Personally I think the so-called UFOs that people are seeing is Freudian in nature. Mankind thinks so much about sex that they actually viewing (in their minds) phallic and vaginal type imagery in the skies. In ancient India, these same types of imagery were witnessed by shamans and became the very symbols of the god Shiva (the lingam and yoni). Sex on the celestial level incorporates the universe and down to a superficial level that only mankind can understand through symbolism and imagery.
great show. loved it when i was a kid. my friend tony was so inspired by it, he became an engineer and worked at NASA for a time. this brings back some memories. thanks for posting.
@coolyjojo Ha, interesting. I came here looking for the theme song in particular, which is what I remember the most about the show. To each his own I guess!
@WorkingLeo Oh man me too! Its not as bold as I remember it but i definately had the melody down! Can't believe I remember it. How about "Darkroom" hosted by James Coburn, decent show on TV around this time. Kind of a rip-off of "Tales From The darkside" Hey come on over tonight, we can watch "Thats Incredible" reruns!
Man I always remembered a show about two Air Force guys investigating Blue Book UFO incidents from my childhood. But could never remember the name of it. Thank god for youtube and the ability to find the obscure on here.
it was the sunday night lineup before it was off to bed for school the next day. definitely more than one nightmare brought about by project bluebook.
I really loved this series as a youngster. Now I realise that Chris Carter credits Kolchak the Night Stalker as his inspiration for The X-Files, I feel there are more similarities to This series. Project UFO shares another distinction with Kolchak the Night Stalker, Both were very good- well put together series, however very underrated, Both lasting only one season on the air, sadly. Mike in Fresno, CA.
It's ironic that Jack Webb chose 14 July as the date of events in this pilot episode of the series. Because 714 was his LAPD Badge number on Dragnet. But, It is a neat coincidence that it's your birthday> Mike in Fresno, Ca.
I know that Jack Webb is the producer of the series Project UFO, but can anyone tell me what production company had rights to the series? I keep believing it was Universal, since Dragnet, Adam12, and Emergency were, and I keep waiting for someone to produce high-quality DVD's of this series. I hope Universal will get off the dime, and cut loose with the rest of these series that Jack Webb made. All his stuff was #1 in my book. Mike in Fresno.
You can't mistake "Dragnet"'s Jack Webb as the narrator in this series and who also served as the executive producer as well. I remember this show and even as a kid I couldn't help but be interested in it. I remember Ed Winter who played 'Col. Flagg' on M*A*S*H was in this series.
I watched this series back in the 70's when I was a kid.. It was cool. My favorite episode is whan the Project UFO visited the Palm Springs Tramway in one episode.. I am from Palm Springs & it was always cool when the film stuff there. Plus I liked this show... Thank you for posting this... Have a great 2008 summer & keep watching for those lights in the sky! David
Sometimes you CAN judge a book by its cover. I hate the way the narrator keeps ranting on when all you want to do is watch the programme.Did the show's producers think that the viewers are so stupid as to need oral guidance? How patronising.I know that you shouldn't compare the 70s with the 2000s,but I will:this silly juvenile show has got nothing on Mark Harmon's NCIS,which is a superb show, with a superb actor,my fellow countryman David McCallum.
Yes, you limeys are full of national pride, enough to make people sick. I don't usually use the racist word, but I've seen enough posts by you limeys to conclude that you're fairly racist toward people across the pond. As far as NCIS goes, I'd say Harmon makes the show. If "Ducky" left, who would care? And it's amazing how your opinion is superior to anyone else's.
We've ruled the oceans for hundreds of years & civilised the Africans & the Indians & the South East Asians. We've done nothing wrong,we've in fact contributed to the betterment of Man.We're not exactly racist towards you Yanks, except that we do find you a little uncouth & uncultered. But we do admire FDR for keeping us out of the clutches of the Krauts. And you and us are doing a pretty good job in Iraq/Afghan,wouldn't you say? And Ducky is the lynchpin of the show,if he left, the show'd collapse.
Sorry, Africans will never be civilized. I'm so happy to hear how well you've ruled the world for so long. Europe has a longer history than the Americas, but most of it was spent UNcivilized. Took you blokes a long time. Don't forget who conquered the moon, perfected that machine you're typing on and who is STILL keeping you out of the clutches of the ragheads. If we go down, you better start worrying fast.
.......and unlike the UK and the BBC, the U.S. has no government operated network devoted to Muslim diversity. And when we have more people exiting the country than those that are risking life and limb to enter the country, we'll concede.
Damn straight. There seems to be a flood of Brits and Aussies coming into the U.S. It makes you wonder what they're running from since the EU is such a superior place to be. The mexicans just want a job, but the others must be looking for more culture.
I don't want to be responsible for the deterioration of the "special relationship" that was fostered by FDR and Churchill & which still endures to this day.Our relationship is akin to a marriage:we might love our spouses deep down inside, but there're moments when we find them downright repellant. But without them,we'd be lost.Brits think you're grotesquely fat & ill-mannered.But we do need you, militarily & otherwise.BTW,ragheads will never overwhelm us--we've still got 200 submarine-based nukes!
Just where do you get all your ideas, from TV? Or are you surrounded by yanks and know them personally? You maybe knew a couple and they were assholes, so you judge the entire U.S. population by those? The U.S. has 300 million people, so don't you figure there are some fat ones? Is your fat % any better? I doubt it. And those nukes are totally ineffective against the muzzies that have infiltrated UK society. If everyone goes by first impressions, it would be easy to find you repellant also.
Well, yes I knew a couple of Yanks(exchange students from Brown University in your country)who lived on the same floor in my university hall of residence,& they were loud & uncouth & we're happy 2 see the back of them at the end of the term.I suspect one of them was a kleptomaniac who habitually stole my Corn Flakes & milk from the kitchen.Admittedly, neither's fat. Also,I agree that nukes are ineffective against a suicidal raghead.& copyrightenforcement,I simply admire a great 20th century icon.
So what? We're all going to die someday, whether we're ragheads, limeys, kikes or any other name that people like to name each other...We will also be colored afterwards and then wormfood. can't wait...
Can't wait? Are you a sicko? I mean, your comment is pretty disturbing. Maybe you've seen too many horror movies. Oh, speaking of, I think you should watch Amityville III, cause Tony Roberts form Project Blue Book stars in it,together with a very young Meg Ryan (with those horribly exposed gums!)
OMG,all you Youtubers out there,I strongly suggest you visit smartkart's profile. You'll find titles like "Demon Baby" and "World's Ugliest Women." In fact, almost his entire portfolio consists of things "ugly." I was somewhat taken aback (or as a Yank might say,"freaked out") by this Canuck's choice of videos.Hmm,you never know who's out there in cyberspace,do you? Freddy Krueger lives on!
