@57NINJABOY It’s because of the way the car is designed. When going backwards at speeds over 150mph the rear of the car acts like a parachute and creates lift. Thus making the car fly upward and soon after it comes back down. It lands at a certain angle, So There isn’t enough ‘car to surface contact’ to make create enough friction to stop the moving car. That’s why you see it roll and spin a lot. The only thing that brings the car to a stop is the air resistance and the friction.
Amazing how people say NASCAR is so easy yet many open wheel drivers like Montoya and Francitti couldn't find any success. Only Tony Stewart has managed to win regularly.

For all u nascar haters heres some info 1. When a driver takes s turn he/she will feel more g-force than a astronaut going into space. 2. Drivers go to a gym and work out so that their bodies can handle 200 degree temp and extreme g-force 3. When a driver is at full speed which is about 200 to 205 mph with 43 other cars around them 1 mistake will fuck up everyones race 4. A driver has to up shift and down shift plus talking to his crew spotter and other drivers know his line know what to do next

I don't know why Nascar is considered a sport. A sport should require use of physical abilities. Anyone who knows how to drive, can drive a car at 225 mph. How is driving around a track a sport? No movement, no body training, nothing to do with using the human body at its full potential. Sports require athletic endeavors.

I used to race go karts, you know the ones that go 60 mph in like 12 lap races around a quarter mile track, races would last minutes and you can still feel sore after some of them. These guys race for hours on end, going sometimes over 200 mph. Think of the forces on your body while passing and going around turns etc. It takes incredible athleticism, you should try it sometime.

Also a stock car takes a hell of a lot of handling compared to a lightweight open wheeler. Danica Patrick has been increasing her fitness levels to cope with this as she's of small build. @eddieg10000 Haha, don't you even understand my comment? Are you born in the 1990s or something? Nowadays, F1 ONLY have 700+HP and are so high tech which could save the driver lives. Heard of any fatalities? Yes, a only a few. Now, think backwards. In the 1980s, F1 had lack of downforce, safety equipment. 1200+HP 1.5L V6 with a huge turbo. They managed to do 200mph in Monaco, sometimes wet. Remember how Aryton Senna because of just a steering failure?

@Globus601 Cheap oval? COTs, NASCAR tracks, and everything else to do with NASCAR is more expensive than WRC. Ovals can cost as much as 79 million just to re-configure while WRC trails are typically just optimized backroads.

On top of driving at a high rate of speed u also have to worry about sunlight during a day race bc driving 200+ mph into direct sunlight impacts ur vision u can also add that u need to know when to slow down and speed up and what pit road speed is and where ur pit box is as well. 5. For all u nascar haters heres some info 1. When a driver takes s turn he/she will feel more g-force than a astronaut going into space. 2. Drivers go to a gym and work out so that their bodies can handle 200 degree temp and extreme g-force 3. When a driver is at full speed which is about 200 to 205 mph with 43 other cars around them 1 mistake will fuck up everyones race 4. A driver has to up shift and down shift plus talking to his crew spotter and other drivers know his line know what to do next

I don't know why Nascar is considered a sport. A sport should require use of physical abilities. Anyone who knows how to drive, can drive a car at 225 mph. How is driving around a track a sport? No movement, no body training, nothing to do with using the human body at its full potential. Sports require athletic endeavors.

@San45501 Lol i hope you realize that this sport is one of the most endurance based sports in the world. I used to race go karts, you know the ones that go 60 mph in like 12 lap races around a quarter mile track, races would last minutes and you can still feel sore after some of them. These guys race for hours on end, going sometimes over 200 mph. Think of the forces on your body while passing and going around turns etc. It takes incredible athleticism, you should try it sometime.

Any body movements? Anyone who can drive, and I mean anyone, can drive for hours and anyone can go 200 mph. BUT, can anyone who can run, run a 4.2 40 yard dash? Can anyone who can jump, jump a 42 inch vertical? Can anyone who can throw, throw a 95 mph fastball? No. Sports require you to USE your body.

I want to see you go and drive a car going that fast for hours, i'm 100% sure you could not do it, don't even try to say you can. @soryhotdog Dude, anyone can drive a car going 200 mph. I've driven a car going 180. It was a Porsche 911 Carrera S. I visited a family member in Germany whose friend owned one. You ever heard of the autobahn? I went 180-185 going down that highway. Not for hours but for a while. I was lucky there wasn't a lot of cars around. So yeah everyone is CAPABLE of driving 200mph. It's not a legit sport, no athletic requirement. Give me 3 physical gains of racing.

I've read tons of magazines and books and websites with where I come across athletes of all sports who list their workouts and how one can be successful in a certain sport. Never, in my life have I seen someone from NASCAR talk about what he does in the gym to prepare for a race.

@soryhotdog Again, I agree it's not a sport, but it's very difficult because of the fact that every person on the race track is using a car with the same hp and torque as you, and everyone has the same goal: to win. Going 200 mph with 12 cars all packed into a space the size of a basketball court, without crashing, takes mad skill, intelligent anticipation of moves, minding your drift lanes, etc... To say it's easy makes you look and sound like a fucking
