@Icelemonaide Sometimes we do, but more often we'll ask for fries. Our traditional British chip shops cut them much thicker, so we tend to think of thin cut as being fries and thick cut as chips. But it wouldn't really matter to us if we said one or the other.
Though asking for fries in a chip shop might seem a tiny little bit out of place. It would probably signal you out as a foreigner, but we wouldn't be at all bothered by it.
the mcdonald's in my town in the west midlands, uk has just closed down and was the spitting image of the one featured here (the outside decor), up until the end! (plants and all!)
Y'all spot Daniella "the nostril" Westbrook and Denise "I'm still only 31" van Outen? Makes you wonder just how long these nobodies were chasing fame for.
Tell me about it! I was 7 years old, and I still remember first seeing that ad on a black and white TV in England... This was around the time Leslie Crowther's Price Is Right was in its dying days.
I still have this on VHS (I didn't record an advert! It was on the breaks and it recorded because I was out) It's a nice song, much better than Timerlake's "I'm lovin' it"!
i am 25 and i still haven't "seen the light"...i still like a wee mcdonald every now and then. hate the way they keep changing everything tho! "mcdonald makes your way" was better than "do do do do do...i'm lovin' it" :)
I remember this, i still wrk 4 mccys now but hoping my cattery builds up then ill quit mccys, ur all rite mccys r crap employers, and i dnt like their food much
A visit to Mcdonalds makes your daaaaaaaaaay! Woo. Not strictly true, but it always fooled me when I was a kid. They should never have ditched that catchphrase...
So in England do they order a big mac and large...chips?

This was the 1980s.
40 second cut down version of the main "makes your day" ad.

There's definitely a paedophillic undertone to this ad. A dozen schoolgirls flirting with a grown man. WTF?
AdmiralBirdseye 2 years ago
Not really.
There was a time, not so long ago, when a grown man could talk to a young girl without being accused of being a pervert by wierdo's like you.
Not everyone thinks of sex when they see a schoolgirl.......have you considered getting psychiatric help?

I hate the new style of decor. It looses the tackiness that we all like.

I used to sing that jingle as a child. It's hard to believe that such a crummy advert had an impact on a small child. They well got inside my head.
