  • BEA RIP!

  • The biggest mistake Lucas ever made was allowing CBS to use his characters and universe. The second biggest was the three prequels. Third biggest is Greebo shooting first. Yes, The SWHS really is that bad.

  • Comedy is still there. :) I just miss their silhouettes at the bottom of the screen! Its not the same without seeing the bots and Mike... :(

  • "Finish your Slurm!" Best fucking riff ever.

  • This special existed for one reason, so kids could sit though this torture just to see the Kenner segment advertising all the new star wars toys. After seeing that Trailtracker commercial, Kenner needed the Star Wars licensing deal BAD.

  • LMFAO "finish your Slurm." (futurama)

  • This is the funniest Riff Trax IMO.

  • The Star Wars Holiday Special was so horrible I couldn't bear to finish it.

  • Good lord..........

  • I can't enjoy any satire of the SW: HS. It's such a wretched abomination that any amount of humour is overshadowed by the sheer horror of watching it.

  • oh god, i watched this on livestream with some guys, such hilarity has never been had

  • I'm so glad I wasn't born yet.

  • Finish your slurm.

  • You know after seeing this rifftrax a few times this scene probably is one of the most survivable. I mean everything with those adoring wookies can't be called bad right? [Sarcasm Alarm] Hush you!

This bar scene was at least an part of the movie you could rest for a little moment. Right before you returned back to the lovely family scene

  • Well she fits in. Bea Arthur sorta looks like an alien.

  • Tork, Dolenze, Nesmith, haha, love the Monkees reference.

  • the star wars christmas special makes the prequels look good. unbearably horrible. the only part worth watching is when carrie fischer, coked out of her mind, sings a song

  • @nhaberbrook To the Star Wars theme, she ha to be coked out of her mind. They played the music and the director thought, she is not supposed to sing to this...ah fuck it.

  • HOLY CRAP!!!O.O

How did they ever get their hands on this?!?

...even better, how do they expect us to watch it with the commentary???

  • A little place called G.O.O.G.L.E. V.I.D.E.O.

  • OH!

  • The one there even has the commercials (or so I've heard), and they even riffed on those.

    "Fighting the frizzies, at eleven."

  • @Jangobadass wanna buy the whole show? go to revok dot com..

  • "finish your slurm!"

  • Bea Arthur was too good for this crap! You were the best!! RIP..

  • RIP, Bea.

  • maude passed

  • "Eh, kiss my head crack."

  • they want a chickenwire fence to protect from what the people throw at them XD LOL.

  • Chicken wire?

    (The Blues Brothers)

  • I was six when this was broadcast. I loved Christmas and Star Wars as any proper six-year-old should. Yet I have NO MEMORY of this! I wonder why?

  • Maybe you saw it, and the experience was so painful you blocked it out of your memory.

  • And the comment on the side dosn't deserve reading, so asking the redundant question is clearly the answer.

  • I agree. Why can't they just upload their riff for this show in the entirety?

  • use google video.

  • Clearly, you don't "get" it.

  • I still think this is the best Rifftrax.

  • I understand the holiday special but Superman the Movie being the equivalent of hell???

  • I never saw this before, and now I NEVER WILL

  • I consider myself an immensely devoted "Star Wars" fan (although not on the level of most fanatics) and I haven't once been able to sit through the abomination that is the "Star Wars Holiday Special" in its entirety. Trust me, a five minute "highlight" reel is MORE than enough!

I believe the first TEN MINUTES or so is just Chewbacca's family growling and barking at each other!

  • And now that I think about it... Star Wars Holiday Special... Superman the Movie.... hmmm, Rifftrax was right, 1978 was the equivalent of hell!

  • Party's over, THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND!

  • This is one RiffTrax I will NOT be buying. This show was so horrible that I could barely stand to watch this small portion of it, and even the riffing didn't help. This is truly the most wretched thing ever inflicted upon an unsuspecting public, beating out even "Plan Nine From Outer Space."

  • I think they did a good job with it. Besides, the special is close to being "so bad it's good." Close but not quite.

  • Oh, the riffing is good, but even Mike & Co. can't make the show more watchable! XD Bea Arthur?? What the HELL was Lucas thinking?? On the other hand, it might be worth it to see the commercials from 1978. I bet those are a riot!

  • ElveeKaye, from what I've read, Lucas had little-to-no say in who was cast or even what the story was about. If his royal highness wanted to gain back some credibility with his fan base (not for this as much as for the prequels) and show that he actually has a sense of humor about himself and his beloved Star Wars franchise he would officially release this and let Mike and the gang do the commentary. Can I get an amen?

  • The Star Wars Christmas special is so wretched.. even Lucas.. who makes merchandise off of every aspect of starwars.. refuses to release this and acknowledge it ever existed. (Altho I think theres an animated boba fett figure now, based on his appearance in this piece of crap)

  • I showed this clip to my dad and he was like, "no...that never happened. NOOOOO!"

  • ..and if that doesnt work ill get naked!! lol!!

  • I've heard of this in an old children's magazine I subscribed to as a kid. I also heard that it's virtually impossible to find, since it was so terrible.

  • it's on youtube...

  • > I've heard of this in an old children's

    > magazine I subscribed to as a kid. I also

    > heard that it's virtually impossible to

    > find, since it was so terrible.

I was 7 years old when this was on the air, and I still remember how absolutely crushed I was after seeing it. Awful doesn't begin to describe it, when a 7 year old can't stand it.

I still remember being very upset when the storm trooper ripped the head off a stuffed toy.

