I have all traxxas 1/16 cars I love them by far my favourite is the e revo vxl I run 3s lipo and upgraded suspension and metAl upgrades does around 70 mph and nearly does double backflips from a stand still
@gufterica R/C makers pretty much issue no guarantee when it comes to failure by usage, even if there was an apparent design flaw in some parts of the product. Out of the box manufacturing defects would be a different case.
Get the 7029X and 7030X uprated bulkheads if your car didn't come with the preinstalled. The easiest way to tell the difference between the original and uprated designs is the long lateral screw in the latter.
what charger/balancer do you use? i have the same lipos, but i use a turnigy balancer/charger and my lipos dont have the power yours does could you help?
@Addikti okay, will say iam a noob to lipo but not rc. an i have noticed my lipos dont really gain any power after i used the balance/charger, should i just switch to a lipo charger that charges threw the batterie cables its self? if i even can..
@hammell557 Wait, you haven't connected the pack's power leads? When blalancing, the big charge is always delivered through the main leads and the external balancing wires are used to equalize the charge in the end of the cycle. You need to connect both the main leads and the balancing wires at the same time.
@everythingboy13 High speed runs provide enough airflow to keep the engine and ESC cool enough. Basically, you only need LiPOs (2x2S) for fun. For handling you want to have uprated shocks, a set of springs of different rates and the center differential. The rest is a matter of taste. Aluminum suspension arms and such look great but they add extra strain to mount points. Original spares come cheap, after all and replacing a suspension arm is no pain at all.
4s work just fine on the stock 1/16 e revo, but only on nimh mode so lvc will need to be turn off. Check the motor and esc for heat cause heat does built up quick at long full throttle.
I advise getting the proline titus beadlocks with road rage or dirt hogs, gearing down a bit with a 48p 21t pinion gear and running no more than 3s on stock. Also buy the traxxas fan for the esc and heatsink/fan for the motor (absolutely required for 3s). This will prevent balooning, add weight to the bottom ( needed badly for this power) and add superior traction and handling. For 4s you need a better esc, period.... you WILL burn this up, will burn with 3s too if you don't really watch it.
the 2s 7.4v are 2200, i just run one at a time, mine wont run them in series, i checked on that, only parallel will work, mine won't handle the two together with the stock ESC. Don't know why I assumed that they were the same, the ESC, on the mini summit and mini e revo, but something is different, traxxas told me that i can't run them in series. the one that shredded my axles was a 3s 11.1v 1500 mah, worked for a few seconds then broke two axles, u change ur ESC, or axles?
i switched to LVC mode, and ran the 2 s fine, just when i use the 3s 1500mah, on the mini summit, everything that Iv'e read says that the mini revo shafts work better, don't break like the stock summit shafts, just wanted to know if u used a different axle to handle the power, but if stock e revo ones handle all that power, then that's exactly what i need.
was told the stock ESC would not work two 2s lipos in series, i tried it on my mini summit, and it wouldn't work i called traxxas and they said that only running them in parallel would work, where it doesn't double the power, just run time, any advice? how can i run both lipos in series, i have two 2 cell 2200mah, and a 3 cell 1500mah, which is breaking axles, also looking for stronger axles so i can use the 3s, cause what little time i ran it, it was wicked fast. any help would be appreciated

hey you know what you should do. put a third servo(attach on body mounts) with a long enough metal rod which goes ontop of your shell. once your rc is upside down hit the 3rdchannel servo and the metal arm pushes out forcing the car to turn upright. iv done it on my rc and it works a charm. no need to walk all the way to rc car. you should give it a go
@SpringFigsXD89 No, you slap the b*tch harder, ie. "drive out the problem" to see if it gets worse (It got). So you'll know you need to do something about it sooner than later.
The included NiMH pack lasts from absolutely nothing to next the nothing. Two 2100mAh LiPos in parallel gets you anything from 30 to 45 minutes. About 20mins of actual drive time in series (it's not exactly half since you unavoidably accelerate differently and it hits the limit of how much amps is drawn).
