  • Im an NCAA catcher, and by now we should know, that if you stand that far up the line, you can, and will get plowed. The kid was starting to slide, we would've be sliding in cleanly if the catcher wasn't 5 or 6 up the third base line, thus, making it the catchers fault. It's not uncommon for catchers legs to get taken out at the plate, this one just happens to be a little bitch about it.

  • All of you are fuckin retarted, it's as simple as this. If you run into the catcher intentionally, even if you get a little hit, you're most likely gonna get ejected because all umpires are bitches and don't tolerate shit. And the guy talkin is a fuckin redneck prick you prob don't even know wtf happened you monk

  • the catcher was 5 feet from the plate and the kid was starting to slide... all the catchers fault. damn baby

  • Well that happened to me in softball they didn't take the big girl out i sucked it up and went on

  • "yeah you feel good, takin a kid out?????? Learn how to play Baiyuseball Maine!!!!!"

  • that happene to me and im 14

  • I remeber the coach on the other team got ejected at my game

  • Can't block the plate, In your own words learn how to play baseball. Did that make you feel good yelling like an idiot.

  • The catcher initially gave the runner a lane. But began to block the plate as the ball was coming to the plate. The runner made a clean slide. The ump made the bad call. You cant block the plate without the baseball.

  • Where was the runner suppose to go? It's legal to take out the catcher if he is in your way

  • @KJT922010T Not in high school baseball you idiot. Only in MLB rules.

  • @certteam6 Well the rules must be diffrent in Florida because in little league I've had kids take me out at home when I was catching and I have had taken kids out too but that was a long time ago

  • @KJT922010T if the shoulders go down then he or she get out and ejectioed

  • If the catcher was on the base line its legal to take him out..

  • catcher was blocking the plate...coach always told us if their in your way take em out so they wont be next time

  • Haha, the white team is just worse than the red team clearly. They have to have something to bitch at and complain.

  • I was a catcher for 12 years. we get away with so much shit. i had no problems with runners smashing into me considering it was legal for me to physically block the entire plate

  • I LOVE baseball parents.

  • @rhino1239 the ump was right in the minors you have to slide.

  • Horrible call by umpire!!!! Runner has right away the catcher was in the way and got taken out. That's the catcher fault for blocking the plate wrong.. It's high school ball we are taught to take them out u can't complain it's part of the game and for who commented it's illegal in kids baseball this is high school if you can't hang you don't have any business playing

  • It's a takeout slide which is illegal in kids baseball

  • the guy with the camera is a pussy does he not know thats part of baseball

  • no reason for him to get ejected. throw was up the line, kid tried to slide. get over it pussies

  • Well maybe the catcher should get out of the way.

  • the runner ran into the catcher, but the catcher didnt have the ball so the catcher had a good chance to get the ball so therefore the runner is out because of the runners interference

  • @Aseidnitzer huh?

  • maby parents shud calm thier nips nd learn how to play baseball sheesh

  • If the fuckin catcher can't handle getting knocked over then he shouldn't be playing baseball!! It's part of the game.

  • Its funny how the guy says to lear to play baseball the majors do it all the time and its completely legal.

  • @TheWarlordsofGaming Yeah but you aren't allowed to take the catchers out until college.

  • @Surrge213 That's funny people do it all the time in legion baseball

  • Hard nose baseball at it's best. If you block the plate you're either going to get ran over or they're going to try to slide through you!

  • the catcher was in front of the fucking plate

    why did he get ejected!?

  • The base runner did not extend the arms, di dnot lower the shoulder. As a matter of fact, he had begun his slide prior to contact. While it may have looked bad, with the catcher being taken out, there was nothing in this play to make it malicious. The umpire blew the call ejecting this kid.

  • @ILOVEUMPS this falls under unmpire judgement call. an thefore it does not matter if he puts his arms down or not. there a rule that says slide or avoid tag. he did slide but at same time he cause a collison umpire threw him out for it. and he deserve it.

  • Nah, man, that's friggin' bullcrap. You motherlovin' crap...guy!

