  • Maybe someone has already pointed it out but the Cadets took Round 4 from Tarpon Springs's 2007 show En Garde.

  • eveyrbody shut up cadets are doin there thang every corps is different so stop riding there nuts beacuase they are different? where have u guys marched?

  • some people really don't know what the cadets are all about. stop talking shit.

  • I really wish the winds actually MOVED and MARCHED in this section of the show instead of doing gimmicky stuff...

Honestly this show as a whole, as a SHOW was bland and was just bad effect in terms of show design.... I was sorta-ok with narration in 07 b/c it was actually nicely intertwined with the music, but i just wanted to cringe every time the guy said "sooooo". Regardless of how awful the show was designed just the talent though makes this actually bearable to watch..

  • why did they go home?what happened?

  • AW man.... That quad lick was SOOO clean early in the season...... It's too bad half their quad line had to go home. Well, I guess you do what you can when half your quad line comes in mid-season. Still a badass drum feature. Go Cadets!

  • Please stop narrating!! It really is embarrassing.

  • Amen, hrnguy

  • FTC!!!!

  • im not feelin it. that opening snare lick was dirty...ouch. cadets sure have lost alot of talent.

  • Blah Blah Blah. Crown bait.

  • BAHAHAHAHAHAH HAHAHA ahaha... ahHAhHAHAHa dude thts just too damn funny... thts not sarcasm though... Crown is AMAZING this summer.

  • Mic Malfunction! They have to do the show without narration, *score went up 10+* lol. Naw just kidd'n I know you guys believe in what you do and I thats why I respect drum corp and love doing. Keep it up cadets, love the drumline.

  • Oh, Cadets! Don't make me cry because of your narration!

You're so good, you don't need it.

  • :30 to the end was tarpon springs marching bands music from last year. The corps had to get permission from Frank Sullivan who writes for tarpon springs to put that in their show.

  • i just saw them at the orlando regional

    and i want to know...

    IT'S AS SIMPLE AS .... ?!??!?!!

  • GOOD GOD..After three years of Narration you would think SOMEONE would get the hint.

LET THE MUSIC AND PERFORMANCE TO THE TALKING.

  • Amen! agreed 100%!!!!!!!

  • this is in response to BDBANDVIDEO

  • they need to shut up

  • playing the most notes doesnt mean theyre the best, theyre damn good no doubt, but i think bluecoats are taking drums this year

  • I doubt bluecoats will take it. If you look at the scores, best drumline will probably go to phantom or blue devils. Both the corps have drumlines that have improved the most and are playing the best. But who knows what will happen by the end of the season.

  • This is a championship show.. no matter what any one says..

  • Great sound. They've always been a great corps. trying to be innovative, but talking in the show is a bit distractive from the instruments. It got by in 2005 and won the Cadets a title then, but trying to ride that wave of success 4 years in a row is a bit over done. We'll see how it stacks up with BD, SCV, PR and Cavies.

  • i'm so over the narration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The narration is so overbearing and tackey. It overshadows what a great corps they are. I find it very difficult to enjoy this with all that blabbing. Thanks, george, thanks.

  • the cadets have amzing musical ability, but they need to stop talking so much. Drum corps should be about music and exelent marching. the cadets are still my corps but I wish they had less talking.

  • oh oh gawd.. another dumbass lame drum feature just like the past 8 years . Narration sucks arse

  • speak 4 ur self.. but i bet u couldnt play or march that show (fyi their line plays more notes and moves more than any line in dci)

  • that drum break sounded really sloopy especially in the snares and the middle of the tenors and by the way

    STOP TALKING!!!

  • Sigh...:(

  • Good playing and solid marching win DCI, at least without all this narrative crap. The 2008 Cadets show looks very, very good, and might just earn them a top 3 finish, or better. But since it's probably too late for any one of the stubborn-as-a-mule corps directors to even consider drastically changing their show, I just hope that they would consider getting a better script for their narrative. Their current one sounds like it was written by a first grader with a crayon.

  • stupid talking...

I wish that they used the practice version they had a few months ago...that was a nicer version of american elegy. I really wanted to hear more of it. I was thinking that they were going to make it like Phantom's 2003 Cannon, but i guess not.

  • WTF!!! MORE TALKING BS?! i thought maybe they had learned their lesson.

  • what lesson? they got 2nd in the world!

  • The only thing I have to say about the talking is the cadets play SOOOO GOOOD. It is a shame that it gets pushed to the background because you now have to listen to a story. I loved the 2005 show, and I was cool with 06 but last year was sad because the music was so good but that isnt what they wanted you to hear, you had to listen to a message. I saw the show live 2 times in Allentown and Atlanta, both times the narration was a major distraction for me.

  • I saw them the last day they were at spring training in 07 and the show was much better. I was also at Allentown but by that time, they had cut so much narration that the story really didn't make much sense which made become a distraction. 05 was amazing but I was greatly dissapointed in 06 with there being a singer on the field.

