I have like 10 years watching movies like a yonkie, and this one for me is the best, the soundtrack, the best everything, is a visual orgasm, like it more with the happy ending.
[sorry the english. Please help me find out that movie!!] a movie of androids in the desert, that has some american soldiers, and there's a cyborg between them, and it kills a human calling him a cyborg because he kept repeating the same words. I remember the sands of the desert with some kind of robots with blades that cuts any who dare trepass the desert.
Sean Young looked great being vague. Now we know this is her natural state. Parents in the movie and T.V industry which helped her for awhile until her looks wilted with the alcohol and her obnoxious personality pissed directors off so much she was persona non grata. Nepotism, height and good looks lost, for once, to lack of talent. She blew it!!
DEFINITELY ONE OF THE SCIENCE FICTION TRASH THAT CAME OUT IN THE 80's. ONLY VIEWERS WITH POOR TASTE & OTHER IDIOTS WILL GIVE THIS MOVIE A POSITIVE REVIEW.
@omglolroflman you should be the one shutting up. A classic? Duh! You're so ignorant. Scanners, Terminator, Pitch Black are good examples of classic sci fi movies. They're repeated & emulated by subsequent science fiction films. This isn't true of Blade Runner because its so shallow & boring! Its not for a paid & tendentious film critic to decide which/what is a classic sci fi movie. Its for the audience & time to decide.
Blade Runner is set in a future world in the midst of an urban megalopolis, and yet, one can easily feel the solitary peace and vastness of the universe.
I'd love to lose myself in such a setting.
I'm sure many have desired for a world where everyone and everything exists only to set stage where they are the most supreme and everyone else is nothing more than a supporting backdrop.
@ssjcloud why, there's never been any expectation or any notion of flying cars. just because they exist in a movie doesn't mean they will in the real world. besides out technology is more advanced then alot of things in bladerunner. they may be built at some point ie very advanced models in line with today's tech. unlike the cars in this movie.
This movie stands the test of time. So if Deckard is a replicant, as the director's cut implies with the hallucination, then that could be a sign of a conspiracy. Possible grounds for a sequel!
I don't remember ever seeing this. I notice it came out the same year as Tron. Is it any good? I'm guessing it's not that good since I've never heard of it.
@mastodon77 I'm not being sarcastic. I never heard of this. I thought it was that Arnold Schwarzenegger movie where he wore some neckbrace that would blow his head off. Like a prison escape or something, I don't remember. But that's not this movie.
@Dreamlgider Nope, I was talking about The Running Man. I remember trying to find the movie Wedlock a long time ago and I had trouble. I was looking for "Dead Lock" actually. Come to find out, for some reason, Deadlock changed its name to Wedlock. Not sure why... But Wedlock's a good movie too.
@MrRealityCheck88 I think is 1 of the most overrated movies in history,is kind of slow sci-fi drama,I actually like a lot of movies that are slows but this one was not that good,is not that bad either ,the cinematography and acting was good but the story just got too slow, you can check it out if you want...............
@DwightKoh93 some video about aliens i think if i remember right the reason they havent been used is because you will need a pilot license to use them
The slickest line in the film is when Tyrell says, "I want to see a negative before I provide you with a positive"...I guess its just the way he says it. Awesome film alltogether. And Vangelis makes it all the more beautiful.
@TheRandomSweed The reason why Blade Runner flopped was because E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, which came out at the same month Blade Runner was shown. E.T. dominated the box office by making over 700 million at the box office while Blade Runner only made like 30 million. I guess the audience found E.T. more fascinating and more fun than Blade Runner.
i dont know i had mixed feelings through out the movie, the ending to me was pretty cheep, but the visuals are amazing, but again visuals are not everything just look at last airbender or avatar, the actingwas fine, but i dunno im in the middle i liked it and didnt like it, nothing was realy cleared up is he ir isnt he a Blade runner?