  • LEARN HOW TAH PLAY BASEBOLE MAYNE!

  • I hate umpires, they think they are more superior to baseball players but ballplayers do way more shit than umpires, im pretty sure anybody could umpire, not be a succesful baseball player so fuck umpires

  • @SnipingPug56 no one can just go umpire nice try and nice effort you wouldn't last a week in umpiring baseball

  • baseball is boring as shit

  • the catcher jumped right in the way of the runner while he was trying to slide, no way this is a dirty play. If I was there that guy runnin his mouth would have got what was coming to him

  • It's not really a matter of whether or not it's legal. It's unsportsmanlike to run over a catcher before they have the ball. You can clearly see that he's standing over the plate, not up the baseline blocking the path to the plate. There was more than enough room to slide under the catcher but he chose to take out the left leg instead. There is a time and a place to run a catcher over. This wasn't one of those times. Some people play with integrity...some don't.

  • hey dumbass, thats part of baseball. shut the fuck up

  • Dude yelling is a little bitch. His kid needs to do soccer or cross country or tennis or some other pussy shit.

  • the guy filming needs to freaking learn how to play it happens all the time and the runner is indeed safe... learn the rules then start yelling retard

  • That's what happens in baseball. The Catcher is gunna think twice before not giving the runner sliding room again.

  • I used to be a catcher, I never got ran over like that, but that is totally LEGAL!!! being in the base path of the runner is a risk you're willing to take to get them out!! runner is SAFE!!!!

  • the catcher blocked the base path!!!!!!! of course he can run him over!!!!!!!!! PERFECTLY LEGAL!

  • he slid so play is legal umpire is a dumbass.

  • @KUZ2011... you need to read the entire rule and not apply just part of what you want it to mean. The rule says the runner must avoid contact "IF THE FIELDER IS ON POSSESSION OF THE BALL" The rule does not say CANNOT MAKE CONTACT... It's says they must "AVOID". These rules are written to mean EXACTLY what they say. Not to be shorten to "FIT" the situation. If you every find yourself saying "WHAT THEY MEAN BY THAT" then most likely you are wrong, because your voicing interpretation!

  • Thats bull.

  • u have to avoid contact in high school baseball

  • guy filming was prolly catchers dad...if so, he should have his son play checkers or something, cuz he was stupid standing in the basepath without the ball

  • Nope, bad call. The runner slide in, that is 100% legal. Catcher is was in the wrong from the start of that whole play.

  • Nope, bad call. The runner slide in, that is 100% legal.

  • The guy yelling in the video should let his kid play ping pong, what a pussy father and a pussy catcher!!!

  • The catcher didn't have the ball. He has no right standing there. I understand if the catcher had the ball and they want to protect kids, then fine, but you shouldn't be allowed to block the bag without consequences.

  • stupid rule. Hit the freaking catcher if he is in the way. I am a catcher and I love it. If I block the plate, I expect you to hit me, but watch out, we can mess you up in the process. :)

  • The guy filming sounds like the catchers dad

  • I agree about the guy in the background needing to be ejected and as far as the play itself the kid should have never been ejected because he never ran over the catcher. All he did was slide toward the plate and the catcher was standing there but he was clearly going into the slide when contact was made there for he made a clean play.

  • A collision at the plate is only an automatic ejection in the instance of malicious contact, which requires overly aggressive movement by the runner with the intent to deliberately contact the fielder, such as lowering the shoulders or extending the arms forwards. In this case, the runner was beginning a perfectly legal slide at the time of the collision. The only reason it was so bad was because of how far up the line the catcher was. The runner should not have been ejected on this play

  • the catcher didn't have the ball when he was hit, it should be interferance and the runner shouldn't be ejected

  • Okay shut the hell up your kid isnt Buster Posey

  • i think both of them are kids? 0:51

  • This is ridiculous, yeah he hit him hard, but he slid and he was in the baseline. It hard to say it (well not after that ass hole went on and on about shit) but the catcher had it coming. No ejection, thats "bull".

