously the commercial was fresh in thier minds too).. He kept his head down and continued to the dugout without saying a word. Great sport.

  • Braves just released Glavine yesterday. Looks like Glavine and Maddux will be competing to enter the Hall of Fame in 20 years.

  • Thanks Tom! You will always be Atlanta's MVP

  • Hey, we've got cy young winners over here.

  • I loved it when Tom and Greg both played for the Braves they were just awesome! I miss those days.

  • Glavine is still with the Braves. Maddux will have his number retired by the Braves this year.

  • Cy Young Award winners, 300 game winners, first ballot Hall of Famers, and both players will have their numbers retired.

  • and they didn't take steroids (as far as we know)

  • Glavine and Maddux weren't on steroids.

  • With no steroids.

  • Not to mention, both players have won more than 60% of their games, and are more than 100 games above .500 in their careers.

  • One of the best commercials of all time

  • hahahaha!!!! hilarious, I knew Maddux had personality, but I didn't know Glavine could be funny!!!! Funny vid!!!!

  • Baseball was better back then. Go Braves!

  • Steroid monkeys suck.

The only "long balls" I want to see are the 400 grounders and the outfielders throwing them back. Guys like Ichiro play *real* baseball.

  • Glavine and Maddox are better ball players then Mark could ever be - they dominated with talent and hard work. They would spend an extra 2 hours working out, Mark would take off an extra 2 hours early and just juice up. Ridiculous.

  • I wouldn't say guys that use steroids don't work hard. They just get a lot stronger than they naturally could, but you still have to work out even when taking steroids.

  • @fpm919 Good comment. It's so pointless trying to point this out to the humanoids out here, who think that steroids magically make you stronger. Of corse i have never used PHD, but i always find it funny to see the masses of people who just dont get it.

  • How about the 49 homeruns he hit his rookie year?

  • Well I'll bet Greg and Tom have a better chance of getting chicks than Mark does now.

  • Probably due to his shriveled testicles.

  • Yea lol the one thing roids shrink.

  • It's about the music!

  • Chicks dig the steroids.

  • My game, my team, my south, GO BRAVES!

  • you should have posted the clip of him hitting a homerun the next week. And espn was like "i guess chicks do dig the long ball". i think it was no1 on sportcenter highlights. And id take greg maddux on my team before mark mcgwire anyday. And im an oakland A's fan.

  • I gotta say, I haven't seen Mark lately.

    Go Braves.

  • greatest commercial ever! braves for life!

  • I'm going to miss you Greg!

  • "come on alice"

ahah always say that when working out. love yah greg

  • Cub. Brave. Maddox was the man, the game won't be the same now that he's gone. Happy retirement.

  • Enjoy retirement, Greg. U are on of the GOATs

  • Going to miss you Maddux

  • that's heather locklear

  • "hey, we got Cy Young winners over here" ha ha, that was PRICELESS.

  • oh.. i thought they said "we got same underwears here"

    oops

but i hope braves can make another division run like back then in 1991-2005

  • do you even know what you are talking about???

  • unfortunately he retired today. Great pitcher, he would definitely be missed.

  • lol i'm actually more of a pitching kinda girl.. i never really dug the long ball ;)

its alright Glavine and Maddux!! lol

    soo funny!

  • In my 28 years of existence, I can say with great ease that this is one of the funniest commercials I have ever seen.

Maddux and Glavine are priceless here.

I'd love to hear the story from whatever Nike executive was in charge of how this all came together.

  • This is a classic. Great acting by Glavine and Maddux.

  • who got the last laugh?

maddux & glavine: 1rst ballot HOF...

    mcgwire...in hiding.

    justice is served!

  • why doesnt the nl use the DH? i mean pretty much all the pitcher does at bat is bunt or strike out

  • I think the better question is why does the AL use DH, there are good hitting pitchers, jason marquis, Babe Ruth was outstanding. I think it adds to the purity of the game, i mean they use hitters to pitch why not pitcher to hit?

  • the vast majority of pitchers are terrible at the plate...i dont like to see a pitcher blow two bunt attempts and flail at an elementary curve ball for a strikeout. pitchers should just go out there and do what they're paid to do and pitch and let the hitters take care of the hitting

  • if they suck they suck, its just part of the game, i mean tell me you wouldnt want someone who is an amazing pitcher and hitter on your team over someone who can just hit, its another dh when you need it but everyone is entitled to their own opinion about dh's im just a national league girl so i have always preferred having the pitcher hit

  • lol your forgetting somebody....Carlos Zambrano anyone? hes hit 14 homers....and he hit like 350 average this year

  • see even more proof hitting pitchers are awesome haha

  • cuz there's joe mother fucking blanton hitting homeruns in the world series

  • ha ha ha! funny as shit! * favorited*

  • Classic shit

  • They should have it be "Hey, we got 300 game winners over here!"

  • Definitely. I was going to say that.

  • GO BRAVOS!!

  • one of the best commercials...does anyone have the tony gwynn-bip roberts commercial from around 1995? that was a funny one also

  • THOSE DUDES R SICK

    heat
