  • if only saturday morning tv could be this good again!! I like how Mike masks Bobby, a sign of things to come!! lol

  • I do this all my life...but I remain haunted..and i am already 37

  • This was probably cutting edge technology at the time, but looks so naff and dated now lol! Top tune though! Earlier Keith had announced I'd Like To Say I Love You as their new single, which must have been confusing, even though it would have been and should have been a great single too!

  • The only vid I thought there was of this was the one set in a stately home!! OMGosh hearing this just transported me back to being 12 again and having the biggest crush in Mike(still do :)

thx for the vid x x

  • gosh, i remember watching this first time around!

  • I remeber seeing this. Great way to mix them wasn't it.

  • I don`t believe the flight was cancelled!!!!!

  • Its quite funny isnt it and is it camera trick??

  • I remember this being two separate performances too, and I'm sure it was the first time it had ever been attempted. How they manaaged to overcome the satellite delay, I don't know.

Cheryl Baker looks more like a market stall trader than a pop star!

Jay was as brilliant as ever!

  • Cheryl was always the sexiest, sweetest and hottest. Some people have no taste.

  • Iagree Cheryl was the best. Jay was too much like a tart. Cheryl had more class

  • I'm not alone then

  • Cheryl looks very attractive in this video but Jay was always the star of the group.the Hand Cut album is awesome in fact they all are.

  • note to record company execs: book seats for all the band on the same flight!

  • Cheryl was so attractive. I love her.

  • THEE BEST BUCKS FIZZ PERFORMANCE I HAVE SEEN -and I am a devoted fan...this is super brill...my God I love it!!! THANK YOU

  • and the recording dosen't even exist in the BBC archives according to the recent show It Started with Swap Shop where they showed a clip of the preformance.

  • Thats true. I'm not a big BF fan but I see the fans have many Pebble Mill at One appearances, which is just as well as the BBC have faff all of the show in the archive.

  • "Bobby & Cheryl in jersey, and jay & Mike in london because their flight was cancelled due to bad fog, the BBC spliced mike & jay next to Bobby & Cheryl, this was clever stuff for 1983, the first time it was ever done on a live tv programme"

...Yeah right...do you really believe that? lol!

  • Eh?

That is actually what happened!! Saturday Superstore had a weekly outside broadcast where bands would play live.

The week they went to Jersey there was bad fog and half of Bucks Fizz got stranded in the studio London. The BBC decided to splice both both halves of the group together using blue screen.

It really was the first time something like that had been attempted on a live a TV show, not least sinchronising the two performances to overcome the satellite delay.

  • I think what KenfromDublin might be hinting at is that the two halfs had fallen out before they were due on the plane. It does look odd that Bobby and Cheryl made it and Jay and Mike some how didn't. I would believe it more if it had been Bobby and Jay that made it, or Cheryl and Mike..........

  • Sounds about right, certainly can't remember it being done since (although these days with digital and satellite OB links the delays might cause problems)