  • Clean play i don't c anything wrong

  • @dhogie310 Well runner has to avoid contact in HS baseball... Although it didn't look intentional... It looked like he started to slide, and the throw came in up the base path slightly.. its gonna happen.

  • @MrTapcam - The catcher clearly is in the base path as the baseball arrives at the plate. The runner did in fact slide as he was needed. This was simply a fact of baseball. It happens. The umpire was incorrect in his assement that the runner "took out" the catcher. Slow the video down and pause at the point of contact. The catcher is move towards the runner, the running is already in a sliding position. Everything was legal.

  • @bbgocats yea you basically just repeated what i said lol, but even if the runner is in the base path he still has to avoid contact with a player fielding the ball, but it gets crowed at home plate haha.. So i dont think the umpire was wrong i think its umpire discretion.

  • @bbgocats the more i look at this the more i say no ejection..

  • Looked like a clean play to me. He tried to slide. It was right at the plate. Not out of the line at all. The throw came late, right in the baseline, catcher went for it but it was completely incidental. Not malicious at all. The ump I think was harsh ejecting the runner. Was not even that hard of a slide IMO. Catcher was just airborne and came down hard because of the high throw.

  • There's a very simple solution to all this- don't block the plate!! If you do, you run the risk of getting run over, noone's forcing you to stand there and obstruct the runner. What's the baserunner supposed to do, come to a dead stop and say "excuse me, I'd like to score a run, please stand aside"???

  • @jackmioff100 haha, ya, risk-reward sort of thing there. You block plate, he doesn't score or, he scores and you get taken off on stretcher

  • southerners like the one talking on the video are the reason that stereotypes exist. Bad mouth and utterly wrong

  • the runner slid. clean play.

  • The guy did slide. "hey you feel good taking a kid out?" this is probably a full grown man talking shit to an 18 or 19 year old kid. I bet he feels really tough

  • Thats baseball!!! If your on the line, then your lights out.

  • this is a great example of why baseball sucks

  • He slid the catcher was in the way the catcher got taken out and it was a fair play. ive been playing baseball for 15 years and its pretty apparent that the dad bitching doesnt know shit about baseball. Besides the catcher didnt even have the ball you cant block a base and expect not to be taken out.

  • block home plate and expect to get taken out

  • That was a clean play. Runner went into slide and catcher moved forward to get ball. I was a catcher for 12 years and this wouldn't have bothered me at all.

What would have bothered me is the "Idiot" running his mouth on this video. Esspecially if it were my father. What is BULL his BULLSHIT evaluation of the play. Dude, shut up!

  • Even if the rule was not to run over the catcher, how is the kid supposed to get around him? The only thing that the kid was able and allowed to do, was to slide into home plate, which was exactly what he did. He therefore should not have been kicked out.

  • It's not the collision that pisses me off, it's the WAY the runner collided with the catcher. It's like he semi-dove to the side at the last minute and his legs hit straight on his kness. That's why the filmer is butt-hurt because the runner aimed right for his knees. If you're gonna run somebody over go for the head and chest, the catcher has protection, not the knees! Collide right is all I'm saying.

  • The kid was comin in fast and the catcher moved up the third baseline. Its an easy call when the kid comes up the line its just like a fielder interference. I agree the play was rough but the play was still clean. If he stayed up maybe then it woulda been a good reason for ejecting him but that play at the plate is totally 100% clean.

  • When the catcher advances him self up the line trying to make a play on the ball, he is just like anyone else. the kid running was going down. Total emotional ejection by the umpire and bad call.

  • He shouldn't get ejected that's part of baseball

  • @GeneralofCarthage - Not in High School baseball.

  • @bulldogsfan If it is High School Baseball then you are right but if it is College in up

  • @GeneralofCarthage - I'm not to sure about the College level because I don't work college I believe it's legal but I'm not 100% sure, I just work High School & Little League.

  • @GeneralofCarthage there certin levels that you can slide into a catcher this is not one of them they are thrown out right away accident or not. its in a rule book.

