They"re religeon kept their hair in dredlocks. They didn't cut their hair. He had simple cancer in toe but would not let them amputate because of his religeon it got to far and he died of cancer. This was his last concert.

@zcs96 i have read bob was 5 foot 4 inches tall..i was at bob's 1978 kaya tour show at the stanley theatre and i knew he was a small man but on the stage it seemed like he was 10 feet tall and i thought also how long his fingers were..and you can see that in the david burnett photo's and david burnett even makes comment about bob's hands