@Addikti haha yea thats how i run my motorcycle. i think im goin to run 2 parallel stock batteries while im at a local track, they only allow hard case LiPo. and buying a couple 2s zippys.
@260k1s No, it was the busted ring gear in the rear diff casing. If you look really closely to the photo in the video, you can see a row of flattened teeth.
@98Ps3lover I've had one for about 1.5 years now. It's excellent for control and on rough surfaces (though it needs a somewhat greater weight oil), but not really that good for speed runs or general bashing.
I'm running a pair of Venom 2s lipos on my e revo VXL. For some reason I can't get the car to stay on. I have messed with the program on the esc and nothing s eems to help. I wish mine would run like yours. Help????please
what is the maixum voltage or lipos you would recommend cuz i have pretty much run the stock dual pack that come with the car to the ground they dont even hold charge for more then 5 minutes of run time so looking into getting myself some lipos which are good and safe to run on this car ?
@blackeye09 3S ie. 11.1V nominal to enable the built-in LiPo protection, 4S ie. 14.8V nominal with a relative low discharge current (20C) for more speed but at the cost of LiPo protection (need to run in NiMH mode). I wouldn't go above that since the car will probably break into pieces and smash literally everywhere. I do _not_ regularly use 4S, 2S is fairly good for bashing and will for sure provide a better kick than 2xNiMH and more drive time than 3S LiPo (due to space restrictions).
@blackeye09 Yes, definitely in parallel 'cause it'll increase your drive time without increasing the voltage. By space restrictions I was referring to the available space in the battery bays (more cells in same space equals less capacity per cell). But, of course, you need some space to run the car, too. :)
@cesar11duran Connecting a single pack and then turning LiPo mode off (ie. switching to NiMH mode) and finally connecting the two packs in series. And, umm, panting, 'cause it was hot and I'm fat and aging.
@Addikti So why cut Lipo mode off an NiMH mode on if you are running Lipos? Iv got two 2200mah Lipos on the way an want to run them in series to get the most speed but have stock ecu on mine, Would that be to much for it or should i just run them parrallel? Thanks for ya time man. Yours is nasty!
@Addikti: Hi! Nice vid! I wanna get 2x2S MAXAMPS BATTERIES and series them. do you think the ESC will burn out?! anyone here have any suggestions? I wanna go for top speed uns and drag races thats why. I would appreciate any replies :) ty
@charlessamson8 20C is pretty much safe, everything above that is beyond my knowledge. Maxamps packs seem to be able to deliver a lot current, which might as well be more than the ESC can handle. In the comments people have said they've burnt their ESC so, dunno, I guess it can't handle large currents. If you really want to make the car scream, I'd suggest you upgrade your ESC too.
@MrUltraFly Well, in a way. He turned undervoltage protection off basically meaning the car thinks it's running on nimh batteries, not lipos. This will make it handle 18 volts instead of I think 13.
@minititan100 Don't really know how fast, my toy radar can't get a reading above about 20 mph and I have to yet fit a GPS logger to really find out. Very strong! If it can handle the way we try to destroy it it can handle pretty much anything less than smashing it head-on to something at full speed. The uprated bulkheads practically eliminate any diff trouble.
@badazrang3r I forgot to disable LiPo mode beforehand so it refused to power up. Then I disabled it and it required a longer button press. The diddlydoo you can hear afterwards is the acknowledgement for enablig NiMH mode. The ESC won't accept 4S voltages in LiPo mode.
@HelloImAWESOME7 Sorry, I was away for Christmas. Yes it is. 2x2S in parallel can be used with stock LiPo settings, 2x2S in series required using NiMH mode.
@Addikti tnkz for ur reply, what do u mean, 2x2S in series required using NiMH mode? i dont have to use the mode for lipos, which is the one that i thave to activate the low voltage detection?