  • Fuck Face redneck his feet were up and he was trying to have a collision

  • That was a nice hit...by the batter.

  • Love how the redneck dads are fighting in the bleachers and the kids are just playing the game.

  • You can't say "learn how to play baseball" when you dont even know the rules, lol. The umpire was 100% correct. Play ball.

  • I've looked at this play frame by frame and it appears, from the limited angle that we have, that the runner was legal. Here's why. It looked as though the catcher's attempt to field the throw pulled him into the baseline at the last moment. The ball and the runner arrived at the same time. Both players were where they were supposed to be. The runner attempted to slide. It didn't appear to be "spikes up". The slide was hard but clean. I've got nothing.

  • "Learn how to play baseball"? The catcher was in the basepath. His fault, not the runner's.

  • had almost the same thing happen to me a few weeks ago umps just another power hungry douche bag who wants to throw people out and in almost all leagues maybe not litlle little kids colliding with the catcher to get to the bag is the right play

  • In the league i play in there is a rule against collisions. if you do it intentionally or unintentionally your out and ejected

  • There is plenty you can do when running full speed. He had PLENTY of time to slide to the inside of the catcher. And again, he slid very late and very high, right into the catchers knees. No place for that. Automatic Ejection.

  • The catcher shifted into the runner's lane because the fielder threw the ball wide of the plate. When you're going full speed, there's nothing you can do. He even tried to slide but to no avail. The umpire should have been a little more understanding of the situation as it unfolded. Collisions are a part of the game. I should know since I still have a broken nose from a home plate smash up in late 2009.

  • The guy with the camera is a fucking jackass, it's baseball, kids or not, they need to man up someday right?

  • the guy who is filming shut the f*ck up plate collisions are supposed to happen you don't need to fricken yell like a bitch

  • Again, you must attempt to get out of the way of the catcher as per the rule I stated for you below. He had plenty of time to do so and chose instead to slide late and high, right into the catchers knees with no attempt to get around him whatsoever. Thats malicious intent, automatic ejection.

  • Dumbass ump clean slide

  • he was trying to slide

  • If the catcher is in the baseline without the ball, the runner can run into him all he wants. Once he has the ball he has to go around or slide. That is the case anywhere but the pros.

  • The second being that the slide was NOT clean. He left his feet late and slid very high, right into the kids knees. He had plenty of time to alter his slide and chose not to.

The Umpire was 100% absolutely correct here.

  • The umpire was absolutely correct. This league is a no-contact (at the plate) league. Rule 7.08 (a-3) states:

Any runner is out when -

The runner does not slide OR ATTEMPT TO GET AROUND A FIELDER WHO IS WAITING TO MAKE A TAG.

The ump ejected this player because of 2 reasons. One being that the runner could have easily slid to the inside of the catcher and averted the collision altogether which is what he was supposed to do.

  • That was a 100% legal slide. As you can clearly see in the video the runner was going to slide. I also am a catcher and I'm prepared for anything to happen at the plate especially on a close play.

  • dumb rednecks

  • Dear sir in the video, your emotions got the best of you and sound quit ignorant. "Learn howdah play bashe-bawl". ?? Good lord. Tell you catcher to get off the tracks. The runner attempted to slide, your catcher was way to far up the line. And the blue is an idiot for throwing the runner out. It's called playing hard ball. Tell that kid to join the diving team if he cant handle it.

  • that was a good slide. he may have slide a bit late and caught the catcher a little high up but its not like he was intending to deck the catcher he was intending to slide. the motherfucker filming should learn baseball before he starts yelling at the kid for making a heads up play and sliding in. whats the runner supposed to do? stand up and let the catcher make an easy tag? NO!!! hes gotta make the best possible slide to avoid getting out even if that involves running over this pussy catcher.

  • catchers a bitch

  • This guy filming needs to be ejected!

  • Pwned

  • what a pussy the guy slid into home...

