Hmm looks like these might be legal to carry in my state. The law states that "metal knuckles" are prohibited. It says nothing about polymer knuckles. I love it when the law doesn't catch up with tech and works in my favor :)

If you just add more space in front of the fingers (make the holes a bit more oval shaped), you reduce the risk of injury and make it possible to punch more freely.

They're kinda useless IMO.

The finger holes are way too small. If you punch someone with them, the risk of breaking a finger is pretty damn big. They even point this out on their website and say that you're not supposed to put them on all the way in like you would wear rings (i.e. the way you wear all other knuckle dusters), but wear them between the first and second knuckle on your fingers. But how the hell are you supposed to be able to punch someone with them on like that?

Not putting them all the way down like I do it. So holding them the way Mercop says you should...you hit yor attacker with a hook or uppercut.,..not a straight right.

haven't hit the heavy bag with them...don't see the purpose.

No, it's not that important, but the idea of punching a heavy bag would be to try them out on a surface that doesn't give. Another way is to take a folded towel, put it on the floor and see how hard you can punch it without feeling pain. If you can punch it really hard and from different angles, you know that the knuckles will protect your hands really well.