@HelloImAWESOME7 2x2S in series is 4S. The ESC won't permit the high voltage in LiPo mode, as in addition to low voltage protection there's also overvoltage detection, making 3S the highest you can use in LiPo mode. In NiMH mode there is no overvoltage detection.
@Addikti so, if i want to use 2x2s lipo in series i have to select the mode for the nimh?? and if i select this, and i use lipo, i will not damage my esc????
@Addikti thnz again for ur reply, but how can i check my batteries?? can i install something so that it will letting me know when my batteries are on thier minimum voltage??
@HelloImAWESOME7 You can install a low voltage buzzer (available in most R/C and battery shops) or you can try to rely on them behaving like mine, ie. exhibit a distinct power drop before they're actually destroyed.
@Addikti i am thinking of buying mamba max pro 9000kv, but i worry because it can only get 2s lipo as it max input. do u know a good 1/10 motor and esc that can handle 2x3s lipos in series??
@d4rr3n666 That was Thecronos :). And no, the car can easily withstand a few attempts at climbing concrete blocks. The spare part costs for the two cars being senselessly bashed in 1,5 years have been _very_ low. I'm currently editing an old video of us doing 6 feet jumps and we only lost three suspension arms and a diff that was already buggered.
@everythingboy13 The plastic gears are ok, the brass diff case is another thing altogether, but upgrading the old style bulkheads will cure the problem. That is, if the car is old enough. New units are fitted with the new bulkheads as stock.
Great video, I have the same setup (14.8 volts) but I also installed the low voltage lipo battery alarm, very cheap and good insurance... if the batteries get below their safe voltage, they will be damaged permanently but the alarm alerts you before it happens... Remember, lipo batteries are expensive.
@Moon007raker The ones I'm using give a distinct warning (power drop) so you won't destroy them that easily. Chinese LiPOs from Hong Kong are cheap though.
@98Ps3lover None that I'm aware of. However, the uprated rear (and front) bulkheads (7029X and 7030X) cure most of the problems. Remember that on the old mini Revos (such as mine) the flex is not only present in serious high-power acceleration but also in mindless bashing - which I love - in 2S configuration. My friend over there stripped the ring gears in both front and rear diffs while jumping.
I run the same setup and it works exactly like that stripping of the gears and all it don't hurt my esc and I'm running two venom 2000 mah 7.4 s with the traxxas connector awsome
@Sa3do0n999 None whatsoever. The only thing you need to do is use it in NiMH mode. You may want to add a low voltage buzzer but the packs I'm using lose power pretty distinctly before the voltage drops too low and they're still in good running order after 1,5 years.
@techdeckfaby My Chinese LiPos came with Deans Ultras (knock-offs) which was convenient since the previous owner had already ditched the Traxxas connector in favor of a Deans. I soldered my paraller & series adaptors using Deans connectors too. The gold standard today seems to be the XT60 connector, but shops such as Hobbyking sell very cheap adapters so if you want to retain the Traxxas connector in the ESC then that's a simple no-solder option for you.

Cool Video !!!
Come and watch my video called TRAXXAS E REVO VXL SUN AND SNOW
This video is onboard the car with snow jumps and road speed.
gadgetapple 1 year ago
@minititan100 Don't really know how fast, my toy radar can't get a reading above about 20 mph and I have to yet fit a GPS logger to really find out. Very strong! If it can handle the way we try to destroy it it can handle pretty much anything less than smashing it head-on to something at full speed. The uprated bulkheads practically eliminate any diff trouble.

why did u have to hold to button so long to turn it on?
badazrang3r 1 year ago
@badazrang3r I forgot to disable LiPo mode beforehand so it refused to power up. Then I disabled it and it required a longer button press. The diddlydoo you can hear afterwards is the acknowledgement for enablig NiMH mode. The ESC won't accept 4S voltages in LiPo mode.