  • the coach should show some respect and wait to argue til they know if the kid is ok. Correct call by the ump the kid went went in looking for a collision. It's H.S. baseball not the pros.

  • @ahub39 running over the catcher is legal in high school

  • guys remember, rednecks dont know how to play baseball

  • Lol ," learn how to play baseball man" dumb redneck

  • lol @ all the redneck parents.

  • Hate to tell the dumbass in the video but thats a clean slide.

  • well the catcher could have gotten out of the way if he didnt want to get hit dumbasses

  • what a dumbass redneck, he did "slide on the freaking ground" and no one cares if "hes a catcher that did it" I bet he knows how to block the fucking plate better

  • whoever filmed this and "thought" he took the catcher out??? go fuck yourself you have no clue what your talking about and if I was the player you were yelling I would have went into the stands and kicked your hick ass

  • Comment removed

  • Runner lowered his shoulder. That's malicious contact and it's an automatic out and ejection from the game.

  • The catcher was playing smart - couple steps in front of the plate. This also creates the necessity for collisions at home. The runner made a good play. I had my share of guys try to take me out like this. You just have to be ready for the ball AND to get hit.

  • Clean slide and good baseball..."learn how to play baseball mehn"

  • And u obviously don't know what the meaning " truck the catcher" means..

  • Player did not run over the catcher he just slide and the catcher caught the ball where he was sliding n he hit him nothing wrong with that.. Stupid parents should learn the game!

  • You kinda have to slide...... or you're out anyway.....

  • if the catcher is blocking the plate and the runner slides it is legal, therefore he should be safe. bad call by the ump

  • I believe running over the catcher is what you're TAUGHT to do. I know, to some of you, that sounds insane, but when you're ACTUALLY in the game and have a head of steam towards home plate AND the catcher is standing right there, YOU would do the same thing. I know because I've played baseball for 8 years. And I've had my share of home plate collisions. I agree, it's gruesome, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

  • @breakingbank1997

just to add to you comment i aint even a baseball player at all dont mind watching the game but it you look properly you can see that he is actualy tryna slide rite at the end just before he come into contact with the catcher i and what did you expect him to do turn on his ghost powers and run through him and the catcher set that up so in a way he asking for some kind of collision, i mean surely even tho its not really a contact sport, dont turn it into netball...

  • @breakingbank1997 fasle...in high school baseball and in college baseball you are not allowed to have a collision with the catcher..you have to slide...the catcher was at home plate and the runner could have easily slid..and you can tell from the video that this is a blatant collision and that he did it on purpose...thats not what you are taught to do...if you respect the game and respect how it is played and are taught by coaches who know what they're talking about, than that's not what you do

  • @breakingbank1997 well i know..... in my high school league its illegal to run over the catcher and if you do its an automatic ejection this was not running over the catcher it was a late slide but he did not mean to run him over the person videotaping this is so stupid though

  • @breakingbank1997 in little legues and even highschool there is a strict no contact rule so nobody gets hurt

  • @breakingbank1997 But I dont think its legal yet at there age. They look maybe 13.

  • @MrDazzeed They're boys, if he can't take a hit at that age, he's a bitch. Don't block the plate, you won't get annihilated. Simple as that haha.

  • @thefuryinnj I like the way you think

  • @breakingbank1997

Certain levels of baseball require that a player slide if a play is possible. In this case...a play was possible. This is primarily in youth baseball but I saw it a few years ago during a Senior Tournament as well.

  • @breakingbank1997 You're like 11 years old, your "share of home plate collisions" were probably bumping into the catcher. Plus thats not what you are TAUGHT to do idiot, trucking the catcher is so illegal and will get you ejected every time.

  • @breakingbank1997 no one gives a crap about how long you have played baseball. you probably suck. if you had played that long you would know that in youth leagues its an automatic out and an ejection for running into the catcher.

  • @Trackside1234 The catcher was right in the runner's way and he didn't have the ball, the runner had every right to take him out. If the catcher has the ball, then it's a free for all. I was a catcher in high school. We as catchers (at any level) are taught to receive the ball while standing just in front of the plate, because we have no business standing right in the middle of the basepath if we don't have the ball.