  • But not 1st.

  • um their lesson from the show through the looking glass or w/e that bs was

  • Narriation in or out.... they still r badass! i will admit 06 was weird... just because the show as a whole was confusing. 05 vocals... the won

    07 vocals runner up?

my point is... if the crowd doesnt like it... so what? the judges obviously do. thats all that matters.

  • I agree that they are incredibly good at what they do, and always have been. But I must disagree with "thats all that matters." Anyone remember Star of Indiana? They were a notch above everyone talent wise, yet were boo-ed every time they placed higher than 4th. They were nowhere near as extreme as this. I think having a crowd pleasing show also matters. I haven't seen them connect with a crowd now for a few years like they used to.

  • Once again... great music, great drill, and a great overall show... ruined by too much talking. really missing the 1990's...

  • I have a gut feeling this show's gonna change a whole lot come August 9....

Relax guys. Give The Cadets and George Hopkins at least a month before you bash away.

  • stop talking!!!

  • Mmm...the tenor break doesn't really do it for me, it's not as aggressive and beefy like the past couple years. Only June, though..

  • they had 2 out for some of spring training and the one is out for the season so they are missing one. and one hasnt marched it as much.

  • Not so longago simply playing Incredible Music-Marching AmazingDrillandwatching aColorguard likeNOother interpret theshowwith such powerandgraceWASthe benchmark.Thankfully there are stillCorps today that believe inthis asTheCadets"once"did."Ding Dong"Hey Hopkins,SomeoneISknocking atyour"Door".whylook,it's your old friend GreatDrumCorps. Please let it back in!Here's a start, all theZingalli years and everything up until around04'giveORtakeSOMEyears.A big"Dance Derby-YOWZA"thumbsDOWNfor narration!

  • I love how people on here direct their comments to George Hopkins.

As if George actually cares what you fucking think.

  • Fuck the Cadets...for now. Until they stop with this bullshit (read: when George Hopkins stops making retarded talk-fest shows)

  • nice vernacular used to express yourself tiger! You lend bunches of credibility to your arguments.

  • not gonna lie, they need to stop. (sigh)

From now on, I'm rooting for Phantom Regiment.

  • What happened to great music, incredible "actual" drill maneuvering and Colorguard that interprets the music through color and movement for more than 3 minutes of a show?....Bands of America is proud to present sponsored by Y.E.A..The Cadets..chirp chirp.....chirp....Least I'll know when it's time to go get that hotdog and Coke before a real drum corps takes the field.

Can't wait till next years show "High School Musical"

George ENOUGH already. Drop the Voices...this just in, NO ONE like it.

  • its different, and thats what i like about it. its only June. corps are just trying stuff out. i guarantee you that this show wont be anything like this come finals. stop bashing for 1 sec. and appreciate it for what it is.

  • needs alot of work...i say again...alot of work.

  • one of the last great cadet shows was 2000 for me. I loved them that year, I'm not feeling this narration the last couple years. Some is appropriate (Crown 07) but the last couple years have been too much. Just my opinion...

  • First off, I don't think there is near as much narration in this show as there was in last years show. Secondly it's early in the year so they could add, subtract or change the narration. The execution is that of a top 3 corps and that really is what matters. BD has only had narration one year that I can remember, but I have only every liked about two of their shows ever. It isn't about the narration at all, just watch the show and maybe the narration will make sense, especially in August.

  • WOW!!! I like it a lot! Still got that same feel from back when I marched.......HOLY NAME!!!!

  • This is drum corps, the show should "speak" for itself. The narration takes away from the show, and even ruins it. I would place this top of the finals board in august, but the narration just ruins it for me. Any electronic amplification is worse than the narration, and their show depends on electronics.

    all this IMHO

  • "Ladies and Gentlemen, please and stand up to congratulate for our new 2008 Bands of American National Champion"

  • could they get anymore fucking bando.

  • To say that I grew up a Garfield Cadets fan back in the 80's would be a huge understatement. I could go on for days about why I no longer route for the Cadets. Bottom line is that they have turned into something that really is conceptually just BOA with more precission. Why do they now feel the need to follow in the footsteps of HS band instead of leading the activity as they once did? Some will say that this is trend setting. The Cadets are driving a wedge between many fans and the activity.

  • I would actually be willing to say that some of the top BOA bands make narration work far better. Also, I'd be willing to say that the top bands are hardly using 'narration'. Bell, Avon, Carmel, The Woodlands (that wasn't a dialogue like this), Marian Catholic...eh. I want my old school Cadets or something that works...

  • Let me clarify that. I'm saying that the top finishers don't seem to be the ones riddled with narration. Sure, some of the top 12, but not the top 6 or so lately....at least, not like THIS! It was trend setting when PCEP was doing it in the late 80s and early 90s.

  • oh just to let you know, this isnt Nitro. It's Round Four!

  • Gotcha. Fixed. Thanks. =P

  • That was pretty f in neet too.