Addikti 1 year ago
is it ok to use 2x2s lipo with that esc??? i need an answer as soon as possible.
HelloImAWESOME7 1 year ago
@HelloImAWESOME7 Sorry, I was away for Christmas. Yes it is. 2x2S in parallel can be used with stock LiPo settings, 2x2S in series required using NiMH mode.
Addikti 1 year ago
@Addikti tnkz for ur reply, what do u mean, 2x2S in series required using NiMH mode? i dont have to use the mode for lipos, which is the one that i thave to activate the low voltage detection?
HelloImAWESOME7 1 year ago
@HelloImAWESOME7 2x2S in series is 4S. The ESC won't permit the high voltage in LiPo mode, as in addition to low voltage protection there's also overvoltage detection, making 3S the highest you can use in LiPo mode. In NiMH mode there is no overvoltage detection.
Addikti 1 year ago
@Addikti so, if i want to use 2x2s lipo in series i have to select the mode for the nimh?? and if i select this, and i use lipo, i will not damage my esc????
HelloImAWESOME7 1 year ago
@HelloImAWESOME7 No, you won't. The ESC is up for it. All you need to do is watch for the LiPos themselves.
Addikti 1 year ago
@Addikti thnz again for ur reply, but how can i check my batteries?? can i install something so that it will letting me know when my batteries are on thier minimum voltage??
HelloImAWESOME7 1 year ago
@HelloImAWESOME7 You can install a low voltage buzzer (available in most R/C and battery shops) or you can try to rely on them behaving like mine, ie. exhibit a distinct power drop before they're actually destroyed.
Addikti 1 year ago
@Addikti thnz, i will install a buzzer which is safer. how many times did u change diffs??
HelloImAWESOME7 1 year ago
@HelloImAWESOME7 Three times so far. Just the diff casing, it's easy to rebuild.
Addikti 1 year ago
@Addikti by saying the casing u mean the teeth of the diff??
HelloImAWESOME7 1 year ago
@HelloImAWESOME7 Yes, the ring gear that is integrated to the diff casing. You can't replace it separately.
Addikti 1 year ago
@Addikti i am thinking of buying mamba max pro 9000kv, but i worry because it can only get 2s lipo as it max input. do u know a good 1/10 motor and esc that can handle 2x3s lipos in series??
HelloImAWESOME7 1 year ago
@HelloImAWESOME7 a 6s? to much try looking at hobby king

PLEASE, PLEEEAAASE! Stop ramming it against that concrete block :(
d4rr3n666 1 year ago
@d4rr3n666 That was Thecronos :). And no, the car can easily withstand a few attempts at climbing concrete blocks.
Addikti 1 year ago
@d4rr3n666 That was Thecronos :). And no, the car can easily withstand a few attempts at climbing concrete blocks. The spare part costs for the two cars being senselessly bashed in 1,5 years have been _very_ low. I'm currently editing an old video of us doing 6 feet jumps and we only lost three suspension arms and a diff that was already buggered.
Addikti 1 year ago
do u need to upgrade the esc to use the lipos or can u run it with lipos stock?
Jesterer78 1 year ago
@Jesterer78 Stock is fine.
Addikti 1 year ago
awesome vid.... ths is just stupid fast... do i need both batteries to yous the faster pinion gear? or can i just go stock with the pinion gear?
austingost505 1 year ago
@austingost505 Use the smaller pinion to prevent overgearing and increase the lifespan of the motor. With 4S you will still hit the rev limiter.
Addikti 1 year ago
@Addikti cool thx
austingost505 1 year ago
nice vid how are your diffs? r u using the stock plastic i heard they break easily when usin 4s idk great vid
everythingboy13 1 year ago
@everythingboy13 The plastic gears are ok, the brass diff case is another thing altogether, but upgrading the old style bulkheads will cure the problem. That is, if the car is old enough. New units are fitted with the new bulkheads as stock.
