Smart idea, but the back on my watch is too tight for this to work (at least with my crappy scissors). Fortunately, you can find a case wrench on Amazon for under six bucks.
I really apreciate you for posting this vid..I try twizzer, prying it open using knife, twist it using hands, try to open using pliers, smashing with a hammer, and guess what, a pair of scissors from my mom kitchen really do the trick..
Who ever say this doesnt work is a damn lie, I JUST opened mine after watching this video and struggling for almost 3hr prior(never thought of scissors ) good video THX
worked for me on a D&G watch. i put 2 layers of cellotape on the back so when the scissors slipped it didnt scratch the back, and that was successful :) ....now, i need a dam battery -.-
Thanks! I used this technique to open my vintage Seiko. Worked great! Make sure you do it slowly and safely. Do not use needle nose pliers to do this. DO NOT USE PLIERS.
No. As long as you can fit the scissors blades into the slots and maintain them in there while turning it should be fine. Maybe the retainer ring on your watch is super tight. Good luck!
@ichris2011 Thanks so much! Worked like a charm. I used big scissors and pushed firmly into the watch while slowly rotating the watch instead of trying to rotate the scissors..
Easier and safer: Go to any store with pet supplies. Buy any rubber doggie chew toy that has a rubbery, slightly sticky surface. Hold watch in one hand, chew toy in the other. Compress together, twist. Voila. Most people use an inflatable bouncy ball about 3 inches in diameter. You can buy special ones from switzerland, but you don't have to.
Right, so I just spent alot of time trying to get mine open.
It's best to not do it yourself, you'll end up scratching the watch and it might not be water resistant anymore.
If however, you are stubborn, or just very cheap you can do it yourself. Here's what I did and it worked: take a small piece of strong wood. Measure the length between the "holes" in the back of the watch. Now put small nails in the wood, at least 3 preferably all 6 and use the wood with the nails to open the watch.
Thank you for this video. I have a diving Citizen watch that has this same back and I opened it with my sciccors like you did in the video and saved $35! Great vid. Thanks again!!!!
they make a tool for this available on the net... 5.95 shipping included...takes the chance of accidentally scratching the back if it's a very expensive watch.
This method works regardless of if you're a professional or an amateur. So here's my idea: shut the fuck up.
By the way, your Archimede Pilot watch is too big for your puny wrist. It's a nice watch though. So why don't you go exercise some instead of writing nonsense here?
@MrRighteousJudge Why don't yu just shut the fuck up arsehole. This video is very helpfull. I had a watch which I couldn't open cuz it was stuck and this video gave me an idea. He is just trying to help ya
I did that to my Grand Dad's watch when I was 10. I ended up breaking the movement after I successfully opened it.
So unless you know what you're doing, don't open a watch.

This is a good way to screw up a watch. Spend the money and buy a caseback opener.

Doesn't work for me. I'm using plastic scissors with metal blades. Do the scissors have to be all metal?
