Keep the left hand light and loose-- that's the key to fast passages, or anything that will require flexibility (you'll need it for blues/jazz scales). Any stiffness in the left arm/shoulder can really work against you here, so resist the temptation to clutch the instrument with your shoulder or thumb, or to press down hard on the strings.
If the first 9 notes of the main melody trip you up a lot, consider practicing it forwards and backwards.
Awesome!! Our 8th grade full orchestra is doing this for our pops concert! The first violin part is pretty hard. Any advice?