Addikti 1 year ago
@ZzoldpeopleburningzZ He has two lipo batteries connected in series with an adapter... he has 14.8 volts on demand.
Moon007raker 1 year ago
Great video, I have the same setup (14.8 volts) but I also installed the low voltage lipo battery alarm, very cheap and good insurance... if the batteries get below their safe voltage, they will be damaged permanently but the alarm alerts you before it happens... Remember, lipo batteries are expensive.
Moon007raker 1 year ago
@Moon007raker The ones I'm using give a distinct warning (power drop) so you won't destroy them that easily. Chinese LiPOs from Hong Kong are cheap though.
Addikti 1 year ago
@Moon007raker u use 2x2s lipos with the nimh setup on ur 1/16 revo??
HelloImAWESOME7 1 year ago
what makes the more S batteries better?
mower26 1 year ago
@mower26 More voltage = more power, torque, speed...

how come i cant use a 4s lipo in the slash 4x4 same motor just bigger
WestRC12 1 year ago
It sucks when you got alot of power on it, and the you drive very far away with it and then it flips over, doesn't it?
TheDrRevo 1 year ago
did you break any part?
bateriavicenteLP 1 year ago
@Theslayervxl By using NiMH mode. That's what I do in the beginning of the video.
Addikti 1 year ago
dont they have an upgraded rear diff 4 the 1/16 e revo? idk
98Ps3lover 1 year ago
@98Ps3lover None that I'm aware of. However, the uprated rear (and front) bulkheads (7029X and 7030X) cure most of the problems. Remember that on the old mini Revos (such as mine) the flex is not only present in serious high-power acceleration but also in mindless bashing - which I love - in 2S configuration. My friend over there stripped the ring gears in both front and rear diffs while jumping.
Addikti 1 year ago
The mini e-revo is for me the best car in scale 1/16 but with two lipo's is uncontrollable

greenapple433 1 year ago
I run the same setup and it works exactly like that stripping of the gears and all it don't hurt my esc and I'm running two venom 2000 mah 7.4 s with the traxxas connector awsome
slinkyjr85 1 year ago
and this didnt hurt your esc??? it says the most volts to put to it on lipo is 12.6
packyr6smith 1 year ago
@packyr6smith No damage whatsoever. The car is still in perfect running order (after over a year).
Addikti 1 year ago

packyr6smith 1 year ago
Sounds like your diffs are buggered :( Too many standing backflips :P
revorocks123 1 year ago
@revorocks123 The diff casing & pinion spare pack isn't really THAT expensive... :D
Addikti 1 year ago
@Addikti True, I've gone through 4 so far, but I''ve shimmed the diffs now, fingers crossed no more problems!
revorocks123 1 year ago
Are you using the series connector
iElimination 1 year ago
@iElimination I soldered my own since I use Deans connectors.
Addikti 1 year ago
@Addikti hey, did you need to make any modifications to the esc since ur running 4s? thx
Sa3do0n999 1 year ago
@Sa3do0n999 None whatsoever. The only thing you need to do is use it in NiMH mode. You may want to add a low voltage buzzer but the packs I'm using lose power pretty distinctly before the voltage drops too low and they're still in good running order after 1,5 years.

Addikti 1 year ago
you can conect the lipo with traxxas conector what did you use ?????? plz
techdeckfaby 1 year ago
@techdeckfaby My Chinese LiPos came with Deans Ultras (knock-offs) which was convenient since the previous owner had already ditched the Traxxas connector in favor of a Deans. I soldered my paraller & series adaptors using Deans connectors too. The gold standard today seems to be the XT60 connector, but shops such as Hobbyking sell very cheap adapters so if you want to retain the Traxxas connector in the ESC then that's a simple no-solder option for you.
Addikti 1 year ago
@Addikti is this true they say if you put double batteries in it the bearings come out or whatever
robbyadkins 1 year ago
@robbyadkins Nah, but the bulkhead flex causes stripped ring gears, as I find out in this video.