  • that's obstruction on the catcher.....run scores

  • @ou812scott its not even obstruction...the fielder has a right to the ball but still he slid and should be safe

  • @zSuperFMJx As an umpire, I saw no attempt to evade contact with the catcher. He needed to slide lower. Had he slid lower, then the rule is that they both had the right to the plate so they cant be ejected. However, the runner lowered his shoulder. Therefore, the umpire made the correct decision and the runner is out.

  • Don't stand in the fucking way next time

  • The fucking catcher doesn't know how to set up watta retard good thing he got hit maybe he will b less of a fucking cunt now

  • Fuck the guy talking that's completly fucking legal u retard I'm sorry ur son(the catcher) will b fucking handicap the rest of his life the cunt can't take a small fucking hit way a pussy

  • i dont care if it was legal or not... that would HURT!

  • catcher was in the basepath

  • Catcher deserved it he obviouslly dosent know how to set up

  • the dude that says ''its a bunch of bull" u must not know baseball cuz he went into a slide and its not his fault the kid that threw the ball home shuld have made a better thrwo cuz the catcher had to move into the runners path...not the runners fault..i give himprops :)

  • catcher didnt have the ball actually so u can do whatever u want ;)

  • Thats catcher interferencethat happens to me all the time the catcher didnt have the ball when contact was made so its the catchers fault.

  • The catcher took 3 side steps to block the plate it was just for the base runner to go through him what would a slide do really nothing if the catcher was blocking like he was he deserved to get steam rolled

  • he went into a slide.. not his fault

  • Another judge call here by the Ump. Catcher had to step away from the plate to catch the ball which took him in the path of the runner. The runner was starting his slide at the right time. As a result of the catcher moving down the line a bit put him in the area of the runner attempting to slide. Part of the game, it happens, he wasn't 'trucked', or purposely trying to hurt hum. Should have never ejected the kid. Just too bad the catch got hurt on the play (maybe).

  • he slid into the plate

  • How else was he supposed to get to the plate. That's the catcher's fault.

  • Btw hold on to the ball

  • The baserunner did exactly what he should of done he was in the baseline and he would of been tagged if he tried to slide because his feet were in the way of the bag dumby.

  • he was in the way without the ball he shudd moved out

  • please read! it looked like the kid was going to slide just to late the catcher did nothing wrong but the ump did, if its an attempd to slide than it counts but then agian it was a lousy try by the runner so i see wear the ump was coming from

  • man, you cut the video before a fan fight, DAMMIT!

  • LEARN HOW TO PLAY BASEBALL MAAHHH!!!! SLIDEEEE ON THE GROUNNND

  • taso umps are terrible this kid should have never been ejected his slide was not above the waist or knee for that matter man i swear alot of people dont know a dam thing about baseball!

  • the guy who is saying learn how to play baseball is a idiot. haha

  • The guy may have been a gambler, but he was one hell of a player, and he would approve of the base runner 100%, and that is Pete Rose.

Now on another note, I do agree with Billy Beane who says he is okay with his catchers avoiding this play for this very reason. I'm pretty sure Buster Posey and the Giants now would agree, because is one run, in one game worth your best hitter for the rest of 2011.

  • Again..... It was a fucking slide. The catcher in baseline

  • I play all star baseball and this kid jumped on the third baseman with meatal cleat and the third baseman got ejectfrom the game from blocking the bag,and when I was coming home I thought in my this peice of shit catcher better get out of the way he didnt so he got K.O.d

  • 100% clean play

  • Comment removed

  • @bluehaven67 youre allowed to block the plate as a catcher - youre not allowed to interfere with the opportunity for the catcher to make the play as a runner. simply put, the runner slid late when he could have avoided the contact with an earlier slide or a headfirst slide around the throw, but he slid right into his legs. as someone who has been paid to call middle school games (albeit not hs), i can say that it was a good call for youth rules and i probably would have made the same call
