  • Hey does anyone know if beginning programming with java for dummies 2nd edition is still up to date enough to learn java or if its obsolete?

  • this is definately going to help me with my class.. =D

  • put a lot of importance on the break; part lol i started watching this and paused it as soon as i saw code and went to do a home test on on program and got stuck on it for a long time becouse i forgot the break; lawl after finishing the program 2 and a half hours later i come back to finish watching the video

  • ?can i ask something

can we make "switch"accept string like +or what

    thx

  • @1991bosbos Actually the latest java, java SE 7 allows strings to be used in a switch statement. Enums can also be used in a switch

  • you took your time but the vids are

    good

  • Thank you for the informative tutorials. Can you adjust your volume louder? I am having a hard time hearing your presentations.

  • Thanks for the tutorial videos...all of them are very easy to understand. Will you please take place of being a new instructor for our Java programming class? You're tutorials are pretty great and top notch!

  • Thankyou for your contribution towards the learning Java.

  • Love that people make tutorials like these.

I'm reading a Java book right now and will be reading one more after that.

But by also watching tutorials I'm sure I will understand everything better

  • Thank you SO much. I'm taking a Java class and the teacher skips explanations of all parts of the syntax. You break it down to each element and show what you mean with your highlighting. That is SO important to those of us who are visual learners. I'm glad you offer these for free as a service to those of us who are struggling to figure this out. Excellent job!!! You have WAY more patience than most programmers I know!

  • Very nice.....

This tutorial is very easy to understand and we can learn some java basics pretty quickly than reading tons of pages from a Java book.....

it will be better to go through these tutorials first, then read a nice Java book.....

Thanks dude....you are a very good tutor...

I wish i knew of these youtube videos much earlier...

Once again thank for your awesome job....

And your score is '5' (awesome - taken from your own example).

  • I have a question. What if I wanted one of the cases to be between two values. For example: int x=90 and I want it to print "A+" if x is between 85 and 100. Is that possible using Switch Statements? Thanks to anyone who replies.

  • switch is used if u have a specific values to compare against ; otherwise, use if and else ...good luck !

  • great very useful. had to learn about cases before im able to go anywhere. thanks

  • Excellent supplement to my current studies, keep it up.

  • can you make a program that will make a MENU..

that will ask the user to choose what they want to process..

Example of an output: ----- MENU -----

    [1] grade computation

    [2] conversion of ordinal numbers

    [3] personal information

    [4] EXIT..

  • I am loving you videos! You have taught me more than my programing teacher at school! I really like the project idea, it sounds like a good next step after the basics. Keep the videos coming!

  • Great! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your tutorials! The idea of doing something on arrays is cool. It would be nice if you cover vectors, too.

  • When are you coming out with the new tutorials?

  • Very good! Do you have tutorials on Arrays?

  • Nice job on the videos, when are you going to release a new one?

  • Bring on the tutorials ;)). Are you in the programming industry?

  • Thanks a lot for these tutorials, I posted a comment about a problem I was having on your second video, but I figuired you'd be more likely to check this video's comments since it is your newest one. Anywase, the problem I was having is I can't change the file extension of my notepad txt file, I typed in HelloWorld.java and everything but nothing happens if you could help that would be great. Thanks.

  • Have you definitely adjusted the 'save as type' to be 'all files' ?

  • thx agian mate =)