  • I like the secret message in the description.

  • "But we're contracted to play our one song forever!"

I instantly thought of the one scene from the Family Guy Star Wars when they said that.

  • yeah family guy steals everything.

  • The "Family Guy" episode came out in September. RiffTrax released their commentary three months later. Nobody "stole" anything.

  • Not this time, at least. I can't tell you how many times I hear kids say "hey, that's a reference to Family Guy!" when it's actually something that's been around for years.

  • @Unclephart I remember this one time I was watching the an old Doctor Who intro from theTom Baker era and I suddenly noticed someone commenting that it was a reference to Family Guy. The people who make these kinds of comments don't even realize what the word "reference" means.

  • @Popcultureguy3000 YAY for Doctor Who and Tom Baker BOOO for ignorant fool's.

  • the original mst3k's were the best, and always will b =)

  • oh, kiss my head crack! lol!

  • I love how the scarf covers Bea Arthur's Adam's apple...

  • Sweet Jebus, Mike and company got brass ones to stomach watching this enough times to make commentary. *applauds*

  • What are Bea Arthur and Diahann Carroll (not in this part) even doing in this movie in the first place?

  • Thank God for Rifftrax! I remember watching this in 1978 when I was 11. It was scarry then and it's scarry now!

I love Mike, Kevin and Bill!!!! Woooot!!!!

  • Is there an age restriction on it, kid?!

  • Whatever, crazy!

    [/The Monarch]

  • It was a Venture Bros. reference, bubba.

  • You're 26, American, and you don't know what The Venture Bros. is?

Dude, c'mon man. Get with it. "Old person's show"? Completely clueless.

  • I, too, JUST heard about this on TV... I immediately scurried off to look for it. And boy am I glad I did!

  • just heard about this on tv...lol

I think i seen something like this many many years ago in a city fare fare away.

  • and then theres maude

  • Omigod! Lucas would you kill for this! I watched the whole thing last year without rifftrax - oh, the horror! oh, the pain! Thank god you didn't put Bea singing in this segment!

  • What, the other Monkees are good enough for you, but no Davey Jones reference? Blasphemy.

  • Finish your Slurm indeed!

  • I remember hearing once that the MST3K guys tried to do the SWHS privately years ago for some friends--and not even THEY could make it funny. Probably not true, since this was hysterical.

  • Oh dear lord, it's worse then I'd imagined, which can only mean it's RiffTrax is better then imagined too!

  • Hahaha Kiss my Head crack lol

  • "The human is begging, I almost pity him!"

  • Star wars is so damn good !

if you too cant get enough of it then take a look in my profile to see our star wars movie :)

  • Too bad the guys can't get the rights to this dungheap and release it on dvd..As bad as this "holiday special" is,it deserves every riff, wisecrack been thrown at it by Mike and the rest.

  • Yup. :-)

  • Today Star Wars Holiday Special, tomorrow I want to see "Dünyayi kurtaran Adam" aka Turkish Star Wars riffed!

  • Oh kiss my head crack.

  • Futurama reference!

  • Before you get Greedoed

  • Seeing this somehow makes the existence of the prequels make sense....the fact that George Lucas created something this bad maybe was supposed to serve as an early warning for those of us who were so eager to see TPM.

Oh, and Maude was in this?!

  • Lucas can't be entirely blamed for this atrocity, as his involvement with it was limited. It was mostly conceived by a bunch of CBS employees who developed variety shows. The animated segments were actually produced by Nelvana. Even Lucas has disowned this mess.

  • Pat Proft and Bruce Vilanch were among the writers. Explains a lot, doesn't it?

  • Yeah, it does; that waste of flesh was a fixture on the resuscitated Hollywood Squares.

  • @rqbuchanan However, as the Star Wars franchise is his ultimate creation, he should have had the authority to veto it's final draft and do some major overhauling to at least make the thing watchable. Wtf, I mean the first quarter of the whole thing is only in Wookese! No subtitles or humans to interpret it for us! Not only that, but Fischer was obviously on a coke binge during it and what about Itchies frigging porn? Nice kids special there!

  • @rqbuchanan I would be ashamed even thinking about it if I was him. Whether I was involved or not, to think that my fictional universe would be raped like this is scarring.

  • @wayne388 If nothing else, I can only presume that Lucas felt cheated. After all, he wouldn't sexually assault his own franchise with a profusion of ill-conceived characters and asinine creative decisions for another two decades, yet an assemblage of knuckle-draggers who crafted variety shows by outmoded formula arrived to soil his brainchild in advance.

  • No commercial release? Heck you probably got this from another dimension. Because we all know that in LucasLand, this doesn't exist. (like how the Star Wars Trilogy started in 1997, not 1977)

  • The Star Wars Holiday Special gets some MST3K treatment at last! You guys are awesome!

  • To tell you the truth, I'm too lazy to go search for a copy. I'll wait for the next one.

  • Oh sweet as a nut!

With the combination of Lucas' inbred retarded child being unlocked from it's dungeon, together with Killer Riffs from Mike, Bill and Kev, this could be the catalist for the fall of the Evil Empire!

  • I dunno, I mean, the video is already ridiculous enough-- I wonder if it really needs the fella's help?

  • Oh, Man...I have to find a way to get a copy of this.

  • Google Video

  • Slurm! LOL

  • It's highly addictive!

  • Futurama Rocks!

  • Oh kiss my head crack!

  • 'the party is over, thank you for being a friend!'

    great stuff!

  • Lmao! Awesome.

    I'm too young for this...but I'll defintely Google for a copy. ;)