@folladordeprostis No they're different. Cult movies are films that have acquired a highly devoted but specific group of fans and generally fail to achieve fame outside of their fanbase. While classic movies are often movies made between 1910 - 1960 during the Hollywood Studio System. This explanation is just a quick Google search though I know they're different =D
Yeah, knew it was Paull as soon as I heard his voice. Close to Ford's though, enough for the trailer. Absence of Vangelis makes all the difference. Thank goodness Van did it in the end.
The best Sci-fi movie ever made, based on the best sci-fi novel (except perhaps for Dune) ever written "Do androids dream of electric sheep" by Philip K Dick, and the best thing is that when he was shown preview footage of this film's world he remarked that that was exactly how he envisioned it. But again, it's nice to see a trailer that doesn't either give it all away in the viewing or make me yawn and want to run......
@PurpleMoonYef Yes the Matrix was heavily influenced by the 1995 Ghost in the Shell film
The story for Blade Runer is based on Phillip K. Dick's 1968 novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" but I do think that the visual style of the film may have ben inspired by cyberpunk manga or anime
@PurpleMoonYef According to Wikipedia, Akira (the manga) was released between the December of 1982 and 1990. The anime was released in 1988. Blade Runner was released in the June of 1982. And Wikipedia NEVER lies.
@mzhivago925 i don't think wikipedia never lies, but not about these things, i guess you are right, i am dead sure that the movie was inspired from steampunk, so i looked and tried to rely it to any major steampunk works of art, but i guess i was wrong.
How far ahead of his time was Philip K. Dick?! His other books such as Minority Report, Total Recall, Paycheck, The Adjustment Bureau, Next, A Scanner Darkly, Valis, The Man in the High Castle, Flow my Tears the Policeman said, have either been made into movies or have won high awards. They were written so long ago, yet influenced the flow off science fiction today and only now with CG are they able to do justice to his ideas, yet they are STILL ahead of their time! Wish he were alive today!!!
@city78 I agree totally. The best movies rely on story not CGI. Back then when they didn't have modern technology to cover for their lack of creative story line talent, this book and its creative genious movie maker were so far ahead of their time. Nowdays it seems like there are about 12 life themes that get recycled over and over in upgraded backgrounds. I just keep seeing the same stories in movies over and over. Where are the original thinkers anymore?
I actually fell asleep watching this hahaha and i wz listerning through headphones aswell, and it wz the middle of the day hahahaha zzzzzzzz a real chore 2 watch.
This movie has terriffic colour and cinematography but seeing this shitty desaturated trailer coupled with the fact that it's a noir kind of makes me want to see it in black and white.

@PurpleMoonYef the manga was before you were even born so yeah.
PurpleMoonYef 6 months ago
@PurpleMoonYef The Ghost in Shell manga came out in 1989...this movie came in 1982
Gray86Fox 6 months ago
@Gray86Fox i guess this one is the one for Akira who came in 1980, ghost in the shell was the one for matrix, my bad.
PurpleMoonYef 6 months ago
@PurpleMoonYef Yes the Matrix was heavily influenced by the 1995 Ghost in the Shell film
The story for Blade Runer is based on Phillip K. Dick's 1968 novel "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" but I do think that the visual style of the film may have ben inspired by cyberpunk manga or anime

@Gray86Fox Right! you sir deserve ONE internets, anyway i didn't know this so thanks.

@PurpleMoonYef According to Wikipedia, Akira (the manga) was released between the December of 1982 and 1990. The anime was released in 1988. Blade Runner was released in the June of 1982. And Wikipedia NEVER lies.
mzhivago925 6 months ago

@jerramy may id like add that blade runner was originally made with out CGI thats why it has such a big impact
im a big fan PKD and alway will be
city78 3 months ago
@city78 I agree totally. The best movies rely on story not CGI. Back then when they didn't have modern technology to cover for their lack of creative story line talent, this book and its creative genious movie maker were so far ahead of their time. Nowdays it seems like there are about 12 life themes that get recycled over and over in upgraded backgrounds. I just keep seeing the same stories in movies over and over. Where are the original thinkers anymore?

This movie has terriffic colour and cinematography but seeing this shitty desaturated trailer coupled with the fact that it's a noir kind of makes me want to see it in black and white.
